This video popped up in my recommendation. I felt tempted to scroll by, almost resentful, thinking “Why is God ruining my free time after such a busy day?!” But that thought felt so evil. I scrolled by… but then I scrolled back up. And after watching, I remember how these videos feel so peaceful and loving, not like fire and brimstone, but a warm bath. No better way to relax after a busy day than with this medicine. Thank you Metropolitan Demetrius. Thanks be to God! ☦️

I almost scrolled past this, fearful and resentful but i stayed to listen. Your sermon did not elicit fear like the hellfire and brimstone sermons of the Baptist Churches I attended as a child. I currently suffer from unbelief and an unwilling spirit that the Lord in His mercy showed me while praying last year. I want to trust to be willing but at the same time I'm afraid to do so. Please pray for me and other struggling with the same problem.

This is so beautiful and a bit of a “culture shock.” coming from a Protestant background, I was used to passion and emotion, ego to be honest but In my nascent understanding of orthodoxy; the serenity coming from this man was illuminating. I don’t know if it’s a common thing, but sitting on the “side” during the sermon is so refreshing, humbly saying “we’re here to worship.” Thank you so much for this, God bless y’all and your willingness to serve.

May our God protect our Shepard Metropolitan Demetrius, from all evil. Thank you Despota for your teachings. When you teach us on the gospels, they come to life.
This is the gospel that brought me to the Orthodox Church from the Roman Church 33 years ago.

Your words concerning how our life passes away and all we are left with is our deeds was particularly poignant. I certainly need to keep that in mind and not waste my time so much.
While the gulf that separated Lazarus and the rich man cannot he traversed, I pray the schism that rends us would be mended as the heresies are brought to naught by the power of the Holy Spirit.

@@OrthodoxTradition I don't want to live for myself and my passions, especially fear and pride that have found deep roots in my heart... I want to live for Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for my wretched soul so that I may obtain true phronema in our Lord Jesus Christ. I've abused my time in this life, seeking momentary pleasures and patches for pain in my heart and not laid up true treasures by way of the virtues. I have only just started my life in repentance. God be merciful to me, the worst of sinners. Your Will, not my own... ☦️

are personality disorders like narcissism for example a form of ancestral sin? Would baptism take them away?

    • @OrthodoxTradition

Every type of sickness is a result of the fall. This is why the Church is considered a Holy Hospital. Healing is found when we recognize our sickness, repent, and seek healing.
Baptism does not make us perfect. It is what is needed to regain healing, which comes also with a personal struggle. May God heal us all.
