Does live continuous video monitoring on a mobile device over Wi-fi drain battery life of the camera faster than if Wi-fi turned off? ... Also what is the maximum operational range between camera and mobile device?
Hi there! Having the Wi-Fi off will certainly conserve battery life in the camera compared to having it turned on. Also, the transmission range is up to 15m or 49.2 feet when communicating with a smartphone and with no obstructions or interference between the devices. We hope this answers your questions!
Following through this is really frustrating. My iPhone didn't need or have the password or windows shown here. Yet it connected together both wifi and Bluetooth easily. This video makes it seem extremely difficult. It is not.
Hi Jonathan! a Bluetooth connection allows you to establish a Wi-Fi connection between the camera and mobile device more easily and just by using one or the other. If power is turned off on either the camera or mobile device, connection between them will resume easily when power is turned back on. Bluetooth also allows for the connection of the Wireless Remote Control BR-E1. We hope this helps!
I just successfully connected my new Canon 77d to my iPhone and now I'm trying to connect it to my iPad Air but it's not working. When I get to the step where I'm instructed to press "pair" (at the 4:57 point in the tutorial after the Bluetooth/Smartphone step), the word "pair" is "grayed out" and I cannot continue. Any suggestion to make this work?
Hi Wayne! Our support team can help you get it connected to your iPad too. Please give them a call at 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666) weekdays between 8 AM and midnight, or on Saturdays between 10 AM and 8 PM ET. We hope this helps!
Hi Emilia! Our support team is happy to help get it connected for you. Please reach out to them directly at Canon.us/ContactYT We look forward to hearing from you!
It never works on my Asus Android. The instructions on the video don't match. When we are already connected via bluetooth and i tap on "images on camera" it starts directly to try a wiFi connection that never happens.
Not to worry! We have a Wireless Help page at Canon.us/mr5j that can help you get it connected. If you still aren't able to, our support team is standing by to assist. You can reach them directly at Canon.us/ContactYT We hope this helps!
Hi Ty! There are a few conditions that would prevent Bluetooth pairing. Pairing is not possible when the camera is already connected to a Connect Station, a computer, GPS receiver or another device with a USB interface cable. It is also not possible to initiate pairing while shooting with the camera or when the camera is already connected to two or more devices at the same time via Bluetooth. There are some additional resources on our Wireless Help page that may help you as well at Canon.us/mr5j If you're still having trouble with it after that, our support team is standing by to assist. You can reach them directly at Canon.us/ContactYT We hope this helps!

Hi, David! While the first half of the video deals with Bluetooth connectivity, the second half deals with Wi-Fi connectivity. It starts at 6:55. Hope this helps!
Thanks it did help. Of course I watched 5 minutes about Bluetooth then skipped forward to the end where it was still talking about Bluetooth and totally missed the WiFi bit in the middle!

This might be a dumb question, but what's the point of having bluetooth connectivity? Whenever I try to do anything it switches over to wifi
