It's emulating the PS2 exactly as it was designed to run these games. It does run better. But any programmed in fps dips will be replicated. Also frame pacing can't be overcome.
It's an even more unoptimized PS5 version of a terrible PS4 emulator of PS2 games. What would you expect from Sony, quality? Cause there hasn't been any since at least 2016
If you emulate a PS2, expect PS2 performance. Not to mention that the game was just built this way for the PS2. If you code the game to unlock the FPS, it does go above but rarely goes above 40.
Runs exactly as they programmed it. It runs better than running it on a actual PS2. But it's emulating the game as intended. No way to overcome frame pacing if it's a part of the original game. And no overcoming fps dips programmed into the game.
@kevinmacdonald4068 It doesn't. It's like 20 to 30fps on 360. On Series X it can run at 30fps. And they had to cap it to 30fps as it had a unlocked fps which when it locked to 60fps on Series X would break the game.

I feel like there should not be any points where an 18 year old game should be dipping below 30 fps on a PS5.
It is unacceptable bit this is still the 2016 ps4 version
If a ps5 version is coming then it woll most likely be 60

@@Pointman11111It'll probably just be a port of The Scholarship Edition at 4k 60fps. I'd still buy it.

Awwwww whoa! Hot take!!!
Meanwhile PCSX2 can run it at 60fps with HD textures
We appreciate the work you do 💚🎮
Ridiculous
Insane
Not bad for 2024 standards.
playstation's emulation is pretty bad, also rockstar should've rereleased this game for the PS5 with Scholarship Edition content

Which version of the game would you recommend for a first time player? The PS5 version or Xbox version?

The ps5 port is weird, it lags sooo much for no reason. It ran a million times better on ps3
That's appalling

the xbox port runs at consistent 30 though.....

Cool.
I'm playing it on 60fps with the hd texture pack on pcsx2.
@@arthurmorgann177 Good for you? I'm playing Timesplitters on PS5.
