Hello! Thank you for a great part two to this intro to Le Sserafim. This is particularly refreshing after several days of internet chatter about their performance at Coachella 2024 wk 1. I am happy to see something that brings us back to their talents, their origins and their chemistry. I cannot compliment you enough on your receptiveness and expressiveness in embracing each member, reminding me of their uniqueness and their place in the squad.
You and i end up in roughly the same place: Yunjin as bias + 4 wreckers. They do so much content that we end up seeing them in 2s and 3s and, like with any comedy routine, it’s always a different one with the punchline. They are definitely of the newer generation and when they are promoting it seems like they are everywhere!
I have understood that most of the members are getting more involved in the music they are performing-love that so much.
I am floored by how far they have come in two years. I saw another reactor go through all of their rehearsals for the end of year shows in 2023 (you saw some of the final clips in this intro video) and it was amazing to see how they were able to adjust as well as how flexible the music was. (Once you have been through the core videos i would be happy to help assemble a list of the performance stuff).
Credit to Hybe for bringing them together, for giving Yunjin some room to be herself, for exploring remixes and collaborations. That company gets some crap for the young members, more for NewJeans than Le Sserafim but for both I guess. There has been some talk of whether Eunchae is too young for the choreo on Smart and similar things. I’m in North America and I’ve seen worse with younger, but they are also two years in. She definitely has some strong & caring older sisters, and I saw some behind the scenes from MAMA 2024 in Tokyo where she was one of 5 Maknae invited to help open the show. She was the first of the five to perform in a cold open at the Tokyo Dome (55k capacity) and it was wonderful to see the members show up to support her. It was also nice to see her walking back from rehearsal the day before, down a city street, vlogging on her phone, like one does, with three barrel-chested security guards in black suits floating in and out of the frame. Definitely protected. Now if only we can raise the level of discourse when people don’t experience a studio quality performance on a festival stage outdoors (and if they did they’d accuse the members of not actually singing!)
Le Sserafim is beyond good enough to be idols, eunchae is now being called unnie by illit, and all of them make it look easy.
Thanks for your gentle approach and I look forward to enjoying more of their music with you, fearnot.

Eunchae debuted young, but there are younger maknaes out there. Hyein was 14 when NewJeans debuted, and SeoAh from tripleS is only 13 years old. The super young age that some idols debut is a bit of a hot button issue for some, but it doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon.

The Japanese pronunciation is closest to KADZ-ha (U is silent, Z is pronounced as DZ) or KADZ-wa (H can be so light that it gets swallowed up). Koreans don’t have the Z (DZ) sound, and pronounce it as J, so she becomes KA-jeu-ha, often just collapsed into KA-jwa. Now, kaja, which is pronounced very similarly to kajwa, means “let’s go”, so you will hear very often the members, and other people, punning on her name. :)

16 is not usual for a debut age in kpop, and there are many younger, unfortunately. You've done a couple of IVE's videos and both Wonyoung and Yujin were 14 when they debuted in IZ*ONE. More recently the group UNIS formed on the survival show Universe Ticket had a member, Seowon, who made the final group at age 12. You'll be happy to know she successfully graduated from middle school recently. She turned 13 in January before their debut last month.
South Korea does have some laws around performance times for children - I think prior to 16 they cannot appear on live TV after 10 pm, and so Wonyoung and Yujin were frequently sent back to their hotel after IZ*ONE's performances on year-end award shows. I believe these laws are far less comprehensive and strict than for child actors in Hollywood where both length of shooting, and time of shooting are restricted, and educational time is enforced and monitored.
As is natural in Korea, Sakura and Kazuha have been given 2-syllable nicknames in the group: Kkura (KUR-ah) and Zuha (ZOO-hah). You're attempt at Kazuha's name is actually probably closer to how it is in Japanese. You were nailing "Eunchae" by the end. Elle est "une chae" dans Francais, je suppose.

2:54 That short period reminds me of Handongand Gahyeon, they also has 5/6 months of training, the thing with all ofthem is that they grow a lot after their debut. One of the reasons Kazua is my bias is because of her improvements.
6:18 always funny to see that part because the chair below Yunjin looks like she has little legs.
I really enjoy watching their content and listening to their songs, they were the first group tointroduce me into the Idol content other than the music videos
