    Wow, this looks like an absolutely fabulous aircraft with lots to learn. I also saw on the MSFS forum BBS intend to retrofit all these features back to the Islander which is my favorite Island hopper. I know a real life captain that flew the Trislander for Logan Air. He told me the climb is a constant combination of leaning the mixture, adjusting prop pitch whilst watching the carb temps. He loved it, a real challenge to fly but its STOL performance with 18 pax was excellent. Great video, many thanks.

    I loved these aircraft, i used to go to Alderney alot from southampton with my sister and i always would try and sit behind the pilot because you were liturally behind the pilot flying, like an old mini though the doors were like cardboard. Great to fly again in FS2020

    I remember going to the channel islands for the first time must of been 1994, flew from Jersey to Guernsey and was fascinated by the noise these little yellow planes made. Yes, best position was right behind the pilot so I could see what they were doing, try and learn what they were doing, just in case! Good old days, no longer in service I understand (channel islands).

  • @happydappyman

    Yeah the carenado aircraft are pretty and all, but then they have issues like generators producing power as long as the switch is on regardless of whether the engines are running. At the end of the day I'd rather have realistic systems. I have no desire to zoom all the way in and examine rivets. Though it is nice too.

    I've gotten over my snobbish take on what planes I want in MSFS. Sure, I want them to look great (Caranado) but I also want things to work or just want them to be fun to fly. The visuals don't have to be perfect but I do want a nice looking cockpit/gauges (as I'll be looking at that much more than the externals). I haven't yet grabbed the Islander but I plan to in the future. I picked up the EMB-110 a couple months back on sale and while it has some issues, I actually enjoy flying it. Fight now it's grounded due to an issue with the Garmins and performance that hopefully will get ironed out the next sim update. The Trilander definitely looks like a handful. Noticed a couple small airlines in the Caribbean fly these so perhaps it will be a future addition to my fleet. ;)

  • @DEFkon001
    @DEFkon001 2 года назад +1

    I enjoyed the Islander - Decent price, good quality, maybe a bit lacking in the visuals - but as you say they do a good job of supporting it. When there are updates to the sim I've never had an issue with the Islander not being ready to fly as I have had with other aircraft..
    That being said I've never heard of the the Trislander.. and had I not been told otherwise would have assumed it to be some kind of fictional design or rare prototype. I might give it a chance, but I feel like my hanger's nearly hit it's quota short take off prop/turbo planes. Between the Islander, Pilatus, the Twin Otter, Kodiak its getting a little crowded.

    Found the diplomacy (given that you were provided the aircraft by the developer) in this one amusing. I mean come one, that interior cockpit modelling and texturing is absolutely miles behind the current / expected standard in MSFS. The room texturing seriously looks sub-FS9. Look at the new FlySimWare C414's cockpit modelling and texturing, then compare it with this.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  2 года назад

      And he updated it based on my feedback. I have to be careful when things are provided by virtue of not being rude, but I didn't say they were good... and I called out the roof specifically which was fixed before release.

    are the version of this aircraft on the Blackbox web page and in the MSFS Marketplace the same aircraft? same version? I'm asking because it's $14.50NZD on the MSFS Market Place, but $53.00NZD on the Blackbox Sim web page? ... I want to get one, I instinctively want to buy the cheaper of the two, but don't want it to be less in quality, but then again, don't want to spend twice as much if they are in fact the same air craft ? ? ? can anyone confirm if they're the same version or not?

    • @rbasomb
      @rbasomb 2 года назад +1

      Its the same engine. It has to do with the sound of the tip of the blades. 3 blades = lower diameter = lower tip speeds = a little less noise near the passengers in an aircraft that is already too loud. But in the rear engine they didnt bother, 3 blades are more expensive, so they went with the cheaper 2 blades instead.

      Yip. I know, the texturing in the cockpit is abysmal. Whether it's fun or not it still has dreadful cockpit texturing. Please don't become another reviewer shill.

    I find it hilarious that people pay so much attention to the quality of external textures of an aircraft. It's a flight simulator! If a person is spending time and focus on the external appearance of what they are flying...you're doing it wrong!

    • @Foxtrot_EW
      @Foxtrot_EW 2 года назад +1

      Dude! No! Its both! Obviously it's a flight similar and we want it to fly like it should. But there is nothing wrong with wanting awesome textures in 2022 with the technology we have in the 4K tvs. Remember a lot of us like to fly outside of our plane and 3rd person as well and we don't want something ugly to look at that looks like it was from the atari 2600. So is it so wrong that we want both? Nothing wrong with the best of both worlds and some of us are graphic hounds. Not doing it wrong because I've been flying flights simulators since they 1st came out so I know how to do it but I also like beautiful textures just like avengel.

    About your comment near the end where you said that "it's easy for people to become hateful" [..about questionable quality, like the inside textures in this plane]. Well maybe, but in that case you surely have to apply that equally across the board. We've all heard you clearly call out poor quality in other aircraft, but in this one (which you said you'd been given a copy of from the dev), the very poor quality interior texturing is wholly forgiven and we're encouraged "not to be hateful". Whether you were given a copy of this or not, and whatever else is good about the model, the interior textures are really quite poor, and you should be respecting your audience by having the courage to state that clearly. Otherwise it just looks like your in the developers, who give you free copies, pockets.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  2 года назад +1

      I'm careful with what I say in general, however when I'm given a copy, I have to be a little more delicate... nature of the industry. However, in this case I did give feedback directly to the developer and he did improve the interior textures for release.
      I respect my audience, and I try to also respect the developers and be honest, but polite. Fact is the interior is fine with a few tweaks, which the developer did do, its a sliding scale, for function, the texture part becomes a slightly smaller issue, not goes away, but becomes more on balence.

      @DavidRogers007 2 года назад

      @@AvAngel - Well you have earned my respect for that response, AvAngel. It would have been easy to take my criticism personally and come back defensively. But you did not, and instead I acknowledge and appreciate your point. Thank you, and keep up the good work.
