술탄 오브 더 디스코는 자칭 '인디계 최초의 댄스 아이돌'이라는 독특한 컨셉으로 주목받기 시작한 팀이다. 결성 초기 디스코 음악을 기반으로 퍼포먼스 위주의 무대를 보였던 이들은 멤버의 구성이 달라지며 지금처럼 올 라이브 연주와 댄스가 가미된, 정통 디스코 밴드로 자리 잡게 되었다. 술탄 오브 더 디스코는 국내는 물론 해외에서도 인기를 입증했는데, 2014년 영국 글래스톤베리 페스티벌 초청에 이어 섬머소닉, 캐나디안 뮤직 위크 등 다양한 나라의 크고 작은 무대에 오르며 국제적인 활동의 가능성을 열었다.
술탄 오브 더 디스코의 [아임라이브] 공연은 펑키 디스코 밴드라는 이름에 맡게 한 시도 몸을 가만 둘 수 없는 흥겨운 무대들로 꾸며졌다. 이들은 '오리엔탈 디스코 특급', '탱탱볼', '요술 왕자' 등을 통해 반복적인 안무와 단순하면서도 경쾌한 멜로디로 관객의 떼창과 떼춤을 불러 일으켰다.
