I just don't understand why they shoot the cougar....it was in the tree and they could just look them self in the car . Lassie for sure did not felt good about it . She even still had to race her young . !!
Part of the reason is that this was before the generation known as the "hippies" and "tree huggers" etc.had the influence to change laws and procedures to protect wildlife AND the human population. Which included not showing the destruction of animals in film and television programming. People can knock them for using narcotics and being subversive and a lot of other things, but if it wasn't for them and they're achievements in politics and particularly concerns about our environment, many of us wouldn't have the same reaction as you've had seeing one of God's magnificent creatures being hounded and slaughtered.
I love this series of Lassie and wished they had more shows like this one.❤
The trainer who trained Lassie did a excellent job with the training of the dog.
