I can attest to the usability of this pedal - have used for five years and as a utility guitarist I find it musical and useful. Have even run acoustic through it. I tend to favor the Vox models but find the Fender and Marshall do just fine. Very versatile and takes pedals well. Over the years I've built my pedalboard and now only use it to primarily give me the amp ton. It is nice that the unit allows you to grow with it in that way.
Just an FYI the little pre-amp tube is used at extremely low voltage and has a little orange LED behind it to make it 'look' like its being used at full wattage. Its a nice touch, but doesn't make this any less digital.
I've really been enjoying mine. But can't see the display outside. Also, anything metal, in the west TX sun. Gets too hot to touch in just minutes! Is there anything made for shading pedals and other electronics, while on stage? Often the roofs & awnings at outdoor venues. Are too high to provide shade.
It does have a bit tube sound due to valve reactor. But that's relative. What's even more important is the feel. I believe one can get a decent tone out of any decent amp or processor. But tube break-up, and PI distortion is something you can only achieve with cranked good quallity amp. Still, Vox is closest to that stuff, that I know. +1 for blackstar :)
for thedeepmeridian- hit the control button and you should be able to access individual effects- or just set up your patches with single or multi effects,i.e. rev,delay,chorus,etc...
Hi Gearwire, I've been trying to find a demo of the Vox Valvetronix Tonelab Module online to no avail, apart from one on youtube that is really just a pictoral guide to it's appearance and features. Any chance you have one to hand that you could make a proper demo vid with? It's a longshot I know :0) failing that, can you tell me anything about it.. worth buying? Cheers Gary
@@stephenmartinez8640 i got the way to solve this problem, the button on that board need to push down a little hard and goes to up...than my problem done...
guys it's very important to use vox tonelab sound editor (pc) to generate or modify presets.. i've got a tonelab LE by 3 years, and using the pc program i get exactly the tone i want everywhere and everytime. It's the best multifx for me, but I have to accept the usage of amp & cabs. Is not properly created as multifx... for this kind of use I will reccommend others guitar footpedals
I have the Tonelab SE and it sounds great for rev ,delay, mod, I do not use it for any dist at all. I run it thru the effects loop of my tweaker 40 and it is awesome, however its kinda big because of the two pedals so I am probably going to get one of these. The wha wha is weak so I run a cry baby in line.
@bluegraf It depends in prices man, you can get the st for a very good deal and it´s not a bad procesor, if you can get the Ex for an accesible price you should, But it would be a smart option to save some more money and buy the Le, i don´t know hehe i´m doing that, i could buy the Ex right now, but i´m saving and i´ll maybe buy the Le, it´s convincing me XD Good luck dude!
LE definitely (SE is still the best in my opinion) I once bought an EX and it sucked so bad, the first time it gave sound I knew It would never sound close to an se or le
can someone tells me how to get a rock effect on tonelab le ,and also i need a carry bag or gig bag for my tonelab le , where can i get a very good and durable one , because the effect is a little bit heavy.
so this does this or dosnt have a real working valve ? if you check out the vox tonelab st video you will see the guy take it apart to find yes it does have a valve but its just for show and there is orange light behind it to make it look like its heated up then he removes the valve plugs it back in and it sounds just the same as it did with the valve in ....so im thinking is this just the same ........probably
Sailed by the 'tube distortion' amp sound without playing the sound?! Red Flag. This pedal has a tube in it. It is supposed to 'di' to board "model" a tube amp. NOTICE? Doesn't sound like tube preamp or a cabinet.
From almost every processor you can get right sound! The trick is that you need spend more than 5 minutes when creating a patch.I usualy spend more than half hour with only one patch creation. So you ca't expect that your processor will be perfect out from the box!Factory presets usualy are baaaaaad!
Easy ? If you are a ballerina or pro tap dancer may be 😂 But an average joe guitarist like me gets into a completely different bank half of the time i try to get into the stompbox mode ;)
Wah should never have been on the knb with the distortions. That was bullshit. It should have bneen default wah or volume pedal or linked as expression to a chosen FX. I know old hat. I havent used mine in years. I figure I might use it for something one day. A shame since its well built.
Sounds like a digital effects processor. These things are garbage and you can hear how cheap and thin they sound in this video. Nothing beats building your own board with quality pedals. It may be a little more expensive in the long run but it's well worth it.

Dude the LE and the SE are so rare nowadays
Good demo. So many adjustable parameters in this one!

...mh, not the pedal we hear somehow ... where does the right/left discrepancy come from?

@Philosophy Plans, did you ever get an answer to this question? The CAB button on my LE also does not work.

@Turquoise59 im not sure but i think its a telecaster
Hi! Can you tell me what to do if I want to use the expression pedal as a volume control? I have tried , but it is probably something I do wrong ...
Have you found an answer to your ask ?

Make a demo and di your sound. Show some evidence.
i have a tonelab le and im intressedet in buying a boss gt-10. is that a smart move?
@Joker5844 Thank you!
Does it have play along?
Depends on what pedals you're looking for.
Should I get this or the BOSS-ME70?

Are Vox affiliated with Korg? This unit seems very similar to the Korg AX3000 series.
Korg owns Vox now

how do you use the effects only? its aggravating me..
go for the vox!
Tonelab LE has more stuff to play with. I think the ex is a stripped own model. I have the LE and love it.

'There's a... little bit of...thing there...did you see that?' Lol
Nice ! Let me get the parameter table.

Oh ya, its not bad for direct recording [thats if you dont have a choice].

i think it's a simulation of 'rat' distortion!
kidding?...this, no brainers
