There used to be loads of VCD players that played NES games off a CD for sale during the early years of eBay, but they often wanted silly amounts of money for them.
@@TheRetroFuture Probably their only use over here, VCD discs are pretty scarce over here, especially in the early '00s. I do have the Gamesmaster Gore special on VCD somewhere.
This what introduced me to nes titles when i was a kid growing up (2000s) we had a vcd player that has a cd with 300 bootleg nes titles in it.... I remember that vcd has controller ports on its back and the controller looks like colored white sega genesis 6-button controller, it was hilarious but at the same time nostalgic for me .. it was actually cheap in my country( Philippines) back in those days (around 40$ including the vcd player, the vcd with roms plus 2 controllers)
@@ryanpascual9598 thats probably bcoz of psychology back then, arcade were big back then and as a kid we always thought that more buttons = more moveset on video game = better games.

There is a DVD player that can officially play Game Boy Advance games. Is from 2005\6 but i don't remember the name of the company that have produced the device. P.S. Is a DVD\GBA player made for car enterteinment.
I came back here after I saw one of these things for sale in a major Italian chain store. Reminds me that an internet provider here in France had, at one point, a tv box that could read nes, gb, master system roms directly using the file browser.
They are vdisc/vcd games made in China. You can play those on any DVD player. Most gameboy clones have modernize dvd main chip and jungle chip to handle those roms

Why someone would use that as a gaming device? The good thing about it is the fact that plays videos from dvd , usb and sd card and it also has an av input so you can play your wii for example there
i really wanted to know what the copy button did :( but at least the dvd player is region free and can play movies from a usb stick or sd but something tells me it's not gonna play mkv's :) edit: after looking up what the copy function does, all it allows you to do is copy files from a disc to the sd or usb stick so for example copy an avi from a disc to usb stick and does not let you copy an actual audio or dvd disc.
I have a smaller one of these that actually does have a working battery, but it has no game port so there's no way to control the games despite it being able to play them. I use it as a test pattern generator for my TVs
Man i first played contra and mario and some looney toons video game on a bootleg psp ripoff from some weird country and my mom buyed red one and i played it on a multi story based house in a village with west grounds
