Johnny Hollow takes on the daunting task of covering The Sisters of Mercy anthem song "Temple of Love".
A Collection of Creatures is Johnny Hollow's third full-length album.
It was funded entirely by a crowd-sourcing campaign fuelled by the mantra:
No Middle Men, Just Fans!
Johnny Hollow would like to thank all of the incredible patrons who made this album possible, and continue to inspire the band with their enthusiastic support. This is your album!
To create this album, the band went back to their DIY roots; it was recorded almost entirely in-house and self-produced, with a whole lot of blood, sweat, & tears and little help from some very talented friends.
Johnny Hollow is: Janine White, Kitty Thompson, Vincent Marcone, & Steve Hiehn.

This might just be my favorite version of this song. You guys totally rocked it!
One of the VERY few worthy covers of this iconic song. Excellent interpretation, with a very unique touch. Melikes.
how gorgeous! Thanks for covering one of the most classic anthems of dark wave! Thanks!
I've been a fan for ages, though the only two songs I had listened to ages ago were Alchemy and This Hollow World. Just listened to like 10 different others, renewed passion!! And I'm so excited, because I just ordered a CD to listen to in my car.
Glad to have you back dearest FullMoon ;) ~v
I like this cover- it's ritualistic, building to a climax in that uniquely pagan way...
Yeah but I’m going out
This is giving a series of unfortunate events. I love it
As i am looking for covers of goth songs i came across this, as i refuse to listen to the original because for nearly thirty years it has been played at nearly everynight i have ever been out and the remix makes me sick, i am happy to hear this, after reading previous posts this is 11/16 as goth as the original. Oh its great.
Time to broaden your horizon
What an interesting version of this song!
I first heard the it(The Sisters of Mercy version) in Gegen die Wand and it was intense, chaotic, raw and full of energy. This is such a nice surprise as well. Thanks for sharing it with us.
True, this feels more oniric; I love both versions for so many different reasons, both are amazing.
Wow! Beautiful rendition!
This
is one of the best things that came to my life
Very interesting cover! I love the Middle Eastern cello, and how well it did Ofra Haza's parts in the first half. If anything, I just wish it had been more present in the second half. Still, this was really cool!!
This is absolutely perfect!
amazing cover
Muah!
You guys are amazing! But could you please explain why Aegis, Looking back and Sigea aren't collected into a suite and released on youtube? It's a beautiful and haunting trio of songs and I love trying to decipher their combined meaning.
MASSIVELY stoked to find out about the new album, albeit a bit late. Buying ASAP.
Classic love to see this live as well
Fabuleuse cette version 🖤
whoa...thank you for great expirience
great cover! one more for my playlists... :)
Beautiful cover by a wonderful band
im in love! amazing cover!
Love it!
I am so surprised to hear a new creation of one of my favorite songs of Sisters of Mercy I might say I love the dark melodic and mid evil feels it gives almost like a game of throne soundtrack I love it
if i could get it i really it would be amazing!
Amazing !
I find it really interesting that you reply to people's comments. Most youtubers, especially large music maker such as yourself, tend not to. I think it's really nice that you pay attention to your fans, but I find it interesting too.
Oh boy... We are late to the party with this comment. We've been sporadic at best (as you can see)... usually when a video is freshly uploaded will you see us about. Anyway, thank you Starr :) ~ V
I love it!!!
F..king brilliant. Such a nice voice. Afro haza would be proud.
People keep mentioning Ofra Haza. She was part of the remake, not the original. Although technically the original and the remake were both recorded by Sisters of Mercy. The extended mix of the original version is the best.
Maravilhoso. Parabéns
I love how you covered it with your own style.
Yes there are. There are many details, too many to go through, but the main one is that you have to pay a fee per physical copy of the album that you are selling.
Can you please make a cover of a Bauhaus song?
Perfect cover!
Excellent.
this is amazing! does an instrumental version exist?
Merveilleux !
Great!
nicely done!
Perfect for True Detective Season 3 Soundtrack...
Zajebista wersja. :)
Nice ! :-)
Wonderful. This is one of my favourite songs on the album after Firefly, and this is one of those rare covers that is actually better than the original. Good on you. =)
Oh!...
Excellent version, although perhaps the energy of the original is lacking a touch.
I like it.......1992
can you guys make piano tutorials for your songs specifically "worse things " and "people are strange" ive seen you guys have sheet music but i cant read music xD
Better than the original, though not difficult as the singers have more than a quarter-octave vocal range. Pouring one on the curb for the late Ofra Haza. :-(
Well, somehow this is better than the original. I was not impressed with The Sisters of Mercy, but this I listen to daily.
It's not to my liking. But, that's down to personal choice & opinion. I don't have it just not my style of this song performed in this way.
Good but no pace or depth
Really nice cover! However I need a male voice to make it special for me. Anyway, kudos.
No. I normally love Johnny Hollow but .... no. Temple of Love is also admittedly one of my favorite Sisters of Mercy songs, but that's not why I dislike it. The vocals are too wrong for the song, and the song is too similar and not different enough. There's too much of an overlay. You need to do this without the confines of the either the lyrics or the melody guiding you. Eldritch's inflections do not need to be yours. Go slightly more eclectic with the melody and music. You're your own band.
Incidentally, this is why I hate 99% or more of covers. I get they're supposed to be homages, but they're just wrong and poorly done. Only exception is Motorhead's version of Hellraiser that I can presently think of.
No arpeggiating riff? 😒 And that honky-tonk piano wasn't funny.
Love it !!!
