As a light automotive technician who worked on these pieces of junk for 2 years at the second biggest LDV dealership in Australia, I strongly advise all sane consumers to avoid these unreliable, rusting from day 1 heaps of crap at all costs.
If you can’t afford a new Japanese brand, buy a second hand Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max or maybe be a Mitsubishi Triton.
Avoid all other brands unless you have lots of cash.

Do any of them completely refund your monies when a known issues occurs, hmm, seems not, Toyota dragged through the courts to fix known issues on Prado/Hilux DPF and now in the states apparently over motor issues, at least all vehicles recalled and new motors being fitted, I'd rather a refund myself but that's just me as no vehicle every performs well after technicians have stripped it down and rebuilt it, there always an annoying rattle, stripped threads.
I'm not a LDV fan yet but the way they have looked after this chap us very persuasive.
Another RUclipsr who advocates Great Wall is getting exceptional service as well, they replaced his seat base as the squab had deteriorated after 100K.
Suspect his RUclips status helped, GWM rather appease than have his followers upset.
Any other manufacturers would claim wear & tear, but not GWM.
Chinese brands appear to know how to win over influences and hence sales come of it.

If I had to replace a 3 year old car for rust reasons , that would be the first and last time I would be buying from that manufacturer.

Hi there Mike. I’ve had an absolute nightmare with my LDV T60. it’s a 2022 model model. I’ve had everything from my alternator going six months ago with my car being off the road for 6 to 8 weeks due to not having any spare alternators in the country so luckily I was able to get a higher vehicle, three months to buy my vehicle my drivers seat started fraying and LDV told me it’s normal wear and tear which I fought and they eventually replaced the upholstery months later. It’s fraying again! I bought a manual and my clutch has been nothing but a nightmare with an independent mechanic telling me that there is definitely something wrong with it and the release point was way too low. I mentioned this to LDV who inspected it and said it was normal. The clutches becomes so bad now that I sometimes can’t even get it into reverse or other gears. You pay $45,000 for a new vehicle. You expect a lot more customer service has been pathetic at both dealerships that I’ve taken it to my door handles which are the chrome doorhandles are now flaking and my event control mechanism just fell out. On top of all of that looking under my vehicle, I’ve just noticed rust which brought me to your video. it’s been an emotional rollercoaster over the past two years and almost had me giving up. I appreciate your video and any advice for me would be helpful thank you Chris.

They sell those LDV’s in NZ, ( of course) I can’t drive the LDV 10 seat mini van, because the auto gear box is weird. I had to move one once, and was terrified it might loose control before I could get the hang of it. Another co-worker dented it returning it to shed where it is kept. I’ve never heard a diesel engine sound like that!
Have driven several types of Hiace vans over hundreds of thousands of km’s both petrol and diesel types. Had a puncture in one once, but that’s something that can happen. Thrash them and they just get up and keep going. Just service them correctly, and the’ll keep going…and going. For reliability they leave everything else in the dust!

Black plastic profiles are much easier and cheaper to manufacture, and they make 'styling' changes to ageing body styles easier and cheaper.

If I were to buy a low end economy ute- especially a chinese one- the last thing I'd want are bells and whistles like touchscreens and the car tooting at me because electronic gimmicks will be the first thing to fail, and in a plain workhorse mechanical heater/ac and radio controls are all thats needed. The front looks like a semi copy of a triton, not that it matters.
