One of my favorite homemade blends is 40% Ugi 60% Bunna 12. You can make some up in a sample bottle and leave it to marry for at least two weeks. Sherry and Peat goodness. Cheers Jeff
Now that sounds amazing home made blend! I don't have any Bunna 12 to try it but can try it with the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair, but not sure it will have the same effect!

Has all my research failed me? 😂 It is great that Germany ensures that it is declared, however I have found one that states colour added? Maybe some batches are, but you would expect Ardbeg to be embracing the natural look. I shall do more research Baris, cheers for watching!

Never need to apologise for any typos here. I am sure I have the worst typing skills on the whole of whiskytube! Daniels solo work is amazing isn't it! Oh do I live and fabulously adore pretty much all of the Ardbeg core line!! The special releases are completely hit and miss and I am concerned about the heightened prices. Yikes. Customers don’t like to be exploited. I love them though and UIG is my fav. I’ve had many but expressions but I keep coming back to UIG!! It is a favourite distiller along with Lagavulin. Wow colour is added? I have never heard that before. Very disappointing. Frankly it’s unacceptable in this day and age of customers demanding higher quality integrity. Fab video!!
Hi Christine, super sorry for the delayed response, took a little break from all things RUclips. Great choice with the Uig being the best Ardbeg, think I am in complete agreement with you there! With regards to added colour, I have heard mixed things, I did check with a pretty reliable source when preparing for this video and while Ardbeg don't seem to state either may more folk thing it is non coloured. Fingers crossed it is just me getting it wrong and we can enjoy that natural presentation. Thanks for watching, glad to have you along for the ride! Cheers
The best Ardbeg is the closet bottle of Ardbeg. From the Wee Beastie to the ARRRRbeg all have been solid. Really recommend the for discussion bottle - super tasty!

Great review Pete. I've not owned a bottle of this. I own the Wee Beastie, the 10 year old and the An Oa. I need a bottle of the Corryvreckan as I was really impressed when I tried that. It's another £60 bottle though and I rarely reach for peat.

@@JeffWhisky ha, good question...I had the chance to try some great Ardbegs in the past (such as 1970s vintages single casks, old "Guaranteed 30 yo", crazy indies, etc...), but I was unlucky as a collector with 2 times in a row corked bottles of the "Ten" (& certified as such after giving them back to the shop owner/whisky expert & now distiller), so despite decent tastings of it in shows I decided in 2007 not to ever buy one again, but finally on an "offer" locally, I bought a bottle earlier on this month to see if I can "reconciliate" with it...(I'm waiting for the temperature to decrease to open it). I have 4 Ardbeg only in my collection (for for instance 14 Bowmore !) & my favorite are passed OB bottlings such as the "Almost There" I have, or the indie one I have (an Elements of Islay/E.D.)...I like some of their core range or ltd releases proposals "Uigeadail" or ""Wee Beastie" or 19 yo T.B., for instance, but got put off a lot this last decade by too much hype & marketing tricks to make us buy a slighty different variant of the Ten but priced 40 € more...some of these yearly limited releases were decent, but many were quite average imho...so, no it is not my favorite active Islay distillery if you ask me...Also the profile of this distillery's bottlings have changed a lot since I started my whisky journey, they are way more "civilized" or tamed than say 15 years ago...think of a very dirty & dusty Longrow & you might get the picture...
Shame you had a couple of duff bottles, especially in a row! Very impressed by that amount of Bowmore's. I will say you have sold me on a "very dirty & dusty Lonrow" Cheers.

Totally disgusting for the beginner in peat I was !
It has been a while, so really enjoyed your no nonsense approach to a great bottle. If you can, try to get your hands on some older Uigis bottled around 2010s. There might be some samples around 😊

@@JeffWhisky "Better" is very subjective to individual tastes. I have five different Ardbegs of their core line open right now that I'm sampling and my personal opinion, if I had to rank them in order, would be Corryvreckan, Wee Beastie, Uigeadail, Ardbeg 10, An Oa. They are all very good, but good for different reasons. I find it easier to compare the Corry/Uigea to each other and Beastie/10 to each other. The An Oa completely blows out my palate even with just a wee dram, making comparisons harder for me.
The Wee Beastie is a real beauty and think I will have to have a little battle between that and ten soon. The Corryvreckan is now near the top of my wish list. Cheers!

Ardbeg makes some pretty great whisky but I feel like the Uigeadail is better compared to the Corryvreckan. I love all three though.
