Thank you for the story. Reminds me of my younger day's.I sailed till I was 74 years old.I would like to get another boat but I am 81 now...Take care. Bill
Age is No excuse the new electric winches are so easy to operate you have an autopilot so on get a new girl go sail.
Amazing story, buying a small boat in exchange for a beer, involved in a motorcycle accident and recouping from it to sail across an ocean. You are living the LIFE!
I'll drink to that!
How on earth can 62 people not like this story ?
Weirdos,,,,, brilliant story,,,, your a true inspiration man ,,,,, god bless you and Neptune bless An ale ,,,,,, it's your fault you know,,, I am now looking for my first boat at the age of 52 ,,,,,,
Cool, you find one?
I had a motorcycle wreck, but I never managed to get a boat, so I watch your videos and dream.
Amazing story. I should prepare a pack of beer every time.
My boat is also made by Mallard. For 25 years I have my 1977 Farr 727 and I love it, and is now working on several upgrades, and your videos are a big help. thanks
Very cool!
Who gives thumbs down? People are haters. Good luck Frenchman!
your mind is so smale ! maybe are people in countries where they can not see the video..... maybe the same who gives you a thumb up :D lol
Wtf would they be doing here if they can't see the video? Pretty sure it's your mind that's "smale"....gawd
True 😂😂 how to not to like this video! C'est impossible il est trop cool
Can you do me a favor friend whenever your out in the ocean in the the can you try to capture the stars where theres no light pollution or any clouds or anything just the stars? Itd mean a lot of you could safe journeys friend
it is so hard from the boat since it is always moving.
zach stabler its hard because not every camera can take the stars in photo, always capture black sky
Damn that sucks I guess I should have figured atleast that much guess I'll just have to go buy a boat lolz
Go on a cruise.
I loved taking cruises in Puerto Rico so much I did it 5 times. The island is amazing and way better port than miami.
out on the ocean you will never be able to take a long exposure because the boat is always moving, but the imagination of such a picture is fabulous I get you in that point!
Keep on going, great story...I just had 5 heart bypasses n will be sailing when I get my money by spring. Can’t wait when it’s in your blood
Me too 5 bypasses in 2017 so decided time to buy a boat to start to go blue water again . I did sail ireland canary islands in 1988 but ran out of cash trying to keep a 33 foot prout ranger cat going so had to give up and sell up .Now hopefully rental income from small apartment will keep me going next time in 2020 when the 50 year old 27 foot mono hull craft is fully repaired
Bro that foot was nasty! Glad you had a full recovery. Thanks for this video. I just bought my first boat, this is getting me very excited to get out there!
Long way since the time you got the boat
You did a good job - and it worked.
Thanks for telping us your history .its good to know it's all about pushing thought videos are real not staged. Will look again
Wow! What a great story. You're an inspiration sir, you really are. I'm a little lost for words but what i would say is, "look out world...this Frenchman is about to inspire all!". Keep doing what you're doing. Fantastic!!
Thank you for this most fascinating "backstory".
👏🙌🏻🤩🙌🏻👏 so happy to hear your story
Congrats.
It's great to have your backstory.
I'm glad you bought the Boat. Besides being your home it really brings a balance to ones life.
I'm glad you survived the crash and can still walk today.
Thank you so much for these videos. My body is too old and beat up to sail anymore. These videos are a godsend for getting through Covid-19 too.
Fair Winds and Following Seas ⛵
I hope this man makes all his dress possible and I 🙏 he and his boat remain dry and safe!!! Cheers my brother from France God bless you and your family
Écume de mer is very good ship. I did my first channel crossing (Solent- Cherbourg) on one of them, good memory of a sound and well built ship.
I have been following your channel for a while now. Watching this video today, during the final period of my masters with not much more than sailing in my mind really made smile. I can relate so much to you saying "i went to the interview with nothing but this boat on my mind" :D That's what happens when you get hooked.
What an incredible incredible person
Thanks for sharing your story! That's truly inspirational!

A very unusual name - Frenschman ... you can get used to it. I watched many of your videos .... Boy, you are worthy of respect and recognition !!! There are few such real people in nature!
A really GREAT story, merci beaucoup/thank you!
Another regular guy with a great sailing dream and did whatever it took, making many sacrifices, BRAVO!
Best regards, Building SY Mistress
wow, you are a persistent guy! congratulations to your fulfilled dream!
Crazy cool story, an inspiring adventure
Man, watching these gives me confidence. Thank you sailingfrenchman
Your removal of the keel was the only one I have seen of any of the boat refits. I would trust your boat far more than I would some others around whose keels are bolted on.
Incredible and very inspirational.
Je suis jaloux, je suis jaloux ! Hahahahaha ... Bon Vent ! Pierre.
It is very interesting to hear how you got to where you are now.
What an incredible story. Thanks for sharing. I bet you have an awesome time with this boat.
I did, and lot's of water went under the keel
Loved your story

Histoire chouette!
Yeah, nice to meet you too.
Terrific story. Obviously it can make a real difference when you have a relationship with your boat, you really know it.

international man of mystery nice
Bien sympa ton histoire!
I wish I had had your perspective on life when I was in university. I was too bound by expectations and conformity. I lived 100 m from a marina and never once did I realize the adventure that was waiting there just over my door step. I would have exchanged my apartment for a live aboard today if I could do it over. But sailing life was not even on my radar back then. Now I’m stuck with wife, kids, house, two cars and mortgage 😂 No just kidding, I’m very happy and I’m taking sailing lessons now and maybe getting a boat later, but probably not for the price of a beer 😉
What a wonderfull story...I loved it...
Amazing stuff! Inspiring and very motivational. Thank you for sharing.
Bon vent !
Great video and what a journey so far!!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
This is an inspirational story mate. Perhaps little money in the pocket and not materialistically rich, you’re still an incredibly rich guy in my view 😉. Many thanks for sharing your adventures ⛵️👍.
1 Euro well spent - nice to hear your backstory...keep up the fantastic vids...don't bother with expensive equipment...it all looks fine....the lighting in this episode was particularly interesting...haha....
Like this a lot!!
Cool!.....
What a story my friend 🇬🇧

Great story. Nothing but love for you and your journey. Subscribed.
Thanks for giving us the history leading up to your sailing adventures. Kudos!
Super, un vrai compte de fées
@thesailingfrenchman If you don't mind me asking, what sort of work were you doing for the UN?
Thank you.
cool blog. thanks for sharing some of the adventure stories. Seems to me you always knew what you wanted was being with the boat, sailing seas, and who knows what soul search brings you to it, but the ocean is calling and you keep answering. I'm not at sea but I can hear that oceans quiet whisper myself.
Yesterday my buddy and I watched "Between Homes", and being long time followers of your channel we were amazed by that guy and his badass approach. We thought his crossing made the Frenchman's look so insignificant :P
Today you upload this episode, and we are mind blown again, you're back in the game :D What a determination!
Thanks for this episode, it's super motivating and entertaining.
Great summary and your English is superb. I've followed many of your adventures from afar. Good job!
You speak really good english. Accidents sucks..i've had lots of them. Losing ability to be mobile is very tough. Good videos.
Good story, good job!
