- Singapore has started a fresh chapter in its history, with Lawrence Wong sworn in as the country's fourth prime minister at the Istana. In front of more than 870 guests -- including ambassadors, business leaders and frontline workers -- Mr Wong pledged a different leadership style and to serve with all his heart. He added that the best chapters of the Singapore Story lie ahead. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam presided over the proceedings. He lauded the country's smooth and orderly political handover. You don’t know how lucky you are entitled brat… PAP is probably the best most visionary political party in the world. You want to live in europe or us that is in shambles with immigration, drugs and crime problems with outrageous inflation? Singapore cost of living is LOW compared to these countries. Deal with it… life is tough.
As long as PAP is holding the 2/3 mandate, they do not need to seek a consensus from anyone. Suka suka they can raised to GST 10% after the GE big win. Thanks for those pap voters and new citizens that voted pap.

the job market is so bad right now. I look at the influx of foreign talent paired with employers lowballing salary it's not looking too good for many of us hope the new cabinet can craft better policies to support locals. If this keeps up along with service businesses like f&b hiking prices up by 100% or more I don't think majority of will be able to survive the early career in Singapore. much less scrimp and save up for our housing and retirement. The gst hike was necessary but unfortunately our country is made up of too many sharks preying on such opportunity to cut a larger slice of the pie for themselves.
I think former PM Mr Lee deserved the highest value and honour.May God bless Mr Lee and his family.

You have very low income tax. Deal with it. GST is consumption tax. At least in Singapore they tax consumption and not so much how much you’re making. Everyone else in the world tax income. Why would they hate people making money? Be grateful for PAP
Annual expenditure X 9% X 10 years Plus similar contribution from their household members and then reject the baits and VTO for a permanent solution to the problems of inflation and hardships.
Unlike Income Tax, the GST also tax the Poor and those Retrenched and Unemployed.

Lawrence Wong is a Hobson’s choice for the prime ministership. Can you imagine Lawrence Wong playing the guitar when Singapore is in crisis? Singapore is blessed to have him as our next prime minister, and we now have to make the best of it.

What is the prognosis for Singapore’s foreseeable future? There is hardly any potential talent in the opposition now or even in the future, and the continuity of the People’s Action Party’s (PAP) governance, though not palatable, seems to be an unbelievably foregone conclusion.
When the opposition can present a better alternative than PAP perhaps it can be a reality but right now PAP are the best political party in the world. You want to be ruled by democrats or GOP? Get your head on straight.
