- The Cavalry Corps of the Irish Defence Forces celebrated its centenary on 14th Sept 2022 with a parade of its historic vehicle collection. Many of these armoured vehicles are unique
Great to see a new video. God bless you Karl. From Limerick
Thank you Robert. Hope you are keeping well. Best wishes.
@johndunne9673
It's part of the Army's historic vehicle collection
Good to see you're still at it! No MRV/30mm?
Hi Chieftain No the MTV with the 30mm turret-mounted cannon wasn't there. Six are in service but so far have never been deployed outside Ireland as far as I know. Thanks for your comment.
Lovely footage Karl. Leyland looks well. No sign of the Comet? Any particular reason. Every thing else sounds sweet
Thank you Paul. I understand the Comet restoration is continuing and it was recently re-painted. I should add that the Cavalry Corps takes great care when operating complex tracked vehicles on the road in case any mechanical fault should cause an accident. Therefore I expect the Comet will only appear in public when it's fully restored and in perfect mechanical order.
@@karlmartin2698 many thanks for rhe update. Looking forward to see the Comet in the future. Lucky to gave such a fine example of the finest Brirish Tank of WW2 running in this country. Keep safe
@@trpsarge Yes, I always think a Comet (and the Centurion) look like 'proper' tanks! Awful pity the Comet didn't see action earlier in WWII as it would have saved the lives of a lot of British tank crews.
You'd hear the L60 coming so you would 😁
Great stuff Karl 😄
Great video
Thank you Michael. I was luck the oldest vehicles all started - except for the Leyland which seems to break down every time I'm around....
It's ashame theirs no Comet or Churchill tanks would've loved to see one.
The Churchill is unlikely to run as parts etc would be very difficult to find and very expensive anyway. There is a Comet under restoration in the Curragh Camp and hopefully it will be a 'runner' in 2023.
@@karlmartin2698 Ah shame really I would have loved to see the Churchill but is understandable and the comet now I can't wait to see that are you gonna film it when it's restored?
@@JamesHussey404 Hopefully I will get a chance to. I will put the film up here when I do.
@@karlmartin2698 Looking forward to it thanks for the replies.
Please don't say the tank at the start is in current service
Should be in every st patricks day as a mark of respect to all who served
