This is a fantastic and informative video! I had read a book about Harold Gillies prior, but found this video absolutely stunning and very helpful for my research. All I say is that I slightly disagree with how the soldiers images are shown in this video with almost horror esq sounds and transitions between each man. Every one of those soldiers are real people, and many had even committed suicide after seeing themselves. We must remember that even if the wound may be hard to look at, these soldiers would have felt even worse just by looking at themselves in a mirror and having others see them as deformed. I do not mean to be rude or impolite, I just wanted to say that we should try not to show these men in a (in a way) “bad light”.
Overall this video is stunning and I absolutely loved how it included the visuals from the pigs.

Fantastic program. Unbelievable that such an absolutely gorgeous building is just sitting there rotting. Can't it be used for a museum or something?

Archie MacIndoe and his also NZ-born mentor Harold Gillies are not well known in their native country - sad, really, like most famous Kiwis they boxed above their weight and contributed to the professions they chose and changed immeasurable lives. Kia Kaha!

I had the honor of meeting some of Sir Archibald McIndoe's patients. They were members of the famous Guinea Pig Club. Not surprisingly, they were the nicest bunch of guys you could hope to meet.

Humans have struggled with identity since the beginning of time. It’s a shame we are only just now recognizing that.
