for an experiment, having a microphone at the shooting point and impact point would let us hear what the person getting shot at could spot. (or not if it is that quiet!)
The projectile is subsonic, slower than sound. Takes more time to reach the target than sound coming back. That sound delay is caused more by the projectile having to travel to the target.
well it'd be well above being lethal in that case considering even .22 can do quite some damage to ballistics so this should be able to do far more damage
The video he mentioned, he is shooting gel. It shows subsonic going in about 15cm, vs supersonic 30cm. He was shooting from relatively close, urban combat distance. This is actually preferable, as the bullet will stay in the body, not fly through and hit someone else. Penetration is a function of the velocity, mass, and shape of the projectile. You can recalculate how it will penetrate using kinetic energy formula. If you know a particular bullet goes in, say, 30 cm at 400m/sec, it's easy to figure out how it will do at 300m/sec, because penetration depth will be directly proportional to kinetic energy difference.
I've used sub-sonic .308 on Coyotes out to 200 yards. 220 grain @1050 fps (load my own)... they work fine. Know your rifle... know your bullet... know your target. there are 30 Cal heads designed to expand at those speeds. Yes, bolt-gun suppressed is Quiet AF. Try it "wet".

Man, I played battlefield as a kid, I always knew it as the L96 and I knew it was British. I didn't even know it was the same gun as the AWP until I saw that Fallout gun rants video.
Tangentially related, when I was in fallujah we found a bunch of weird guns. One was really scary, it was an integrally silenced 9mm sub machine gun. Was about as loud as scratching your jeans with short fingernails.
De Lisle Carbine is supposed to have been as quiet as 85db when fired, with the bolt cycling being louder. Difficult to accurately test given how few were made.
I don’t care how many safeties it has you should never twist on a surpressor or any other barrel attachments with a round in the chamber deff a mistake that went overlooked but just in case people don’t know, doing any of the latter is very dangerous and could result in serious injury or death under proper circumstance
I'm usually very reserved when it comes to voicing opinions, especially on guns, but I think a R700 body with an Accuracy International chassis is complete sacrilege.
The scary thing to think about is that the exercise is moot when you think how, with a bullet travelling super-sonic, you'll never hear it at all if that's the shot that gets you.
A lot of factory subsonic ammo is not quality controlled like there supersonic ammo and no where close to hand loads. With the rite bullet and powder you can get very repeatable and very accurate rounds with more than enough KE to be viable in hunting and defense situations. There’s already a ton of subsonic specific hunting rounds and a ton of deer hogs etc are taken with them every year. A 240 grain bullet leaving the barrel just under supersonic and still traveling at 800+/- FPS at 300 yards is still approximately the knock down power of a standard 45 ACP at point blank range.
Funny enough thats one thing i enjoy about to modern day combat battlefield titles. Suppressors in those games do indeed make your shot a lot more quiet but you can still hear it and it has directional audio where you can identify where its coming from. Also got to give it to this guy shooting unbraced. Dont know his shooting background but normally only time ive seen people shot the casually they are generally comp shooters

I love that Remington 700 setup, but from the research I'm doing, most people are saying that a tikka is a better choice. Man do I love that chassis though.
Th task you are sharing and have mastered is something for which I am very grateful! I was not able to take partake during my years in the Army. Thank you from all future shooters who use your system and benefit with un-phased hearing. God bless you
7:00 for the gun and config
Imagine someone trying to rob his house LMAO
Wanna' bet those guns aren't in his house?
With so many weapons to choose from the thief would be long gone before he could even pick one of them to shoot from
@@vilet4287 I'm pretty sure anybody robbing this guy's house would have done months of planning, thus no rush.
@@wadestanton i meant that the owner would have a wide selection of weapons to choose from but i wrote it kinda weird, and your interpretation makes a bit more sense
At 9:18 you can see the sonic booms shockwave from the bullets travel.
Through my PC speakers, his voice is a lot louder than the unsuppressed weapons so this test is void for me haha.
I have watched a few of these " quietest gun" videos, im now convinced they are using rounds they pressed themself with hardly and charge at all in them.
The only thing will enemy hear while using suppressed weapon is their friends screaming sniper
8:54 you can see the ripple in the air... pretty cool

Csgo players: its a AWP

Man, I played battlefield as a kid, I always knew it as the L96 and I knew it was British. I didn't even know it was the same gun as the AWP until I saw that Fallout gun rants video.
Tangentially related, when I was in fallujah we found a bunch of weird guns. One was really scary, it was an integrally silenced 9mm sub machine gun. Was about as loud as scratching your jeans with short fingernails.
Pics?
Ah yes, subsonic .308- My 999 Ping ass has been training for this day in particular
Guys, at @9:18 you can see the round ripple through the air, it's nuts. Look at the target cam, lower left corner.
That's about as quiet as the snipers in cod lol
10:35 you can actually se e the bullet travel path pretty awsome
"You've turned your semi-auto into a Beto O Rourke approved rifle." LMAO
De Lisle Carbine is supposed to have been as quiet as 85db when fired, with the bolt cycling being louder. Difficult to accurately test given how few were made.
just love how quiet it is
I don’t care how many safeties it has you should never twist on a surpressor or any other barrel attachments with a round in the chamber deff a mistake that went overlooked but just in case people don’t know, doing any of the latter is very dangerous and could result in serious injury or death under proper circumstance
I'm usually very reserved when it comes to voicing opinions, especially on guns, but I think a R700 body with an Accuracy International chassis is complete sacrilege.
Absolutely. Why would anyone want to vandalize an Accuracy International like that!?
@@heycidskyja4668 I’m more about that classic slick black R700 chassis, nothing beats it. But yeah, it goes either way.
i like how you get all your items from your pocket. even a single bullet. I won't be shocked if you pull out another rifle from there.
The scary thing to think about is that the exercise is moot when you think how, with a bullet travelling super-sonic, you'll never hear it at all if that's the shot that gets you.
9:17 you can see that sonic boom in the air there
Love how it takes 11 minutes to show how silent that rifle is
He talks to much like an american gun owner.
@@thedistance1155 he does
A lot of factory subsonic ammo is not quality controlled like there supersonic ammo and no where close to hand loads.
Sad that i want to study firearms and those SDI courses are arround 20k :(
take a millwright course and at least you will be closer to a gunsmith than that course will get you.and a lot cheaper
Finally, the gun for libraries
Sounds like my .177 air rifle. Maybe it’s just the camera’s mic.
Haha, if that .177 doesn't break the sound barrier they're probably just as quiet.
That was my very thought. As a matter of fact, my current .177 is much louder that your suppressed rifle.
@@TexasPlinking ya my .177 is subsonic but it’s a break barrel so there is a sound of the piston inside. It can get supersonic with the right ammo but it makes the pellet really unstable severely hindering the accuracy.
@@MarceIious Yeah, subsonic isn't really good for much, accept being quiet in close range.

U know what's cool about SCARs? ...
Nothing

My airsoft gas SCAR H is cool because it was affordable
They are very cool, just way overpriced. For the same price you can have a VERY decked out AR10
There is........ a feature.........not cool tho...... unexceptionally heavy.
there is no sound barrier... its a shockwave continously traveling along the object, if you would run along the bullet you could ere it the whole time...
Awesome video! Would it be possible to do a test with normal vs subsonic bullets on ballistics gel so a shooter could get an idea of how much velocity is lost? ..just curious. Great content! Keep it up!
Finally! Now I can put a shooting range in my library!
