  • David Guttenberg, a former Alaskan legislator and Joelle Hall, the AFL-CIO President in Alaska were both skeptical of who would benefit from Ranked Choice Voting in Alaska - but, both were quickly persuaded that RCV benefits the voters after the 2020 election. Coalition government is good for Alaska. Coalition government is good for America.

Comment on the Moderate Middle: You probably find the concept of a "moderate candidate" troubling because you are a radical of some kind. Open Final Five Primary Elections are far more effective than RCV alone. (Alaska has Final Four Open Primaries; an even number plays into continued bipartisan thinking; the odd candidate is free to not choose a side to keep things "even." Single issue idiots like Henry Hyde, US Rep from IL, do not bloat the Congress or any legislature, or executive office, With obsession with an all consuming blockage. Hyde wasted years of legislative time on obsession with the abortion issue. In disagreement with 85% of the American people. Gun rights. Separation of Church and State. Equality under the law for all people, etc. Let the 99% open the process to agreed solutions. Solutions agreeable to a vast majority of voters. Open elections moderate positions to the point where agreement can be found. No civil war over radical positions. Moderate: Mod-er-ATE, verb. "Come to agreement."

You keep using the word "moderate". When it comes to elections I have a very negative concept of a "moderate" candidate.

@@richstevenson4934 I'm discussing candidates and you're discussing rank choice voting, which I'm 100% for.
I'm extreme left, meaning I want healthcare for all, free upon use. I want free education and a focus on green energy sources. An end to war. Most of all I want employee ownership of the workplace. So I want abundant good things for the planet and the people.

That implies that people on the right DON’T want things that are good for the country. I think that’s inaccurate. There is just disagreement as to WHAT is best. To get to the original post, THAT is why we need moderates and an ability to compromise with rational and peaceful means. Sniping at each other has got us where we are. I see the main purpose of RepresentUs is to get corruption out of the system & minimize the impact of money in our government.

@@DaveL0522 When it comes to every day Republicans they are sick and tired of false promises. I can understand that. Immigration and trans and books in school are emotional triggers and not the real issues facing us all.
