    If you received your M66 preamp and it isn’t fully functional because NAD is still developing the software, check with your dealer to make sure that the clock on your trial period/return policy is not ticking

    For several years now, the development has been moving towards dullness and lack of brilliance, perhaps as a fear of being referred to as the Taunus sound, both when tuning amplifiers and loudspeakers. I experience this in the sound tuning of my Mission ZX-3 - an excellent loudspeaker with a live character - but the treble range drops too much. Better after angling it to the listening area... I prefer the Yamaha when it comes to amplifiers... The rhythm takes you away 💃🏻🕺🏽. Nevertheless, the design of Mission seems noble to me and the functionality is really great 😀👍🏻...

      Thanks but it is a demo unit from my local Hifi store ! I was lucky enough to get it early and to pair it with my new mono amplifiers and they match very well. Now The price difference with my NAD M10v2 is significant, about €3K and it is hard to swallow to be honest but ultimately the sound is better so I will be getting one soon. I only wish they offered a larger display like the Hifi Rose 130 does.

      This seems to be a great piece. The functionality and options it has it's really setting up a new standard. Room correction built in and 4 subwoofer outputs with capabilities to adjust each one independently. I just wish it wasn't that expensive

      When playing TIDAL etc.: Does it not show "MQA Studio 96000 Khz" the way it does with my current Atoll ST300 Signature? Or the bit-rate when playing FLAC 44 Khz / 16?

    I am interested in this piece mainly for DIRAC and the streaming part. I wonder if the internal dac is of high level, comparable e.g. to Accuphase /McIntosh etc. separate players/dacs
    Also, how is the tactile feeling of the knob? In previous Nad products I have seen it is light plastic, very cheap. I hope this is different

      It is hard to compare the DAC chips of different systems as the implementation may differ and is equally important. The sound of the NAD M66 equipped with the ES9038PRO is neutral, accurate, and very transparent, with high dynamic range, and low noise floor, the vocals are truly amazing and organic and are a joy to listed yo. The DAC chip is currently the best on the market and quite high-end so I don't expect it to be outdated in the next 5-7 years for sure! And yes, you are right about the streaming and room correction features, they are quite unique and well integrated in the BluOS. Note that Dirac are planning to launch the ART functionality on the NAD M66 in the near future (ART basically adapts your speakers to the layout of the room). More information here. www.dirac.com/live/dirac-live-active-room-treatment/.
      PS: The knob is made of metal and is very sturdy so no worries there

      @@chrisp.916 Thank you for your answer, very appreciated. Another thing I can't find is output voltage on XLR (when using fixed output to connect to an external preamp), maybe it is selectable?

    • @chrisp.916
      @chrisp.916  7 месяцев назад +4

      @FabriG-yd5ft Yes, the NAD M66 has a selectable output that allows you to choose between balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA connections. The output selection is made using the "Output" button on the front panel. The NAD M66 has an output voltage of 24.59 dBu via XLR. This is equivalent to 4.768 volts RMS.

    So if it possible connect to external preamp only for m66 streaming and dirac live

      The NAD m66 is a preamp so connecting another preamp would not make sense although possible
