Hey, may I ask? 1) Are you familiar with Hongdian Black Forest? 2) I have such a writing style that my characters require thick upstrokes and thin downstrokes. I want to write with a fountain pen. Are there are special flex nibs for this or maybe there is a spexial method of using usual flex nibs but with a different orientation, angle etc...?
Very smooth paper is best so far as I've heard. Rhodia or any Japanese paper that's indicated as being smooth would probably work well with dip pens. Smooth paper is best mainly because you won't have paper fibers getting caught in the nib and to reduce feathering and rough and ragged lines.
TJ - Miiverse I really adore Tomoe River Paper. It makes inks really pop and shiny inks extra shiny. It's super smooth, dense, durable, and thin (kind of like bible paper).
We agree with James Barton's recommendations-- smooth paper works best for pointed pen calligraphy! Try Rhodia or Maruman Mnemosyne. Our top 3 selling nibs are the Speedball 101, the Brause Steno Blue Pumpkin, and Brause Extra Fine Arrow. Clairefontaine, Rhodia (which sources their paper from Clairefontaine). Tomoe River, etc. I suggest searching up the channel GouletPens because they are a small business and channel dedicated entirely to fountain pens.
I use Rhodia notebooks. Michael's Art Supply sells a nice spiral bound 8" book. It lays flat which is awesome for practicing and the paper is bleed and feathering free and bright white. Even my wide nibs that dump a ton of ink do not bleed or feather. The paper is so smooth that the ink does take a minute to dry though so you have to mindful of smearing but I write so slowly anyhow. Rhodia for practicing is my #1 go to.

Sorry i just start writing recently and i dont know much about nibs so i hope you dont mind telling me - Do you change the nibs often? I use the nikko g nib and i have to change the nib after a few days becaue it feels like it became less flexible. Wonder if it's normal to do so.. thank you
Hi there! Generally you shouldn't need to change your nibs that often. G nibs are straighter and stiffer than other nibs so that may be why it feels less flexible. If you feel that you're having trouble with your nib, we recommend checking out our nib troubleshooting guide: www.jetpens.com/blog/guide-to-fountain-pen-nibs-troubleshooting-tips-and-tricks/pt/777
A comparison to me is telling you about all the nibs not just the positives but the negatives as well. They should also talk about cost. That is why to me this is just an advertisement. They do make good videos though.
I thought 'Calligraphy Nib' was a broad nib, and the ones you showed here were called 'Flex Nibs'. Calling clickbait, and unhelpful to what I'm looking for.
Do you mean Italic or Stub nibs? Technically, Flex Nibs are considered Calligraphy Nibs, but we're sorry we weren't more clear! We will edit the description and title to show Flex Nibs in addition to Calligraphy Nibs. Thank you for the feedback!
You pronounced the word "Brause" so good, that I thought you were from Germany. :)
Our voice actress actually speaks German fluently! :)
JetPens That is great.
JetPens That is great.
Kedahan: that cute
Very helpful!!!! This prevents SO much trial and error!!! Thank you!!!

The Brause 66 I found to hold more ink than any of the others! It went on forever!
Its been a year, and I bet they're still writing with the same drag.
Still going strong 😂
I like the Blue Pumpkin.
which kind of paper is best with calligraphy? and which nib is your top rated/ best selling?

The Nikko G and the Rose I find are very different and so compliment each other.
jetpens thanks for always heaving the best manga art supplies
Hi, I'm wondering if you guys have a playlist of mechanical pencils. And possibly a video of colored lead and variations. Thankyou
i dont think they have any videos on them, but i would definitely check out their blog bc they have a lot of great blog posts
spottedstar1123 thanks, i'll take a look on it ^^
JetPens hi, i tried a few times clicking on the playlist, but it keeps saying error.
Also thanks for the link of the colored lead.

Earlier, i thought that one thing was using a middle finger.....
I think you’re confusing that one with the newest addition to their line-up, the Brause Dip Pen Nib - 69 FU Middle Finger
Sorry, but the music is way too loud.
Can you put it on a fountain pen
Thank you Jet Pens. Lovely video ! :)
Lovely comparison!! Thank you for the video!!! #CalligraphyMasters #KeepWriting
That's great 😍 thanks for sharing 😊
My index just scratches the paper :(( I prepped it and it doesn’t draw like yours

@JetPens oh i see! thank you so much for your kind response! The article really helps 😊❤
Brause 29 index or middle finger😂
No offense.....
Idk how you use dip pens but its weird the nib is on the side
In this video, we're using an oblique nib holder! It helps right-handed calligraphers maintain the proper slant in their letters.
Will the Brause Rose work well with fountain pen shading inks?
Yes
Which nib holder is compatible with the leonardt principal?
We have a chart for that here: www.jetpens.com/blog/the-best-nib-and-nib-holder-combinations/pt/763
Can't beat that finger one:-)
hi, what nibs would you recommend to a beginner? thanks!
tooru I'm also a rookie in calligraphy and I find the Brause Steno very comfortable to use.
If you can afford it, a Lamy Joy. A Pilot Parallel or Plumix are more affordable options. These are fountain pens, so there's no dipping.
+QuickQuips plus, those are italic nibs, not pointed pen nibs
I've always heard the nikko g recommended for beginners
Here's the link to the Zebra G: www.jetpens.com/Zebra-Comic-Pen-Nib-G-Model-Chrome-Pack-of-10/pd/4195
this makes me want to get one of these pens >_
LibraStudies I too cheap though. But even so, I'm broke
These stuff are cheap :) all of your cash will go into paper and ink
ooo i love this song
I just went to the Japanese store and bought a pack of 10 G-pen nibs for 15 bucks. Some of the fancy ones were 3 for 9 bucks.
No leftie pen :(
Nathan Eric Dolloso Use a straight pen they’re the ones that look like a fountain pen
I love my pumpkin pen nib...I am left handed.
Very nice video .
I wanted to buy the finger one but it does't work as well as I would have liked
Please.. Can anyone send me this nip or pens... I cant find its anywhere in my country.. I will send my adress
Huh. Where's studyquill here in the comment section?
Damn she pronounced brause right
The clapping sound in the background music is extremely annoying.
Now that its pointed out...
Nina
Niba
not a comparison more like an advertisement so you can buy them
Edit: no offence intended so don't get sassy
What is "comparison" to you, then?
A comparison to me is telling you about all the nibs not just the positives but the negatives as well. They should also talk about cost. That is why to me this is just an advertisement. They do make good videos though.
@@name.surname.9707 the cost would make it an advertisement
Pagal
that's rude lmao
