Instead of speaking with Ashaji, the greatest artist after Lataji, the interviewer simply asked het to sing snippets of her songs! She couldn't even refuse! He should have talked to her about her riyaz, her gurus, how she managed to master many languages, her diction and how she maintained her sur and bhaav while singing tough classical songs etc. That is why an appropriate interviewer must be selected for such jobs!

Copy singer of an original singer is a compliment, craze, role model to that singer . I can ask this same way why not many youngsters not inspired to sing in Asha's style.
I am not qualified enough to judge whether Lata is a better singer or Asha ,but one thing I've always noticed is that Lata ji always praises and talks about everybody that have helped her ,whether a big celeb or small ,Lata is more down to earth is what I feel .

Lataji's voice is complete, mature, crystal-clear, extremely melodious, having widest range with tremendous breath-control! Other singers lack something or the other from these qualities! That is why she used to be the first choice for almost all important songs! But Ashaji must be apprecited for carving a niche for herself in presence of her celebrated elder sister!!!

It was OP Nayar who made her first grade singer by ignoring legends like Shamshad Begum and Geeta Dutt and not RD Burman. But unfortunately Asha Tai never accepts it. When RD came in her life Asha Tai was already a super star. Nayyar Saheb was first to made her sing for a heroin in Naya Daur. But nonetheless nobody can sing like her. Live long Tai....
Ashaji always says that none of the music directors did a favour by giving her songs.They knew she would fully justify their belief in her.Op Nayyar also knew that she was extremely talented but she needed some honing of talent to shine more.
