    Linux foundation could do so much good if they were not so corrupt. Only spending 2% of linux foundation money on linux kernal items is not acceptable. Spending on covid and dei issues is not acceptable.

    I don't know about GNOME, but the Linux Foundation long ago became a nonprofit front for corporations to control certain open source projects. The blue dyed hair people are just another cynical ploy/front and when their usefulness has ended, they'll be cast aside too! I agree with you that if you want to support open source, pick a project that needs assistance other than these two. As far as waste, those two foundations keep the kids of wealthy people wealthy.

    Instead of putting your money towards The Linux Foundation and GNOME, which don't even put that money back towards the kernel or improving the software, put your money towards KDE Plasma or literally any other OSS project.
    The Linux Sucks guy did a really good job at highlighting how much of a joke The Linux Foundation is. They spend more money on AI and farming stuff than actually towards getting more people to contribute work to the kernel.

    Unfortunately, the same criticisms apply to MS. The political ideas of the kooky Left-Coast elites of MS, Google, & their friends are precisely those you cite L&G for.
    Ironically, this was one of the reasons I dumped MS for Linux (aside from the fact that about 50% of what MS put out was junk, designed to just barely work, to boot). Former MS head Gates, who, owning literally dozens of private yachts and aircraft, tries to force the rest of us to eat bugs to fight Global Warming - OOOPPS - I mean "Climate Change" (they had to change the name to something unfalsifiable, when the gap between their incesssnt 'sky is falling" predictions and the eventual outcomes became too large to b.s. away any longer). While sporting prominent man-boobs and a "spare tire", Bill lectures the rest of us on our unhealthy eating habits, and campaigns to rid grocery stores of beef in favor of HIS soy-based, "meatless" meat substitutes, as pricey as they are unpalatable...

    • @KratostheThird
      @KratostheThird 2 месяца назад

      This is why I tell people to support their local dairy farms and grocery stores. Bill is trying to eliminate all of it while he’s forcing us to buy expensive substitutes that are unpalatable, like you said.
      America has gone insane, we all know this. But the West Coast has an even greater number of these people that Jody here has been speaking out on.
      From Vancouver BC down to San Diego, they’ve all sold out.

      You would think there would be no one left to believe in the climate change narrative, what with predicting every 5 or 10 years that the arctic ice was going to melt, the oceans would overflow and 1000 miles inland would become the new coast and all, but nope, still plenty of m1ndIess z0mbles to hold their water.

      At this point I'm not sure. Organizations are too easily taken over through bureaucratic dirty pool. Indie developers like me tend to be the best but because of no institutional support our projects run purely on personal interest. That's not how quality software projects work.

    I can do the 3ncrypting and d3crypting, but the most vulnarible seconds will be when typing in the P455 word, because I have seen how someones have turn Windows to re-echo all the character via network and back to the computer with the screen. So covering the letters is insufficient.

    After listening to "Linux Sucks" dude I feel a bit less naive. Computers are complicated things and the infrastructure cannot be built and maintained by one genius nerd in a basement. I guess the cycles of human civilization are not immune to the decline no matter how techy.

    • @anon_y_mousse
      @anon_y_mousse 2 месяца назад

      I disagree with that sentiment. For starters you have TempleOS that proves one guy can do it all. If Terry hadn't died, it'd be more complete, but as it stands now it's a fairly usable system. Then you had QDOS which was the basis for MS-DOS, and it was written by one guy. Maybe most today would not consider DOS to be a usable operating system, but you can accomplish everything you need to do on a day to day basis with that little if you use the right software.
      While not quite an example of a single developer, Menuet is an example of how much you can do with just what will fit on a floppy and that's highly inspirational. Then you have to consider things like doing a minimal Linux install, which you could watch Rob Landley's talk or the shorter and slightly better example from Nir Lichtman, and you can use Suckless software to have a WM and terminal emulator as long as you can get X working.
      It really doesn't take gigabytes of data to get a full-featured operating system up and running, even in this day and age.

    Good idea! There is a need for computers that have an OS of their own so to become 53cured from outsiders to H4K in. It should be able to connect to flash memory via USB and to a mouse. It should have own monitot so there w'd not be screencopies to the outsiders. Hmm, but I dont have such a m0 neeey. Just thinking aloud if there will be a group of people to 45515+ with that idea.
