It's nearly time to celebrate Silicon Valley's role 'n rock at San Jose Rocks' second annual San Jose Rocks Hall of Fame induction ceremony 5:30 p.m. on October 19 at San José's History Park, 1650 Senter Road featuring live performances from 2007 inductees Papa Doo Run Run, Greg Kihn, and People.

Formed in Cupertino in 1965, Papa Do Run Run hit the charts in 1975 with "Be True to Your School." The group, which will be inducted into the San Jose Rocks' Hall of Fame in the rock band category, went on to earn two gold records, a Grammy nomination and was Disneyland's celebrity house band for 15 years.
People, another inductee in the rock band category, began in San Jose in 1967 and a year later had a smash hit, "I Love You,'' on Capitol Records. These days band member Larry Norman can be heard on Christian Rock radio stations worldwide.
Rock performer inductee Greg Kihn emerged as a star in the 1980s with hits "Jeopardy" and later, "The Breakup Song," "Lucky," and "Remember." He now hosts a daily morning radio show on 98.5 KFOX.
Other inductees include radio personality Mikel Hunter Herrington; music equipment innovator Dean Markley; and rock promoter Paul R. Catalana.
The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds will also take its place in San Jose Rocks' Hall of Fame as a rock venue. Folk-Rock Festivals produced there in 1968 and 1969 drew some of the biggest bands in rock history. On the fairgrounds lineups were Jefferson Airplane, Jim Morrison and the Doors, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Muddy Waters. The fairgrounds also presented one of the first live shows by Led Zeppelin.

San Jose Rocks, a fundraiser for History San José,was launched last year by co-founders Tom Muller and Dan Orloff, at a concert that featured Jefferson Starship, Paul Kantner, the Syndicate of Sound, Count Five, John Tristao and Doug Curtis.
Tickets for this year's party, which also includes dinner catered by Crunch, induction ceremony and live auction, are $125 and may be purchased at www.sanjoserocks.org. General admission tickets for entry to the concert are $35 and concessions and seating will be available.
