Rigid & Semi Rigid diaphragm Differences In ETABS

  • In this tutorial, we want to point out one of the differences between rigid and semi-rigid diaphragms in ETABS. When you assume that the diaphragm is semi-rigid, the software no longer reports the center of Rigidity in its reports. Therefore, the calculation of the center of Rigidity must be a rigid diaphragm. And to obtain the diaphragm forces, you must use a Save As file from main design file.

    Should have made comparisons of running time, load distribution to shear walls specifically, and diaphragm forces via horizontal section cut of the floor plan.
