This movie was so bad, I can’t remember the last time I actively rooted for the so called protagonist / main character to die at the hands of the evil demons within 5 min of the movie starting.
That's so true. I got the same impressions as you. Its amazing to also see other people having same understanding of this film. There is a deep message behind this movie.
This could have been a good movie, but it missed its mark big time. It could have been a thought provoking statement about the horrors of child abuse if the evil spirits were just a metaphor. If the mother eventually realized that there were no demons, and that she was the evil being in the house. It could have been a statement about the issue of single motherhood in the black communities, alcoholism, neglect, abuse. Instead it turned into a silly haunted house movie that gave the mother something to blame other than her own actions.
@shammaboy that's a good point! And, if the film wanted to have it both ways, they could've had it where the mother was going through a rough time, with her being an understanding but neglectful mother and the demons were festering on it, she could've leaned that the nest way to make these demons go away was to be a parent, not exorcise the demon. I found the movie to be ok. 5/10 but very flawed movie. And yeah, it got medium levels of stupidity in the climax.
Very true! However even with our new identities in Christ we can still fall into habitual sin and give it power in our lives that it shouldn't have. This is why Paul so often had to tell Christians in the churches he was writing to turn away from habitual sin that they had fallen into. -Paeter
@@christiangeekcentral No doubt that's true However we should be ever transforming. The facts of our flesh have never been the excuse to remain the same.
Its based on a story of a family renting a house in Gary Indiana arouns 2011. Latoya Ammons, is the actual name of the mother with young kids being tormented. The youngest son actually died a few years ago.
The family drama angle was interesting. The acting was decent. The possession tropes were all there and expected, making it predictable. The first 2/3 of the movie was ok, but the last 1/3 was where it went off the rails. I guess the embracing God in the final hour part was good to help cast the demon out, but it was not really well developed.
I'm going to give it try! I think the director, Lee Daniels, isn’t a Christian but that shouldn't stop us from looking at a Christian movie made by a non-believer. I love plenty of Christian movies made by secular people: The Witch, Night of the Hunter, The Wicker Man-not the godawful Nicholas Cage version! There is another one I can't wait for either like The Front Room. I hope The Deliverance does a better job with a Christian movie about demons than what I heard Nefarious kinds failed to do with demonic possession. Nothing but a boring, preachy mess. On a side note, I hope one day we'll get another Jesus Biblical epic where it's loosely based on thr accoint whete Jesus casted out the legion of demons from that one guy. Just give it the The Batman treatment: DON'T TELL THE ORIGIN, DEATH, AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST. We already now it. Find another story of Jesus, and make a story around that.
@christiangeekcentral so, I saw it...and it was ok. Man, it's kinda hard to like these characters. I appreciate Lee Daniel's attempt for Christian Horror, God knows we need more of it, but...Ok I did fall asleep for other reasons, so maybe I'm missing some key factory, but nothing that happened in the end really made me want to watch it again. I'm also getting tired of black women being portrayed as b*tches and that they can't handle their own kids because Dad isn't present. .it's a 5/10 for me.
@@jacindaellison3363 It was based on a real family's account of what they believe they all experienced & I don't recall the mom saying her husband/children's dad was present for those events. But there are MANY married/two parent households who have also been known to report demonic oppression, abuse, addictions & other family dysfunctions over the years.
@@christiangeekcentral have you seen the movie Mathew 18? To me that was a much more important movie that involves the same subject matter. I really liked it. A lot of the recent horror stuff didnt keep me on feet and this one did. Really enjoyed it.

Its Apparent that Lee Daniels does not know how to make a horror movie.
You don’t understand if you want some simple you can wrap your mind around go watch the conjuring
It wasn't meant to be a horror movie as we know horror. It is meant to be more of a Christian/Spiritual triller.
And you do? Let us all know when u drop a big film for us to check out.
I had a little trouble sleeping after watching this movie lol but i did not have nightmare, though
I watched it n wish i didnt! Its demonic n two evil
