    Incredible job on this review! I designed this as my "dream fixed blade" in regards to size and carry. Fixed blades are awesome, but not always practical for EDC. It's one of those blades that you won't fully "get" until it is in your hand, and until you see how slim the kydex sheath and clip setup are. I wear it while seated, constantly (and don't even realize it). Everyone who has had one in their hand on clipped to their waist so far has said the same thing. We will be using this knife as a platform for future customization. Things we want to produce, include additional hardware colors, handle scale materials (carbon fiber, anodized titanium, aluminum, copper, brass, or even G10), as well as different blade finishes. We have to walk, before we run. After this initial production run of 500 pieces starts to sell out, we will be dropping additional accessories for this knife.
    We've already had requests for making it in a 'super-steel', which we are seriously also considering. For what it is, I think that Sandvik is more than enough. An edge-retentive, corrosion resistant steel that won't break the bank. It is also a lot easier to resharpen, whenever needed. Pound for pound, one of the best bangs for the buck in the budget-friendly knife world. I'm all about value, over bragging rights. The collectors that want super-steels usually aren't always even utilizing them. To me personally, it makes little to no sense to have to blow $100-200 on an EDC fixed blade just for a specialty steel; especially when I also rotate my daily carry constantly. What do you guys think? For this type of knife, would you like to see it in a higher-end steel than Sandvik?

      Funny you say that, because I actually have sketches where I played around with having a sort of 3 quarter finger choil. The gap it left made the blade a bit too weak, so we ended up sticking to the ring structure. Kudos on designing, though. It sure is satisfying to create something that is both useful and stylish.

    I really like that sucker. Thank you so much for the good review. It looks like a knife I plan on getting. I like the finger hole for stability and as you know no one wants to lose their knife in a life or death situation. In a self-defense situation we have to size up the situation fast and decide what is necessary to diffuse the situation. I agree with you that a good knife, more importantly a fixed blade, is a good option for self-defense. I have a couple folding assisted knives that are nice for EDC but in the event of having to use it for self-defense Im a little leary, I study the liner lock to see if the blade is securely set in the liner lock. With the knife you just reviewed I won't have any issues with blade failure. Love your channel. God bless and have a good day. 😎👍

    Blades work. Just not in every situ. One can look to that story of the 11 yr old who cracked a home invader over the head with his machete for example. Was just a little kid but it worked in the situation. However if your opponent has a pew pew then you may not want to try & take him with a knife etc. Especially if your out in the open but blades are extremly useful in tight spaces. Its all about context & id recommend carrying both if one can.

It’s pricey but USA made. Then again, you don’t have to spend that much and you could purchase a smaller blade and get a discrete carry concept clip and added to that knife. Agree strongly with the 2 blade carry idealogy. I have two set ups depending on what I'm wearing or doing. The light rig being a Kershaw Switchback for work paired with a Cold Steel mini Leatherneck for defense. The bigger setup if I'm wearing jeans or shorts with a belt and enough pockets; Benchmade AFO automatic and a Cold Steel Counter Tac. Both usually with work blade on the strong(gun) side and the fixed blade on the weak side.

      I designed this more as a handy utility knife that I can conceal for comfortable carry. It's cool how everyone sees it in an entirely different light. Jeff from Cutlery Lover channel loved it most as a neck knife carry. Different styles and different strokes for different folks! It is a very capable little blade. If I designed it for self defense, it would have had at least another inch or so of blade.

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  5 месяцев назад +2

      Less than lethal is not about the idea as much as it’s capabilities. It is of course about to be lethal but it many cases it won’t be. People seem to be more worried about the law than their own survival though.

    • @ArenaAccessories
      @ArenaAccessories 5 месяцев назад

      @411Outdoors I totally hear you. It would take fair effort to not be lethal with how it was used, trying to avoid major arteries and instead in a way where it would thwart the attacker or immobilize them enough to get away. One move and it could most definitely be deadly just as a hammer or a brick. Those just are not as easily concealed or carried.
      Knives are tools, and while they can be dangerous, they also can add a lot of function. Your car or motorcycle can help kill you. Time and unexpected events befall us all. Are you going to avoid the roadways because of this? Not practical. You also can be sued at any time if you happen to harm someone in a car accident. There is risk of this constantly in life. It doesn't mean it can be avoided entirely, ever.

    Thanks for the video.
    As I've said many times, I'm paranoid about putting my finger into a hole like that. I would be afraid of the knife hitting something, twisting, and breaking my finger. I accept that the relatively short blade makes that scenario less likely. If I were going to get a knife with a ring, this might be the one to choose.
    One of my first thoughts on seeing a little knife like that is that it could be attached to a staff of some kind fairly easily. If one were stuck in the wild for a while, one could use this knife to make a spear. Ideally, one would find a solid limb of a useful length. One could cut a long groove in one end of the limb. The knife could be put into the groove and lashed in place with cordage. The ring would help make that connection more secure. This kind of spear could make hunting rabbits easier. While this blade wouldn't stay in a fish very easily, the right technique could make this spear effective for fishing in a survival situation.
    I'll at least take a look at this one. Maybe I can't make peace with the ring, but my nephew is a knife enthusiast. I'm not aware that he shares my paranoia.

    • @ArenaAccessories
      @ArenaAccessories 5 месяцев назад +1

      You would have a heck of a time twisting or bending this thing. It is super rigid, even with the hole. The pokey stick / spear idea is also a great point in a survival hunting or self defense situation. Quick and easy "stinger stick"! 😄 Thanks for watching and commenting. It always helps the algorithm.

    • @VTPSTTU
      @VTPSTTU 5 месяцев назад

      @@ArenaAccessories I'm not talking about twisting or bending the knife. I'm talking about the knife staying rigid and maintaining the integrity of its shape but twisting or turning in a way that would break my finger. That's my fear with any of these knives that have finger holes. I have the same fear with brass knuckles or any variation of knuckles. They aren't gong to twist or bend. If they go in the wrong directions, they'll break my fingers.
