Well done to this young lady and to the band for encouraging her. When I see videos like this, It really drives home how screwed up this world is; why can't we all live in peace and harmony regardless of our differences?
That bit of helping hand the older gentleman gives her at the beginning, showing her "the drop" beat. Wow, that warmed my heart, reminding me that the love of music knows no color, no religion, no sex. And for having never played reggae, she picks it up pretty fast, throwing in some nice fills and never letting fear of the unknown or the unexplored get in her way. Just amazing. This restores my faith in humanity.
As a father of a young drummer daughter I can say that I'm so proud of this young woman and really proud of her dad and mom for their support. This is really heart touching, nice listening and super cool! There is no reason to critique the drumming at all. She obviously can play!
more than glad reading your comment . no words for further comments .in two and half lines ,you covered all. indeed enjoy watching her ,she is so suit ,she express her soul .my compliments to her and to her Dad (all the boys we know that the relation of the dad and his daughter is incredible ,some times ,make also the groom to feel jealous) and to her mother .buon weekend to all people here - in the music we trust
REGGAE is one of most difficult rhythm to play, all those Caribbean music are very Intricate, but this Young lady Nailed pretty well, Congrats to the BAND to allow her to play with them.
Love her modesty and shyness near the end, when the guys break down to give her some space to shine on her own in a solo! She simply keeps in rythm and has no clue whats happening but just keeps loyal to the group as a whole! Its the little things.....
If this is her first time; absolutely brilliant. As a drummer in his 70s when I had to learn some reggae licks, (when we had coach and horses) I had time to rehearse and listen to a load of people before being able to play in front of an audience. Go girl!
Drummer girl has my respect. Reggae drum is tough, and you see the bass man dancing giving her props because she banged It out! Rocksteady! That roll at 5:15... that's it!
When you see this live and go home, you know you just simply have to go back to Jamaica and soak up that ambience! That young lady did her parents proud. Reggae is no joker’s music. She stole the show.
Classic mahn. When Rasta's make music, they are happy and always a smilin. Thanks to Bob and all the Jamaican boys for introducing this planet to Reggae. Respect.
Wow, so beautiful to see this :) And she can playyyyyy, man! She has the beat in her :) Don't stop growing, young lady! Keep inspiring us drummers all over the world :)
It takes a lot of nerve to get up there to jam with anyone, even if you have years of experience - so she pulled off the double whammy by stepping up to the challenge AND gaining the band's respect playing to material she's probably never heard before. Excellent!
REAL Musicians are like that, I started as a nosey kid of ten during the WW2 Period asked questions, listened intently to Great Men such as Baby Dodds, Gene Krupa, Sammy Penn, Albert Jiles and others, years later I had several bands playing Strict Tempo Dance, New Orleans style Jazz, Latin and Rock 'n'Roll,,all thanks to those patient professional men.never met a grumpy Muso in all my time. The ones I actually met were always encouraging, I'm sure this 'tradition' still applies . Terry Offord
Terry Offord I have met a grumpy muso she was classically trained in violinist and I called her the the dragon lady. But I must agree most are very patient
Awesome groove, awesome music and an awesome drummer. Love that the band let her sit in on those songs. She is a natural. You can tell she loves drumming and see the joy on her face. Hope she's still drumming.
To Ju Li: she plays drums for 2 bands in Montreal, but never to reggae beat until this very moment I recorded her...you say never? Well you are wrong. Never say never!
This young lady is IN the reggae groovie better than many professional drummers I have heard ! His light, lively style suits fine with the traditional GOOD style these fine Jamaican gentlemen have.
Love reggae muzic... Especially to that girl. Maybe she first played a reggae music.. For me it perfectly play.. Keep it up girl.. Love you all... 💐❤️🙏
This girl is so beautiful. Making her parents so proud, gaining so much from this experience i bet. Nuff respect drummer girl, and big ups to the fellas letting her sit in
Tuning into her skills, playing in time Making everyone feel please Doing her thing with ease Playing drums, probadly thinking about rice chicken, and gungo peas Whilst playing in the island breeze
Thanks.. here's à place for love . Brothers , sisters ...no colour , no differences . Blood is the same for everyone . Really woul'd like to live moments like that , one day , in Jamaica .. remembering brother bob nesta Marley . HUG from france
Ehren: I call this real reggae or syncopated reggae. This style is unique to the Jamaican culture which the world can relate to. The new hip-hop or dance-hall is just a rock/calypso beat (I like calypso) where they just toast or rap over. Too much noise and slackness.
Now that's what music's all about. Coming together and play togehter and let everyone who wants to sit in be part of it....and if someone is a bit unsecure or thinking "maybe I´m not good enough..." encourage him/her and make them feel comfortable. Hey theese are not the f*#ck@€n' top 40 charts or " xyz's got talent " ....it's real unvarnished music, a coming together and you should have fun by playing that way and not have thoughts of competition....and that's what it seems it's all about at this place. Great vibes, great music...awesome ! I wish there where more places and people like this seen and heard in the video. Congrats to all of the musicians in the video who seem to share that mindset. :-)
Laurent: She must be familiar with the reggae genre. It is massive in Toronto and for someone who is in two bands, indicating polish, this would pose no problem for her.
Pretty catchy beat for first time reggae response give that Aire feel when all in sync keeping that mallow mood alive for sure thank you for uploading.
The band is amazing - loved everything about this ! The only thing is the microphone sound could be turned up a bit but, beautiful ! To the young lady, life is about memories - this is so wholesome ! Cheers !
Vassilis: Paradise: It should be, but... Do your research, ask around, communicate before you commit. Certain aspects you need to be aware of prior. The more you toil, the more you will enjoy.
She is very good: plays with rhythm and soul. Her technique is very good with the reggae breaks and intros and is obviously familiar with reggae and probably had practiced with recordings although had never played this genre with a band. She possesses a good natural drumming feel and mentality.
Good job, expose her to as many genres as possible. Each one adds a layer of experience and she can add certain layers of one to another. Be a well rounded musician and you will always “sit on the throne!” Drummers’ throne that is!
I hope my two girls pick up the drums from me. their 7 and 4 right now and don't show too much interest yet. I Just remember when I was young playing all the times I could whenever I'd get the chance.
Derek: Expose them to many instruments and genres along with using the RUclips videos in order for them to choose what they would desire musically. Think of this as a hobby of joy for them so as not to put undue pressure.
Well done to this young lady and to the band for encouraging her. When I see videos like this, It really drives home how screwed up this world is; why can't we all live in peace and harmony regardless of our differences?

The only genre of music where you can have band practice and a live show at the same time.

The cutest female drummer I ever seen. A salute from Argentina- Reggae Roots Rocks!
GREAT amazing video indeed. The band is so GOOD and the girl is mind blowing at the drums for her first time reggae 🔥❤

Sorry, Bob Marley did NOT introduce this planet to reggae music. Where were you in the sixties and early seventies?
