It’s terrible wrong. The govt needs to stop bullying poorer people and those that are homeless. If the govt isn’t going to address the problem positively then leave this man alone.

well few years back i told a council office worker to pee off my farm they want to charge $90 to check septic tank every year his words were mate its not your land so i rang the police but he took off before they got there they are low lifes

I'm 50 and been homeless for over 10 years...
I cant reasonably or realistically see a future where i am anything but homeless .
The worst part of being homeless is the fact the government wants you to just not exist or be seen ...ive been moved on so many times ,even in the middle of the bush ,,,its ridiculous.
At least let people camp somewhere so they can create a certain amount of comfort and have a certain amount of certainty,that they can sleep without being moved on ..and when they move you on...where do they seriously expect all these people to go?

I’m sorry that must be really hard. I know of others in your situation and councils need to come to the party with alternative by-laws immediately.

It’s right across Australia, you are aloud to camp on your property for the maximum of 6 weeks only, we have two families in our town who have bought land in town to build their homes on, they are living in the caravan or RV but it’s now winter so they are waiting for summer to build their homes. The council don’t care, they were told to go to the caravan park, but there is no room for long term tenants as we are a very popular tourist town. They can only park down by the river for 6 weeks only then have to move. It’s nuts really.
But if the house was in the middle of being built then they can camp on the property during the building of the house which takes longer than 6 weeks here during the summer as it’s just too hot in the afternoon. Most people are up with the sun to get the work done before the heat of the afternoon sets in.
@@dawsie Can they do six weeks on site and then a week in the caravan park, then another six on site, etc?
If the caravan park has no room ever, for that week, they cold do whatever in their vehicles during the day, and then each night, park in a different rest zone on the highway, because they're all to tired to drive until morning.

In this time of crisis you would think governments from local to federal would have some compassion they don't even offer an alternative at the very least. There would be many, many more people out there living in garages, sheds and caravans in friends or relatives properties....I know people living in cars and even then in some cases they get moved on by police woken up during the night because it upsets a resident that has a roof and warm bed. This country is pathetic

why not tents there looks to be plenty of room for up to 12 good size tents which would help the homeless.....
Yet you go over to WA and there's old aboriginals that have been sleeping in cars for YEARS. Some don't actually WANT a house because that means all the relatives will move in with them. And they want to live just with their wife not a bunch of nephews.

Yet if he was squatting in someone’s already built house it would be all fine and dandy. I know many in this situation and councils need to have an overhaul in regulations and by-laws in many states or the tent cities and homeless camps will start looking like America’s, that would be great for tourism.

It is time councils got to reality , It is just he himself and the bus he lives in and he is maintaining the property while he is there. It is not like it is inner city Perth . It is a lot more than I can say about half the councils that are around the as I see as nothing but pure greed coming from them.

On private land that pays rates so he should be allowed to stay with the owners permission council needs to have more compassion for the public the only issue would be toilet issues so hire a portaloo and keep the area mowed and clean
Wealthier people are moving into neighbourhoods that are affordable. They object to the things that make it a less desirable area. Councils ignore stuff until paperwork starts.
Get out where no one cares yet. Only option. If the bus runs.
With the homeless/housing crisis.the Government needs to legislate , a happy and productive medium, so councils, don't have the right to come in and disturb peoples peace of mind, and use empty promises, a well worn and rehearst response we assist those in need bla bla by giving them a number to salvation army, and other outreach services that are already breaking under current strain.most councils are draconian bully's.

Everything the Council offers is Contract....offer and consent....try just writing a letter...saying thankyou for your offer to contract but I will stay where I am...and if you still require me to move I will a happily consent for a fee of 500,000 dollars....If you do not respond within 14 days, I will consider the offer null and void.. kind regards
If someone does this, is the expectation that the council workers will just be baffled and put the issue their too hard basket? Cause I think they’ll probably just issue a fine, and then send the police later to force eviction and so on. I do think appealing to mainstream media and public opinion is worth a lot tho.

Billies Basics...also I don't think they can throw someone out of t heir home.. ..offer and consent...he can say sure if you can provide another place for me to live...and he is obviously not capable of such an enormous task...

If his mate owns that land then he can certainly offer someone to park on it ! The council has no legal right to ask him to move unless the owner of said land complains I would have thought?
6 months ago i couldn’t get a rental even with 50k in the bank so i took my caravan up to Russell Island in qld because they have cheap land, i was going to buy a block and park my caravan on it and start building a house, i found out this was illegal and i would’ve been kicked off my own land, i had to get a rental and now im paying $450pw for a basic apartment.
Just heartless
We need to sack all the councils everywhere all they do is take our money for rates and then control us on our own properties and tell us what we can do and what we can't do on our own property

Perhaps it merely needs a sewerage connection to comply.. something council social services could provide. I agree .. housing prices are too high. I wonder what housing is being provided in that area for the (poor) elderly.
In the USA people are free to do this all day every day. He should have the freedom to live this way if he chooses
Being close to the same situation it's extremely frightening for people at the end of our working life to find any housing security.
We are housed on a month by month basis and the few things we have are in boxes in case we are asked to leave.
Everyone talks about wealthy boomers but that's not true, some of us missed that boat and have very little to offer todays heartless society.

Disgraceful behaviour from the council . How do people get on living in town camps ? Or does this unjust victimisation only happen to the fair skin population ! Seems to be the typical behaviour one would expect from a grubby counsellor who clearly doesn't care about anyone doing it tough on a limited income .
So how is he getting power, water, sanitation etc? Is it a health issue? I think the Project could have found out more about why the council wants him to move on

The council want him to give money to the caravan parks where other buses or fifth wheelers are parked. We've heard some councils have drones checking if you have pools. They will also send you notice if you don't have one because your address was incorrectly identified 😂😂

When the country is in a housing crisis and the government prefers people to be homeless than having a humble living on a friends property the end is near. Something like the French Revolution but the Australian version is near. The blokes got nowhere else and options are slim. Stop kicking people while they are on the ground looking for a hand to help them stand again.

Lets see what “work” the council has NOT attended to in the area. Rather than controlling people, they are employed to fulfil their responsibilities of maintaining their council area. Thats what they are actually paid to do. Lets see..probably poor roads, poorly maintained council owned areas. Poor park facilities or unmaintained structures. Peeling paint and only council roads where council employees live being maintained. Yep pretty much every council area.
There should be more of this so people with properties can rent i bit of space to get extra in come and give people somewhere to park there vans or buses

It's all about money like the man said caravan parks don't want long term residents pensioners are priced out of housing, units and flats renting has gone through the roof, I am a pensioner I just managed to get a unite which cost me 1680$ bond with 310$ per week plus pay electricity water bills not mention registration for my car it mounts up then you got bugger all left we pensioners are done for 😢
