I knew his parents and they were really nice people. I worked next door to their ice cream stand in the early 80s. One night I was stranded at work after closing time so I walked to the ice cream stand to use their phone. They welcomed me inside, sat me down, gave me the phone and free ice cream. I was 19 at the time. They both always talked to me like an old friend when I went there. Long after they closed the ice cream stand, his father died in a farming accident. His mother died a few years later. But I knew Big John Stud HAD to be a nice guy because his parents were so nice.

Big John Studd , I loved watching him and Andre what a messed up story line but it worked. Thanks for the wonderful tribute to a great wrestler , so sad they die young but its such an intense sport .RIP BJS⚘️
Jordan you truly do a wonderful job of telling a persons story. Great job on a vlog on Big John Studd 1 of my all time favorite wrestlers. Pathetic that Hogan and Andre kept others like Studd from greater success. I was a wrestling fan of late 60's to early 2000"s wrestling. I don't watch today's wrestling.

Jordan, I’ve watched many of your videos and I am impressed that you do your homework. I’m impressed that you’re a younger guy who loves the classic stuff whether it’s movies, music, pro wrestling, etc. Excellent job!
Jordan , the video was a very nice tribute to John Minton. I grew up a couple miles away from the family and my oldest brother was in high school with John. I know his brother and nephews. I met John once , he was a big man and had huge hands, sausage links. I always told that John was very tall and skinny in school, basketball player. I guess he drove a Volkswagen bug with a sun roof and he could stick his head of and drive it , lol. Enjoyed your video, keep up the good work!
Jordan good for you man you did your research . You are correct during the cartoon era of the WWF wrestling was really popular It wasnt uncommon for a wrestler to get a quarter million dollar check on a good quarter if he had a wrestling figure out or a wrestling buddy. I saw an interview with HillBilly Jim where he was talking about those early merchandising checks.. Fun fact Big John won the 2nd Royal Rumble ever but there was no push behind it like there is today, in fact he was out of the WWF within 6 months
Yeah, but the power of hogan in wwf didn't allow the change of title... its unfortunate that he didn't drop the title to studd. Could have been a fantastic storyline, especially with Hernan as his manager. Nobody could cut down hogan like Heenan could
I have a huge crush on Big John Studd. He was so handsome and cute! Just a lovely person by all accounts. I heard that his tummy would hurt after strenuous workouts, causing him to throw up. So sad. I have always wanted to give him the biggest hug. I love everything about Big John. My favorite wrestler and actor.
Great vlog! Big John Studd was a little before my time but I've seen several of his matches and he was a beast. I had hand me down action figures as a kid and he was one of the first ones I had.
John Studd was one of my all time favorite wrestlers. Whether he was a heel or a face, he never failed to deliver when I watched him. I never saw him live but I almost did back in June of 1989 at the Rockford Metro Centre in Rockford, IL. He was a face at that time and was scheduled to go against Andre, who was a heel. But it was as that time that Studd left and Hillbilly Jim took his place. That was such a great time. Thanks. John, for the memories. Rest in peace, big man. P.S.
