In addition to finding this game highly enjoyable I had to get a copy of it to go with my Power Glove when it came to light a year or so ago. I know only Bad Street Brawler and Super Glove Ball were written for the Power Glove but I figure Rad Racer is a must for when showing someone the Power Glove. Well that and a copy of the Wizard.
One of my all time favorite games. I bought it the week it came out as a kid if I remember correctly. For the record, we didn’t need difficulty settings back then..we beat games the old fashioned way. By playing them until we got real good at them! ;)
Great review! Definitely check out Rad Racer II on the NES. It came out in 1990, and the graphics are even better then this first game. It was also developed by Square. I loved it, and I need to pick up a copy.
Rad Racer was pretty fun for a generic racer. The night scenes were downright gorgeous. The problem is you really need the power glove to really be Rad.
I got this for Christmas one year. Believe me, the 3D effect was never good. In Japan, this game supported the Famicom 3D System with its active shutter glasses. One assumes this was much more effective.
I was totally amazed when day turned to night
I got to admit nearly 30 years later the music in this old game is still stuck in my head, especially the laud back cheery one!

Thanks. I'm not sure, but I might even have 2 in a box somewhere.
Rad Racer is a staple in any collection!!!! Great review bud!
Thanks Creep!
Very exciting game. Especially as you progress and near the end on the night level
Just put my eBay bid in, I've never actually played it, thanks for the review, I subscribed for future goodness.

That would make sense.
I love this game's cover!
It is one of the better. early boxes. But then again, I'm partial to the silver boxes.
Yeah, too bad there aren't that many.
Does anyone have a link for 3D glasses that work for this game on a CRT TV?
#4 Yeah. I totally agree.
I agree with that!
I always picked the F1 as a kid
It's an enduro and rip off except will more price and more power glove
