  • In this video I show you 3 ways how to stand up on a slackline:
    the chongo mount
the knee drop mount (static and dynamic)
    the sitstart (or sitmount).
It's up to you which one you like the most. I suggest trying the Kneedrop mount or sitstart, during chongo I once injured myself.
    Good luck!

I know this is an old video but... I nearly stood up on a longline today for the first time after watching this. Was trying the pure sit start and chongo and was getting slapped all over the place. Tried the drop knee on my 2" line and stood up! moved over to my 1" line and could sit nice on a drop knee and it just felt better. I'm sure it will come eventually and thanks for the quick easy reference video.

Really great tutorial, thanks for taking the time to make it :) I'm just getting into highlining and am stuck at getting up from sitting...feels impossible at the moment! I can do sit starts on a low line but take it up high and the fear gets a hold haha but it is great to be a beginner at something again. Practise, practise and some more practise needed!

crazy, the way you do the dynamic knee drop mount is how I used to get up before I learnt how to chongo. The reason I changed to chongo was because I got sores and skin abrasions on the part where my shins were on the line. Does the same happen to you? Apart from that i felt like the knee drop was more gentle on my knees than the chongo.

The dynamic knee drop mount is the reason why I am still slacklining. Chi go have me an injury on my meniscus in my right knee. Can’t do that anymore on that side.
The KDM is not so pleasant for your skin on your shin.. but that heals quickly and you build up some strong layers there soon 😅 at least better than injuring yourself with a chongo..

@@JonasKonijnenberg I fully agree Jonas. I destroyed my left knee doing the sit mount, and then the right knee doing the chongo mount. Two meniscus surgeries in one year .... If I want to continue slacklining, i will need to learn the knee drop mount. Your tips are very important to me!
      Thanks

Does it count as a mount if I grab the line and pull to rotate onto my feet from the sitting position

I hope you see this. Would u recommend doing this in shoes? Or is it too dangerous? I prefer to wear shoes when I slackline as I find it slightly more challenging and the park I slackline at has a lot of branches and rocks so if I was barefoot I would hurt my feet. I was able to do the knee drop mount but I had to go barefoot. When I was practicing it with shoes it felt like my shoes were slipping easily compared to my feet. I’d like to be able to knee drop mount with just my shoes but I wouldn’t wanna put weight on the foot and then slip and fall off completely

Hi Santi, shoes is possible! just get some sneakers that are also good for skating. I like vans or supras a lot for slacklining. Also barefoot shoes can be great. Or barefoot socks, like skinnerz

@@JonasKonijnenberg ok thanks for the tip. I’ve actually been enjoying going barefoot against for the most part 😅. There’s just something ab touching the green grass with feet that makes you feel good. And it does feel like it’s strengthening my feet , plus the fact that when I fall I have to fall really controlled as to not land on a branch and I have to properly absorb the impact

hej thx for the help. do u think it is important mounting with ur left and right foot similar good?

Hi! You're welcome! Thanks for watching bro.
I don't think it's important to be good on either sides. But mounting a slackline requirs quite some mobility of ankle, knees and hips. So being able to do similar moves on the ground is definitely important to be able to do.

You can pull on the line in front with a hand a bit, and that helps a lot. You never showed that.
