Friends, a note about color discrepancies because I did such a deep-dive in this video. I noticed when I was editing the overhead footage that some of the shades (especially the metallics Lithium and Symbiosis) actually look pretty different from the picture even though I am literally saying as I unbox them that they look exactly the same. That’s because from where I was sitting, under that light, they DID look the same as the picture. Conversely, the orange shade Catatonic looked much darker and more brown to me in person, but in the footage it looks pretty similar to the picture. Later on, when I’m face-to-face with the camera and I hold up the palette, the footage shows Lithium & Symbiosis matching the overlay of the same picture exactly. This is just a testament to how much lighting affects color, which is what makes it so difficult to accurately depict makeup in online mockups or pictures. In this video, I unpacked the slight differences in colors because I’m obsessed with color and I really enjoy making those distinctions. But to me, the actual takeaway is this: not only do we not have control over the exact colors of the makeup we buy online, but we also don’t have total control over the way makeup looks on our faces, because as we move through the world, we are lit from a variety of angles and with various light sources. It might be a relief to consider this if you are feeling compulsive about tracking down a very specific shade of a specific product-remember, even your “holy grail” shade is not always itself when you wear it. This is also why duping the vibes works. Nothing in life stays the same :) Side note, when I went back and examined the palette designer even more closely with this in mind, I noticed that some of the virtual shadows seem to change a teeny-tiny bit as you move them around in the virtual palette, almost as if the light is catching them from different angles. This is partly because colors are affected by whatever other colors they are next to, but it’s also because there is a slight gradient effect on the pans to make them look more real, so they seem to change because each of the four edges of a given pan contrasts in a subtly different way to whatever it’s flush with. It’s even noticeable when you put several of the same matte shade into the virtual palette and then move them around-it could just be a trick of the eye, but it seems as if different positions in the virtual palette reveal very slight differences in the color, which is how color does behave in life. Lethal TRULY did the most when they created this palette designer, it’s so fun. Thank you for watching!
This inspired me to play around with mixing some of my mattes. The shade baby face has been calling to me from The Child palette. I have the avacado palette and I keep reminding myself it's basically the same. So while watching your video I was putting it to the test, and no its not the same. However, if I mix my matte pastels with it I might be able to get the same effect. I'm going to play around with it some, bug it appears that Lethal does have a very similar shade.
Another potential factor is the color accuracy of the screen you're using when shopping. Computer and phone screens vary pretty widely on their accuracy and user settings also have an impact. Just something to be aware of! Great video, glad you got to try lethal, they're one of my favorite brands
I designed a 9-pan-palette as a gift for my friend by choosing inspiration pics first, and after ordering I also created a "product photography" and added shade names and the inspo pics to make it a whole thing... SO much fun, I totally recommend it for a custom gift and creative outlet 🥳
That "whole production" as you called it was phenomenally done. Kudos to and Joe for this! Your skillz are getting CRAY-ZAY good at filming (both and Joe) . This was the most pleasing makeup review I've seen in over a year hands down. Going to check Lethal out right now! Your custom pallette was gorgeous. That Gucci palette blue shade must have been still on your mind when creating! I know I can't get it out of mine! That 70s/80s blue is Heaven! 💙
ooooh. that matte periwinkle in the inner corner of the shiny bronze eye is STUNNING. ive been searching for some inspo of my next depotted singles palette and i think this might just be it. (now that i think about it i might also just pop in a light matte red, i might just drop it all to do that palette right now)
Yes! I’ve never thought to use a more muted colour in the inner corner for a neutral eye. If I go for a pop of colour it’s usually something bright or punchy. I’m not big on blue, but I can see me doing something similar with a muted mint or peach colour. Or even a lilac. Mmmm want to play with my eyeshadows now!
My lethal custom palette was the first eye shadow palette I ever bought for myself, and it's my first what I would call adult palette. I'm so so glad I chose lethal because the shadows really are beginner friendly. When I first got it, I used the lightest taps of colo, but now I can really build up the pigment. The only color surprise for me was one that I thought was going to be a forest green with gold reflect but is actually more of a deep teal with gold reflect. It's still beautiful, and I'm actually glad it ended up a little different because it pushed me out of my comfort zone a little more.
Hi Hannah! I just wanted to say how much I love your content. I only found you fairly recently when Sam shouted out your Saie review, but I'm so glad she did. You have quickly become one of my favourite people to watch. Thanks so much for all your videos! 🖤
Hannah, our tastes and preferences in make-up could not be more different but you and your videos easily draw me in, over and over! And I am thrilled to see you loving Lethal Cosmetics, Stargaze and Altitude are some of my most favourite shadows!
i've been following her for years and I feel like it all rubbed off on me, i was on the very opposite side too and now I'm all grungy shiny eyeshadow all over my lid :)))) who even am I???
I spent hours and hours playing with the palette builder in the spring and then talked myself out of a huge purchase... and I'm so glad I waited. Lauren posted a Lethal video recently and I was hit with a lightning bolt of inspiration: dupe It's Freakin Bats with this formula (I'd buy the original if it were available). I found that the descriptions were dead on, even when the photos weren't exactly accurate. I've been having so much fun with it 😍
I was thinking color description may be key. 20% off is nice. I think what has stopped me in the past is the cost. I might do a 6 pan myself for key shades I've been craving and use it as a complimentary palette.
I recently made my first Lethal palette and first Lethal purchase ever- a small six pan of all greens. I played with the palette builder for days. I absolutely love it. The formulas are fantastic. One metallic I didn’t even feel sure about that I used has ended up being my favorite pan! (Cryptic) I love when that happens!
Periwinkle is my favorite color! It’s so difficult to find one that isn’t sky blue and also not lilac. And I have been getting into a black shimmer this year! My favorite shade is a Stila single I got a couple years back at a TJ Maxx. Sooo shine 🤤
I got my cup of coffee, propped my feet up and enjoyed my favorite type of video from Hannah: discussing eyeshadow with all of the delicious adjectives! Love the palette you made!
it feels good to enjoy your excitement. not vicariously living thru you, but just being excited that you're excited. reminds me of being a kid when our worlds were smaller weren't always heartbroken w envy ❤️ growing up hurts. so this is good
I literally spent an afternoon on lethal last night and almost spent $200... OOPS. well I didn't, but this video is definitely a very luxurious ad for their brand ;)
I love Lethal cosmetics so much and am happy they got your stamp of approval :) You inspired me to look into single eyeshadows and they are more accessible in Europe than some others.. Great video!
I love the shades you chose. This color story actually reminded me more of the lunar beauty eternal eclipse than the ND palette. It's a really satisfying color story.
What a wonderful review thank you, just convinced me to make my first purchase. I have been in the market to buy a new pallet but nothing was quite right. I had so much fun sitting with my Mum( I’m 28 lol) putting a pallet together. Can’t wait for it to arrive, also I just started watching your channel( found you through Kackie) and you have already changed my view on purchasing makeup. Thank you 😊
Well done doing the most with the eye looks (they are beautiful) and with the production of the video! I appreciate how much work went into this one Hannah.
I love this review, Hannah. Thank u so much for not only giving us a detailed description of how these shadows apply, as well as, and more importantly, eyeshadow color on a screen vs. real life!!!
That taupey-greyish shade is what we used to call "mushroom." In any palette with 12 or more pans I must have a deep dark brown matte, an off white or cream matte & neutral toned transition shade (not too orange not too grey) & a shimmer highlight/lid shade. A black in nice too but not necessary if there is a deep plum or deep green option. It depends on the color story of the palette tbh. I just want a full tonal range from lightest to darkest with some midtones & a good ratio of shimmer to matte. I have deeply set prominant orbital bones & hooded eyes with a lot of space between lashes & brows. I need to really sculpt & shape before going in with color & texture. I never even wore shimmer or color until the last 8 years or so because eyeshadow formulas just weren't very good in the past in my experience. Eye primer, improved formulas & improved skill level on my part (plus the time & money to play with makeup) has made a big difference. I'm not really a "one & done" shadow person anymore :)
Blue and orange/brown is one of my all time favourite colour combos. My consultant doctor who I work with complimented me on one of my blue and orange brown looks and I've glowed ever since 😂 Good to hear lethal eyeshadow is worth it! I tried their blush and hated it so much haha, but their pot eyeliner was really good.
This is so interesting because I had a similar experience to yours when it comes to the colour expectation/reality of these shadows. Most of the photos on the website don't quite fit, but the written descriptions are incredibly accurate and precise. The actual shadows are way closer to what I imagined solely based on the descriptions than they are to the actual photos haha
I love Lethal Cosmetics, I recently bought two of their palettes, and they're stunning! They have one of my favorite formulas. I'm now on a low/no buy and only buying xmas presents, as I've decided I want to use what I have and curate more of a collection that I'll actually use.
Hanna! I just curated my small eyeshadow palette from the few single eyeshadows I have (colour story inspired by Mel's take on ND mini retro, in her honour) . I have enjoyed so using it so much!! I have never thought of myself as a creative person but this makes me feel so artistic ☺️. Thank you very much for showing me the way to use and love what I have!!! By the way, your lethal palette looks to me as everything the UD naked wild west wanted to be.... Love it!
Living in Europe, Lethal have been my go to for singles. Their formulas are lovely, though can be selfish. In that they like to be alone or with a friend, not a party. You cannot layer too many shadows. My favourites are Void (cool tone spring green matte), Vertex (a bright, acid green satin) and Lucid (a deep blue/green base with gold shift shimmer). I'm a green girl. I also have stargaze and also find it likes to play alone. I'm here for that though. I can always top with something from Glam Shop, Kaleidos, Davinah or Clionah if I want more sparkle. Your colour story was really different to what I'd normally go for, but you are turning me on to a taupe shimmer. Might have to seek that one out 🤔
Lethal's mattes are luxury performing eyeshadows for sure...it's so crazy because I was literally unwrapping 4 shades that I got in the mail today while watching your video LOL. I'm so glad you got introduced to them, you're going to love them 🥰
Uuuugh, between this video and Lauren's I think I'm sold on Lethal. I keep a running list of eyeshadow shades for "my perfect 12-pan palette", and when/if I pan the shades in my stash that are on that list I think I might try to save up and splurge on this
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was so helpful and informative. I appreciate the time you took to put together the video and your explanation of the process was so clear. Off I go to play and see how the process works. I love your duping the vibes videos!
Hi Love, I really think you should try the brand glamshop! 😍🥰 Their shadows are amazing and I feel like they have sparkley/ wet shadows that definitely compare to the ND formula you love so much ❤️
this colour story really reminds me of the bh cosmetics beautiful in barcelona! i have that palette but haven't used it in ages; you've inspired me to start using it again!
Really loved this video Hannah!!! You did such a great job with every step and your commentary! I have watched your videos before but I’m a new subscriber now!!! Have fun with your palette!!!
This was the push I needed to make an order! I've been searching for the perfect purple & neutrals eye palette but they all lean too heavily one way or the other, so I had scoped out this palette builder to make one. THANK YOU for including altitude because I definitely thought it would be more purple and we love an informed decision
I created my own palette online and...well...now i have to buy it i guess :D Love your Videos and the intention behind your videos in term of budgeting and thinking about the purchases. Keep up the good work :)
thank you for those swatches I'm really bummed about Surged it looked like a lavender on the website and in fact it's a real blue! They should pay more attention to this because it can be really deceptive for consummers! So thank you for preventig me to spend money on something I didn't need :)
Ohhh I need to go play with my makeup. I don't have these tones and I doubt they would flatter my skintone and undertone but I have silvers, gun metally shades and navy blue. I'm super inspired Hannah! it's always amazing to see someone's taste change, ebb and flow. Edit you did say having some shades to blend those blues into.... I didn't think of it that way. I'd love to recreat this look you're wearing on my deeper skintone , I think a white eyeshadow base would help. Funny I don't know about Hannah or whomever is reading this.... but I'm really into cool tones at the moment and the contrast against my skintone. Not sure if it's cause spooky season coming up or my former goth days creeping back into my makeup either way I'm here for it.
♥ Lethal. Spent over a year in Lethal's brilliant palette designer realm, creating, fantasizing so many utterances of the same palette, with slight adjustments over and over and over, but that is part of the pure joy of it all, is it not? ~~ the foreplay of it all, the process of creating and recreating and playing and fantasizing and wanting ~~ sometimes you just never have to click add to cart, the designing, the play, is sometimes just enough. ....until "they" hit you with a 30 % off sale ~~~ then it's go big or go home?!?! I went big and brought, bought, it ALL home ~~~ a 24 pan custom beauty last March. No regrets. Hannah, you are so right on the placement of a pan juxtaposed to another, in person and online ~~ the colors play off each other, ones that you feel are the same tonally are so very different when placed next to each other, ones that seems cool can become warm, ones that appear purple become blue. Yes, yes, placed on the eyes how different exactly? ~~ as you stated, depends on our own tones how a hue pulls on us. I think to purchase shades online the descriptor of the shade is as important as the photo ~~~ when they say navy or ink blue and you see plum, I saw plum as well, but couldn't get past the word navy/ink and taupe is in the eye of the beholder ~~ no taupe evident in Lithium, but still a lovely shadow. side note: if you ever go back for more you may enjoy Synth, Altitude's sheer shimmery duo chrome sister lilac blue cousin. side note 2: if anyone, ever, ever has an issue with their order from Lethal ~~ never ever worry! { Not that you will, they are amazing.} ~~ but just incase. They are so hands on, right there, on it. The customer service is and actual Lethal employee, who truly care and stay in touch with you. Thank you HLP ~~~~ I may have to use your code and dip back in for the ones that did not make the cut, by no fault of their own, on the first go around......or I just play once again.
It’s interesting that you say that about not doing matte eye looks because they are so easy to mess up. I find Natasha Denona’s matte eyeshadow patchy as hell on me. The only matte shadows that I find super easy to blend are Pat McGrath, which are a whole different story; Hindash’s Beautopsy palette, and Viseart. Tempted to try Lethal now!
Ooooo so glad I read this comment. Despite my many eyeshadow purchases over the yrs, I'm still a novice at eye makeup and have decided to revamp my collection and further keep it small until/unless my skills develop to a point worthy of investing more. So I finally bit the bullet and bought the ND mini retro last month as the pinks are a favorite for me. I had a feeling the silver tone wouldnt suit me well but to have only 1 shade I wouldn't use frequently didn't bug me too much. That 60s shade though? Man I can't get it blend well at all. I've tried several different brushes, including Fude such as Rephr and tried skipping primer but in the end I'm dissatisfied and it's going back. I'm debating trying one of the other minis but your comment worries me and suggests I'd be in a similar place. I guess I need to think about it some more as I really prefer the size of these palettes, both for portability and quantity as I know it'll take me yrs to go through them since I don't wear eye makeup daily (or weekly for that matter).
@@gianninal5455 If you're looking for mauve mattes, I would absolutely recommend the Viseart Midsommer palette, or Divine Rose 2. The shimmers in the Viseart are not up to much though.
@@evashackel134 funny, I intentionally traveled to particular Sephora locations to get a chance to swatch some PMGL offerings thinking DR I was gonna be my perfect palette (DR II seems too bright/bold for my taste) and ended up feeling like bronze seduction would suit my skin better. I was gonna pair it with the ritualistic rose quad (but now I think I'd prefer one of the holiday quads instead) and then chickened out and figured there's no sense in spending that kind of money. I don't have the drive to wake up early enough on work days to do eye makeup, and I'd be too nervous to travel with palettes of that expense so I'd mostly wear the eye makeup on weekends (if even that) so that's why I felt the ND minis would be better for me.
I wanted to try this brand for years because of all the reasons you said. I finally broke down last year when they had reduced shipping. The thing I adore about Lethal is the colors. They always pick unique tones that just capture the zeitgeist. Their customer service is excellent and I think they're a good company. Sadly, I did not find either of the formulas to be anything to write home about. The mattes are very pigmented, but they apply a bit patchy and are difficult to use. It's just easy to make a mess with them, because as you are packing on color it's easy for it to get everywhere. I do love that super dark cool toned brown, though...of all the shades I ordered, that's the one I reach for the most. The metallics are better, but honestly I have a ton of mettalics that are as good. The other thing is shipping from Europe is slow and expensive. To be fair, this is often an issue with indie brands. When an indie brand sends out free product to lots of influencers that I watch, it's really, really hard to resist and I feel like ultimately there is this weird bias that forms. The people who aren't paying for the makeup naturally love it, but when you think about one of those custom palettes costing $60 and up, plus shipping, it really becomes like a big splurge. I have to look at my very large eyeshadow collection and make tougher choices. I was glad to try them, but I probably won't buy again from them....Having said ALL of this, I used a more classic eyeshadow technique (layering mattes from light to dark in arcs in the crease) and maybe I need to do more of an HLP style.
I just used Laurens code and my palette came today....I got all shimmers to compliment my collection of Matt's. The shimmers are outrageously great. I was messing about on palette designer when I got the notification for your video lol
Hi, Hannah! I'm so inspired by your eye looks and would love to see a video of your favorite shadows for sheer washes of shine. I feel like I don't have any shadows that are as glossy and almost wet looking as the ones you usually have on. (If you've already created a video like this, would you mind guiding me to it please? Thank you!
I love lethal!! I have the theresaisdead palette and a blush/bronzer/highlight palette I made from them, Im pretty satisfied with my makeup collection right now but I still love to go on the site and play with the palette maker!
I think they have four or more shades that are sheer with a hint of colour and shine, they all look white-ish in the palette builder but they each have their own reflect, I have the ones that shift pink, blue and green and they all make for beautiful face highlights or quirky ND Sparks tools - i think there is a more yellow reflect one that might fill that gap called "Serene".
Watching in the morning, I was planning for an eggplant look today, but now I might just have to do a periwinkle inner corner and bronze crease… I love Lethal and have 24 of their shadows, and I will definitely buy more…
I've lately been getting into eyeshadow - I just love those grungy shimmers like Hannah does - and been considering gifting myself my first palette and have been loving to play with the lethal palette designer. I'm hesitant purchasing though, having never touched their eyeshadow formula. I've noticed I enjoy really soft, creamy feeling formulas that tend to have oils in them. I'm wondering how the lethal ones feel since they don't have oils in the formula. What are your experiences with the feel of the eyeshadow formulas from lethal?
Love my lethal palettes. For this 12 pan one, i did 6 shadows and 2 face pans (blush/bronzer). Prefer the 12 panner verses the 9, since the 9 isnt an open canvas where you can fit whatever you want.
another indie brand with a popular matte formula is sydney grace. have you tried their formula? how does it compare? how does it compare to natasha denona or any other matte formula you’ve tried?
I've recently been hunting for singles because palettes are catching my eye and I'm feeling gripped with desire for those bright green and blue shimmers. I forgot to consider what this brand has to offer, but Lethal may be where it's at for me.
Like you I've wanted to try Lethal Cosmetics and I finally took the plunge with the Theresa Is Dead palette. I love the palette and I've tinkered with the designer. I don't have any complaints with it but I would be interested in a feature or option that would allow you to post a thumbnail of one of their palettes in a corner of the screen. That way if you wanted to create a complementary or expansion palette, you could readily see the inspiration. I could have avoided unintentional duplication of colors or whole portions of existing palettes.

Your eye make up is so original and feels so organic, and your hairstyle is amazing!
Those shadows look very nice. I also have hooded eyes (VERY hooded eyes) so I totally love how you did your eyes with that first bronzey look
Thank you 😊
Nocturnal is by far one of my favorites from Lethal, and in my whole collection
Well done doing the most with the eye looks (they are beautiful) and with the production of the video! I appreciate how much work went into this one Hannah.
Thank you so much!!
This is my favourite ever makeup look on you, those eye colours with the lip are perfect and, as a pale person, I might need them all.
Love it!! Your palette looks so much like BH Blueberry Muffin. Went right away to grab it and enjoy it again!!
I love the artwork in the beginning with you and the kitty 😊
My consultant doctor who I work with complimented me on one of my blue and orange brown looks and I've glowed ever since 😂
Good to hear lethal eyeshadow is worth it!
I tried their blush and hated it so much haha, but their pot eyeliner was really good.
ooo! i would love to see you do a look with that deep blue shimmer
that light blue corner remings me of the blue shade in the gucci palette, you liked so much
This is so interesting because I had a similar experience to yours when it comes to the colour expectation/reality of these shadows. Most of the photos on the website don't quite fit, but the written descriptions are incredibly accurate and precise. The actual shadows are way closer to what I imagined solely based on the descriptions than they are to the actual photos haha
Great review. You are so good at explaining colors.
Giving me Gucci palette vibes, with the blue.
Might have to seek that one out 🤔
This was such a fun video to watch! And I am loving those matte looks.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the comment!
If Blurple is what you're after, you should check out Menagerie Cosmetics. They make some bonkers purples.
Your hair looks incredible here!
Hi Love, I really think you should try the brand glamshop! 😍🥰 Their shadows are amazing and I feel like they have sparkley/ wet shadows that definitely compare to the ND formula you love so much ❤️
The production value was A plus plus plus
:)
This is giving me BH Blueberry muffin vibe!
this colour story really reminds me of the bh cosmetics beautiful in barcelona! i have that palette but haven't used it in ages; you've inspired me to start using it again!
Thank you for such transparency with lethal!!
The editing and detail in this video is spot on. Your product reviews are great and just getting better!
I created my own palette online and...well...now i have to buy it i guess :D Love your Videos and the intention behind your videos in term of budgeting and thinking about the purchases. Keep up the good work :)
thank you so much!!
Inspired to use my lethal shadows today; thank you 🙏
thank you for those swatches I'm really bummed about Surged it looked like a lavender on the website and in fact it's a real blue!
Not sure if it's cause spooky season coming up or my former goth days creeping back into my makeup either way I'm here for it.
this video was SO FUN thank you for all your work putting it together!
The palette you designed reminds me of the Viseaet Milieu palette, but with shimmers included. It’s so pretty!!
hey, new background angle! I like it!!
this eye look is so so beautiful!!!
Hannah, your reviews are soooo good and detailed. Thank youvery much!
I've wanted the Stargaze shade since it came out. Stunning!
ok right off the top I am OBSESSED with your eye look today!
thank you!!!
I've built 5 palettes, but yet to pull the trigger...glad you posted this :)
I love the eyeshadow palette and look you created!! I feel like I under utilize matte pastel pops of color like this
Love this eyelook!
Such a pretty color story, thank you for the inspiration!
The look is sublime
Hi Zack!
@@HannahLouisePoston I have to say, I have adored your content recently. You will forever be my favourite content creator on this platform.
Oh my god YES! I cannot wait.
My Lime Crime Venus II has a very similar vibe. I love that palette, I've had it for years but it still performs well.
plz do your dupe palette vid for pat mcgrath's new holiday palette! it's so big i can't wait to see your take!
You won't be sorry!! Dip your eye shadow toe into Lethal!! Great shadows, great company.
@@evashackel134 also I HATE chunky glittery fall out and Pat's special shades terrify me in terms of finding the fall out to be too annoying.
Your color story kind of reminds me of the new Gucci palette! It's very beautiful.
I’m now obsessed with the palette designer…!
I was honestly so excited to watch this! Thank you!
Also tempted to use your code to make a mini Matt palette 😂
Arcade from lethal is one of my favourite singles in my collection, super sparkly and versatile
Beautiful!
Love my lethal palettes. For this 12 pan one, i did 6 shadows and 2 face pans (blush/bronzer). Prefer the 12 panner verses the 9, since the 9 isnt an open canvas where you can fit whatever you want.
What is the small pointy brush you used to apply nocturnal? Thank you!
What are you wearing on your lips? Look effortless, red but somehow natural and muted. Beautiful Hannah LP
thank you! It's a Revlon lipstick, I linked it in the description box :)
@@HannahLouisePoston ah prolly mink or rum rasin, got it )
another indie brand with a popular matte formula is sydney grace. have you tried their formula? how does it compare? how does it compare to natasha denona or any other matte formula you’ve tried?
i love how the colourscheme you ended up picking out looks like the gucci palette LOL
I've recently been hunting for singles because palettes are catching my eye and I'm feeling gripped with desire for those bright green and blue shimmers. I forgot to consider what this brand has to offer, but Lethal may be where it's at for me.
Did you change your backdrop a little bit? Or is it just me?
Like you I've wanted to try Lethal Cosmetics and I finally took the plunge with the Theresa Is Dead palette. I love the palette and I've tinkered with the designer.
I don't have any complaints with it but I would be interested in a feature or option that would allow you to post a thumbnail of one of their palettes in a corner of the screen.
That way if you wanted to create a complementary or expansion palette, you could readily see the inspiration. I could have avoided unintentional duplication of colors or whole portions of existing palettes.
