- I took my float tube to Strawberry reservoir for some early ice off action. People were still ice fishing but there was open water at the Ladders so I gave it a try. It was cold but I got into some nice fish.
Cold day, nice water and good fishing for sure, thanks, thumbs up and greetings from New Zealand, Tony.
It was cold for sure. The heated socks helped with the cold so it wasn't too bad
Looks like a chilly float 🥶
My hands were the only thing that were cold. The socks are nice. Have been out at all?
Nice! Thanks for sharing the trip and your gear selection. I’m such a gear junky, it’s good to hear about stuff that works… like the heated socks, so smart.
The socks are nice. they have 5000 mah batteries with 4 heat settings--no complaints so far.
Nice job! Looks like a fun day.
It was a fun day indeed 😊
Love your channel. How about a tutorial on how to fish balanced flies? They seem like your go to flies.
I do use them a lot. They typically our perform non balanced versions when hanging below an indicator. If you're not suspending them with an indicator then there's little if any advantage. I tie the vast majority of my leech patterns as balanced because simply because they are more versatile--they are superior with an indicator but fish also fish well with cast and retrieve.
Finally was able to use the new tube, went to Strawberry. The tube is great performed well, the fishing was great.
Nice, i'm glad it worked well for you. Just so you know, I've come to prefer the fins that it comes with it. They work great
I used them yesterday, they do work pretty good. Thanks
I have a pond that you should try in Heber
Heber is awesome so I believe you
You should wiper fish Wasatch pond it’s lots of fun Or on Jordanelle
Use a pistol Pete fly and subscribe to my channel
@@profishinjr4880 I've fished Jordanelle many times but never the Wasatch pond. Ill have to give it a try 👍
Are you sure that is Strawberry? Where is the apocalyptic howling winds? Just kidding - great ice off cutts!
The hurricane showed up at the end to keep the tradition going at Strawberry.
Brother... I don't know anyone besides you that will float something barely thawing out! :) Still... you landed some nice ones. Thanks for the share.
Question... do you have thoughts on fishing kayak vs. float tube? I know they each have their place... but if you had to pick one, which would it be?
Its all about the heated socks. They're awesome for tube fishing at ice off. Something you'll appreciate---there were a ton of cicadas on the water at the Green a few weeks ago
Well, the kayak is defintely better when its comes to keeping warm. My buddies fish off of them. I've only been on them a few times. Tubes are definitely easier when its comes to transporting them. I just use my Flycraft any place you would use a kayak. I do see a ton of kayaks in the water----people like them
Electric socks in the water? Caught quite a few. Gotta hate it when the wind comes up.
The socks are fine in your waders. You can even wash them in a washer. You can pretty much expect wind for at least a while on Strawberry haha
Do you ever get them on the reel, or just pull them in?
Both but just end up pulling them most of the time.
TroutHowler’s on the berry huh. I better get ready for ice off.
It's time slinger--you should go!
Typical cutthroat barely any fight in them at all. I wish they would stop planting them everywhere.we need more tigers and Brooke trout!!!! But great job on rip in a lip!
They definitely don't put up the fight that most of the others do but it still makes a for a good time.
That first one was nice. Glad you got out and very nice to see you using that tube.
Fins: do your feet slap when kicking? That's something I always hated about strap-on/platform style fins.
I've never really noticed them slapping. They cinch down fairly tight. I'll have to pay more attention next time to see if they are slapping around.
What float tube are you using?
It's called the GoPlus. I got it on amazon. I have had several people ask about it------I'll probably do a short review of it since people keep asking
I ordered one also, finally put it together today, seems pretty decent and a great price. Need to try it out, what fins are you using?
@@larryelkington4639 I bought some ultralight Outcast fins for when I pack the tube into places. I spent $40 on them. There are several different non major brands (including the goplus) that now come with knock off fins that are identical to the outcast ones. If you look on amazon, some come with them and others don't. I'm assuming you picked one that did'nt come with them since youre asking
@@TroutHowler thanks for the info, the fins that came with the float tube are a little sketchy, I have some caddis fins from my old round tube I’ll probably use. Hope to see you on the lake one day. Mine came with fins, pump and paddle. Thanks
Brrr! Awesome stuff! 👌
Cold yet awesome 👍
