    This 63yr old owns a 2015 Spark 2LT EV in lime green and I have a few physical problems from when I broke my left shin and dislocated both hips and the knees in 2002, so yeah I hear ya. Right now the car has 46 miles of range, maybe when it's warmer I'll have as much as yours does. Good luck! And that was a very good video.

      I hate background music. I hate the free music you tubers can use. It's so irritating. I have done a few videos where I use actual real music here and there. When I do I check to see if that song can be used and many times it can if I am willing to give up my You Tube earnings for that video to the copyright holder. Duh! I don't get any earnings so fine with me.

    Just wanted to add a little tip. In most electric vehicles, as long as the charger can deliver more power than the car can accept. Running accessories like heat and air conditioning should not slow down the charging speed. That charger can do 150 kW that spark EV cannot accept more than probably 50 kW.
    I'm not sure whether the car shows you what the inbound kilowatt is I think it does. But you could certainly test it. Look at what it's giving you turn on the heat full blast and see if the number changes. There's no reason to sit there cold while you're hooked up to a charger in most cases.
    Cool little car, there are more and more electrify America stations going in all the time they're up to 554 locations across the US. I believe they're going to be adding 300 more this year.
    Also if you find that one of these stations is something you would use regularly, it's worth getting the membership plan with electrified America. It's $4 a month. But you wave the $1 connect fee and it gives you it $0.15 per minute instead of 21. So if you use it a lot it's definitely worth it.

      I would love if they'd make some short range compact EV's. I don't mean short range as in 80 miles the Spark EV had. I mean low hundreds. Maybe 110-130 miles. If they could sell them in the low to mid 20's that could be a great deal.

      Thank you. When things in my life are not going that good I try to think of the good things. For instance, I had to have a minor outpatient surgery a few years ago and had to see the surgeon in his office a week or so prior to it. I waited in the waiting room 3 hours plus after my appointment time. Everyone was pissed except me. I did not like it but was not mad because I kept thinking that people 200 years ago would've gladly waited in that office 3 weeks to see a modern day surgeon and I should thank God above I was born in the modern age of medicine. I was a little agitated but more grateful than anything.

    Just purchased 2016 Chevy Spark EV. First impression pleasant to drive. Steady on the city roads but I will adjust the tires or get new tires because dealer put the pressure at 45 psi each time so that could cause a little bit of a hard ride. The car has 32,000 miles and after I charged to 100% it showed possible 80 mile range; I read that the gauges change based on your driving habits so I will give it a few more days on that issue. Range is at 70 (left gauge in middle numbers) after I charged it to full. I am trading in a 2013 Hyundai Accent SE with 23,000 miles. I did not get a good deal from the dealer but that APR will kill you if you don't have excellent credit. Car has a few dents but dealer I am sorry to say did not mention them nor did I see them until later. Your video tips are invaluable.

Also, the 14 has 400 ft. pounds of torque and the 16 is.....I think around 320 but that might not be right. It's close though. The software cut it back in 15 from what I understand. I am a big fan of the leather wrapped steering wheel in the Spark EV so I'd rather have the LT2 but just because of that. • @ArkansasEV
      @ArkansasEV  4 года назад +2

      I can't fill up at the destination because there is no place to charge anywhere I go. I have to make sure I can get home on the juice it has. If you mean you travel 30 miles round trip then don't worry about it. Even in winter this car will easily make it unless something is wrong with it. If you mean 30 miles each way then it'll easily make it in summer and probably not in winter with heat on a comfortable level. If you are willing to be cold in winter it might. I say might. Batteries don't perform as well in winter.

    • @werlder
      @werlder 4 года назад +2

      You should be charging the car every night at home, and it shouldn’t cost much about a few bucks a day on your energy bill. How much it’ll cost to use a pay charger depends on the type of charger and the area you live in (laws are different state to state). Where I live, level 2 chargers are charged per kilowatt hour, and it’s around 40 cents here so to go from an empty battery to 100% is about $7.60. Level 3 “fast charging” is charged per session here , and it’s usually about 10 bucks unless you have a membership with a specific charge station network.

    $10 for two hours of charging is terrible, and the gas version, that would give you more than a half a tank of gas, and that’s about 170 to 200 miles range, but I still think EV’s are cool

    • @ArkansasEV
      @ArkansasEV  3 года назад

      True but what you may not have thought of is level 3 charging, very fast charging, is something most do rarely and only while traveling. It's more expensive than gas most times but it's just a price you pay for driving over 70 miles or so. These cars are not meant for road trips. They are meant for a single purpose of traveling less than 80 miles in good weather....60 in bad before you arrive home again. They are great for the average commute to work or running around town or even the next town or two over. They suck if the intention is driving long trips with them. Almost every owner does almost all of their charging at home. In N.E. Arkansas I can get 80 miles of juice for roughly $1.30 which is cheap even with low gas prices. It'd incredibly cheap if gas gets expensive.

  • @BLUExEYEDxSLICKT
    @BLUExEYEDxSLICKT 3 года назад

    Now the challenge is being able to get one of these cars as cheap as I can as I’m poor as hell on SSI disability of less than 800 bucks a month income. So yeah… My chances of saving money or getting a bank loan to own a Chevy Ev is like the range issues of getting farther and energy saving of the Ev lol.

    • @ArkansasEV
      @ArkansasEV  3 года назад

      Geeez, you must've either gotten disabled at a very young age or made very little money or both. The way I understand it is SSDI takes your top 35 earning years and does something with it. They average it and then it goes into some type of formula. If you don't have 35 earning years then you get zero's for the missing years. I got disabled at 37 so I only paid into SSI 19 years so I had 16 zero's. That hurt a lot and why I tell folks "if you are gonna get disabled wait till you are at least 45 or 50 so you'll get more money." Still, I get a whole lot more than you do but not nearly as much as many. This is also why children who are born disabled really are in for a rough time because they will have 35 zero's in the formula meaning they get the minimum for the rest of their lives. I'm thinking about $700 but I can't remember for sure. That's so sad. If you are able you can work part time. I work 10-15 hours a week and it really helps. It gives me something to do plus helps us financially.

      I don't hop on ice. I don't drive when ice is on parking lots because I can't get to my chair in the back without hoping.

      I have no idea. That was too long ago to remember. I do know level 3 charging is not cheap. It's more for convenience when traveling over being economical. I doubt it cost any more than gas would have but certainly much, much higher than level 2 chargers or level 1 at my house.
