I enjoyed this! This is exactly how a jam with a large number of pickers should be done - give EVERYONE a break, and play quiet backup when they are doing so. To often everyone will just try to overpower each other, and keep the song to maybe 5 or 6 breaks, then end it, kind of like what happens at the Station Inn more than not!
I LIKE THIS TRADITIONAL WAY OF PLAYING THE MELODY, AND VARIATIONS OF THE MELODY, SUCH THAT YOU ALWAYS CAN TELL WHAT SONG IS BEING PLAYED. UNLIKE A LOT OF THE NEW STUFF WHERE THEY PLAY A THOUSAND NOTES, BUT NO MELODY . WELL DONE
Great rendition! I have always been a fan of Stuart and Noam.
This is so good, just love these musicians and their embracing this music. Very humbling.
Wow! There is a whole lot of talent in that room! These guys aren't just playing, they're playin'!

Yes sir! You're absolutely right! That's what I love about bluegrass.
What about Tony Rice licks tho?
Definitely considerate that Noam Pikelny did not try to show off by cutting the other banjo players.
@@geordiehalma7323 RICE IS A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER BUT HE ALSO DOES A LOT OF PLAYING WHERE HE PLAYS NO RECOGNIZABLE MELODY . JUST A LOT OF VAMPING RIFFS
@@kishintuchis7076 true....
Great players, and so young.
Bluegrass as an universal language. Beautiful
ANY ONE OF THOSE GUYS WOULD BE A WORTHY ADDITION TO ANY AMERICAN BLUEGRASS BAND
Thanks! Please hire them!
4:26 one of the best banjo breaks I've heard
Oh yes! I love his version!
Japanese guys and gals not off the pace
What part of Japan is this?
Perfect
What's the name of that first banjo player?
Sorry for late reply. His name is Takumi Kodera. He won the 2nd place of the Walnut Valley National Bluegrass Banjo Championship of this year.
@@akihirokanabishi8134 Thank you!
@@thorolse He uploads many videos of his own playing. Please check it! ruclips.net/channel/UC8sEgABy5U4zTQsVMQxXX8Qvideos
@@akihirokanabishi8134 , This is great stuff. Thanks for the link.
That guy is really, really awesome. Scott Vestal took 2nd at Winfield also. He's in good company!
1:30 Noam-approved banjo lick
The second banjo player has a great style too, super distinct plucky tone and nails all the classic tags!
Awesome...
Nice jam!
The Orientals can only copy...
Please, Japanese friends do not listen to this idiot.
But, by God, they do it well.
Quit being a racist idiot; everyone copies, that's how you learn
I'd like to hear your copy
They are good! Loved it!
