Thanks for the video! I'm looking to set something up that not super expensive. EVERYTHING online is so so expensive for the tracking cameras and all the equipment. I think a 12ft or 20ft camera tripod, the dji osmo pocket, and a long enough extension cable will be perfect for this!
I’ve been skimming through your RUclips channel and have enjoyed your content and I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm looking to buy a camera that can record my soccer games, but I don't have anyone to manually move the camera, so I need something that can capture the full field from a stationary position. I was hoping you might have some recommendations for a camera that's budget-friendly and costs around $500 or less. Ideally, it should also be easy to use and have good quality video. I'd really appreciate any advice you could give me on this. Thanks so much for your time and keep up the awesome content on your channel! Also quick question: Did you manually rotate the camera in this clip or was it automatically set to turn?
Hi, thank you for viewing my video and your questions. My recommendation would be to buy and deploy 2 cameras, placed on the sideline center of the pitch. 1 camera to capture each half of the pitch. I do this for my football team (can check out the videos at Ace Galaxy FC RUclips channel). Budget friendly brand I would recommend is SJCAM. Video quality wise, not as good as Gopro but good enough for my football team videos. Their higher end models (with 4k) are going for around ~$200 so it would also meet your budget of $500 if you buy 2 cameras. There are video reviews of SJCAM cameras by other RUclips channel, so you can check them out. For this video, the rotation was manually done, on my mobile phone with DJI app. The DJI camera was connected to the mobile phone with a USB C cable. Hope my recommendation and sharing helps you!
Hi, thanks for watching and subscribing. I have not tried similar setup for other football matches. This video was just a trial for setup and how the video would look like.
First of all thanks for posting this video. I was considering doing something similar. Currently I am using a single GoPro 3+ on around 4m height and a bit further away from the sideline and am loosing the close corners, not to mention the lack of resolution for close ups. I have some questions: 1. In your video I have noticed the soft left and right edges when using the wide angle atachment. Are you using the original DJI atachment or a diferent one? 2. Is there a way to adjust the camera movement to be a bit smoother?
Hi thanks for watching! 1. Yes, it was a third party wide angle attachment. 2. You could try the DJI camera's ActiveTrack function for the camera to track the ball or a person. I have not tried it personally, there are other video reviews on the ActiveTrack. Perhaps you can get help from other video reviews? Not too sure if this function is available on a Gopro though. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for watching the video. I didn't have the opportunity to record a football match with active track. My personal take is that for 11-aside game, active track might not be suitable as the ball or player might be too far away for the camera to track.
Hi thanks for watching. For gimbals, I guess you will need to setup on tripod where you can control the gimbal, maybe a low tripod. If it's too high like this setup, you may not be able to control it. I don't think there is Active Tracking for DJI gimbals, so as I said, you would have to control it.
Hi, do you happen to have any footage of a football match but on a smaller pitch such as 5 or 7 aside. I wanted to see how much of the pitch it would capture as my dji pocket 2 pans to slowly for the faster paced game
Hi there, thanks for viewing and for your question. I controlled the camera using the DJI app on my phone, connected by USB-C cable. There is an Active Track function in the camera. But I have not used the function before.

That's an unusual problem. Does your camera have battery problems or functioning properly? Depending on the resolution and movement, this camera should be able to record 2 hours (1080p) or 1 hour (4k), this is based on other reviews. I ran recording for 1 hour (4k) before too.
@@johnporemski9604 yes I can. Just have to watch the ball movement closely on the handphone. I stopped only when I had to give instructions to my team, I'm the one in blue t-shirt.
@@muhammadnorkhairi8990 This is very interesting. I am looking for a GoPro replacement to filming my daughters ice hockey games here in Canada. My daughter is a goalie and I would like to set up the camera behind her attached on the glass outside the rink. Do you think the tracking would follow her around successfully as she plays?
@@roberthagen1966 Hi. DJI Osmo Pocket has an Active Track function which could follow a movement of an object. I've not tried it for a soccer match because the ball might be too far for the camera to track. Yes, the camera might lose the track is the movement is too fast or object becomes too far. You can check out other video reviews on this camera's Active Track function. Active Tracking might consume more batteries, so gotta stock up on the battery juice if recording a full ice hockey game.
