I'm from Boquete, you can Google it and you will find that is a top touristic/retirement place within the dense cloud forest, close to mountains and beaches. Enjoy a cup of Geisha starting at $4.50, Geisha Liquour and Geisha Porter Craft Beer.
if you're someone that's not a coffee taster you would still be able to taste the difference. Geishas start to not taste like coffee and its more tea-like with a lot of floral aroma and flavour.

@@davidxxavier7942 I don't understand your point. you asked why pay $100 coffee when you can have cheaper coffee. So I said it is true for everything. Why buy a high end BMW when you can buy a cheaper car? (it has nothing to do with making coffee on your own. This $100 coffee in the video is the coffee bean price, not the brewed cup price. They are buying the $100 coffee beans).
You don't understand, that for us coffee enthusiast, it is not just a comodity. Something we just quickly chug to get caffein into our system. For instance i am an part time barista and an university student, meaning I don't really have a lot of money, but I buy a bag of geisha here and there (nothing this crazy expansive, think maybe coffees that are like 3 times more expansive than regular speciality), because coffee is my passion and a hobby.
If you want to taste apple jolly ranchers in coffe, easy way is to put a green jolly rancher in your mouth while drinking some light coffee. I give this same advice to people trying to find the taste of figs, chocolate, and black cherriee expensive wine.
I don't know about you guys, but when I buy a cup of coffee, I want it to taste like coffee and not a green jolly rancher!!! This is a lesson in what good marketing/advertising does to raise the prices.
The day I, LipstickInMyCoffee, pays $100 for some coffee will be the day that.... that’s it. That’s the comment, bc it will never happen. I know Graham Stephan is gonna blow a gasket when he watches this video.🤣😂
I spent over a month in italy, where they have amazing coffee for cheap. espresso for a euro and a cappuccino for 1.20. Its here in America where I see we are being scammed to pay a lot of money for mediocre coffee...
Italy has trash coffee compared to american 3rd wave coffee. the shops are really only in big cities but once youve had it, you will never look back. i bought a legit espresso machine bc there was one of these shops close to where i used to live.
@@JewelsView Yeah, it's you who got scammed. Italy regularly uses cheap robusta coffee in their espresso, which is mass produced garbage they put in instant coffee. You happen to like bad coffee, good for you, but don't try poo pooing American coffee because most of the coffee that we Americans enjoy actually comes from places like South America and Africa. Which you probably didn't know. Also, cheap coffee comes at the price of coffee farmers being exploited for cheap labor and not getting a fair price on their produce. Aaaand lastly...wanna guess what the expected volume of roaches come with mass produced garbage coffee? Or you wanna skip that part?
High end tea can get far more expensive than high end coffee. Google "Da-Hong Pao". 1 million US dollar per kilo. Far more expensive than this $1000 coffee per pound.
Graham Stephan should buy some of those expensive blends and review if it is worth it compared to $0.20 iced coffee, then charge it as a business expense while earning RUclips revenue
Sorry for the late reply. Grind as you would an Ethiopian, and hopefully you have a grinder that doesn't produce too many fines. Use a lower temperature than normal, I'd say 90-91, because Geisha doesn't extract as quickly as other coffees, so the draw down will be longer (as will the brew time). Lowering the brew temp offsets that somewhat so you don't get over extraction. I go 20g to 300ml, Hoffman method with expected brew time in the 3:30 to 4 minute range at 91C. I wouldn't recommend using a 4:6 method on this bean, it's got way too much floral and fruit notes to use a coarse grind imo.
I live close to a coffee mill so I get to drink very cool anaerobic coffees at free, before people from the world goes and pays a bunch of money for them.
yeah, that's not even remotely true. Geisha coffees have a pretty distinct taste, especially ones from the Lamastus and Peterson family. Even someone completely untrained in the coffee industry would be able to tell the difference between a Geisha coffee and other cups....even you. I know this because I did exactly that. I bought some Geisha coffee at $140 per lbs and had a tasting with some friends and had three other coffees there. Even my friend's wife, who doesn't like coffee, could tell the difference. His reactions in the video are genuine. Panama produces some of the best coffee in the world.
Wanna do this the easy way? Let andrew yang win with his UBI plan and do this, so that those Starbucks employee won't be effected since they will get 1000 month....if they are US citizenship only
Don't trust it. Especially when Vietnamese Coffee and other international coffees exists. Why would I pay you people $100 for a cup when I could probably pay the growers at the source for the coffee? Especially if I can support the growers at the source.
You can purchase beans directly from the source. Lamastus farms has a website, as does the Peterson family and you can join their mailing list and request a sample box. But being that they're a farm/producer, they don't ship in small quantities. The whole idea is to sell in bulk to roasters. So no, they won't sell you a 1lb bag every month. However, if you want to buy a 100kilo sack of unroasted coffee beans, that's another story ;p
This channel has now officially turned into the channel which’s only reason for existence is to provide Graham Stephan with material to react at.
Yes 😆
gwimmer98 SO TRUE 😂😂
$0.20 iced coffee or $475890864367 coffee? Lol
Lol, they’re trolling Graham at this point

I drank Geisha everyday for a week in Panama. It was only 8-10 dollars a cup. Delicious. Beautiful country.
Graham. Where you at? 😂
Nick Allen I know right
Graham and CNBC Make It are just in a symbiotic relationship at this point lol
Do a blind test with folks(or people) who are coffee tasters who know nothing about the price or story.
That's actually the process coffees go through in the competition before they go to this particular auction.

Where is my .20 cents ice coffee gang ? Or for me 0.12 cents
0.09 cents for me
Why paying $100 when you could pay 20 cents for it?
When you have more money than brains
you can either enjoy things mildly or greatly in life.

Taste like a green jollyrancher?? Hmmm I'll pass I only like the red ones
$100 cup of coffee...Tastes like Kool Aid. No thanks.
But it tastes like an apple Jolly Rancher! (Worst Jolly Rancher flavor btw) ... Yeah this is a joke lmfao

The process sounds interesting. Hopefully more people start utilizing it which would make the cost/lb more tolerable. I am curious about the taste.

7:35 if it tastes like koolaid then why not add Koolaid to folgers and taste the real thing?
Made in Panama Papá! 🇵🇦 🇵🇦 🇵🇦
From a record price of $13 per pound in 2003 to $1029 per pound in 2019 we’ve reached the point of diminishing returns.
This video has told me more than I ever care to know about coffee brewing.
6:50 of course it’s juicy, it’s 99.99% water.
Way too over priced, congrats to the owner
Here before graham reacts to this video
I just lost some brain cells reading the title. Stephan Graham where are you?
They already did an episode about the three waves of coffee.
I’ve had two different bags of Geisha ASD from Klatch and they really are amazing. I’m a big fan.
Swedish coffee is superior. Gevalia, Löfbergs etc. - INCREDIBLE!

Not sure how this got my into my recommendations but very interesting guys I think I’ll keep watching it
In simple terms, they are sick of the normal coffee taste.

How can you make this video and now show his brew process/ratio and grind for the 2 cups that he made!!!?
