+P for Pneumonia It doesn't matter that it is an old video, I love reading comments! Thank you very much for your suggestion, you're absolutely right, I probably got a little bit carried away.. Thank you for your kind words about the video and for watching! Best wishes!
New comment on an old video, but I figure it's worth mentioning that in the examples of prefixes part (of this otherwise excellent video), I would argue that "ignorant" is not the best example of ig- ... simply because there is no such thing as a 'norant'. Perhaps the better choice would be "ignoble" (even though it's a less common word, the prefix itself is pretty rare). That said, lots of top tips that I'm sure have helped many students :)
Hello Dori,it's really nice to do your classes, I've searched for lotta IELTS videos but yours is the most helpful. I've a confusion in scanning answer, can you please gimme some of your valuable moments to explain that?
+Zareen Tasneem Hey there! Thank you for your kind words! I am really glad the videos help you. This video will clear your doubts on scanning thoroughly: ruclips.net/video/2no6V9hWDiI/видео.html. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your exam!
Hello Dori , I'm really find your videos helpful in preparing for IELTS , I have watched your playlist on Listening section Now I'm watching your playlist on Academic reading In this video you giving us tips on predicting the meaning of word unknown to us through the context of the passage, but the problem to me is when I don't know a meaning a word in "True or False" or " Yes or No " questions because the meaning of this word will be clue for the answer and if it for example means a positive the answer is true or means a negative the is false I always fell in confusion if I don't know the exact meaning because there is no context to help me predict the word meaning and upon my understanding I will answer the question . so do you have any workaround to this problem of unknown word in a "True or False" question ?
+Mohamed Mahdy Hey there! Well, unfortunately if there is only one word that you need to base your answer on and no clues whatsoever it is really difficult to tell you something that will work for sure. These tips are mainly for words in the reading text. However, sometimes the words they use in the questions are words taken from the text or paraphrased versions so this may be able to help you especially when the task questions follow the order of the text. In this way, you will be able to make something out by combining ideas. Other than that, if you're given only one word and you don't know it there is no magic way to guess its meaning.. Don't think negatively though! It doesn't mean that this will happen! Thanks for watching! Good luck with your exam!
You can find lots of tips about all reading tasks and step by step guidance for free on my website www.dori-ielts.com. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your exam!
Hi Dori, hope you are doing well. kindly support as I`m using Cambridge practice test book and I don`t know how to distinguish between academic and general training Reading modules??
I don't know which books you have I think these are for the academic module. However, keep in mind that only books 9-10 are similar in difficulty with the actual test. All the rest are easier to get you used to the test. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your exam!
In my humble opinion, a punctuation mistake cannot make an entire video seem suspect. I totally agree with you that difference lies in the details that's for sure but we are human and this could even be a mistake due to keyboard settings as weird as this sounds (it has happened to me before in a different situation). I'm not saying that this is the case here because this is an old video and I don't even remember this part but I just ask to be given the benefit of the doubt. Besides, in the video I just share techniques to help students understand the meaning of a word without actually knowing the word; these techniques are known to all teachers. These are not techniques that are going to harm students quite the opposite actually--they may not work for all students, but the intention is to give them ideas and help them with unknown vocabulary not to harm them. I'm really sorry you didn't find the video helpful despite the punctuation in this part but thank you for watching! Best of luck!
Standard phrases will help you very much with your writing. Here are some useful phrases you can use: 1.) When there is a fall or decline --> downward trend (eg. There is a downward trend if we compare.... etc) 2.) When there is an increase --> upward trend 3.) When there is an abrupt decline --> a sharp drop in value 4.) When there is a sudden increase --> a sharp increase in value 5.) When the diagram is not stable (the changes are sharp and not gradual) --> unstable performance 6.) When there are no big changes --> steady/ stable performance It will also help you very much to remember phrases that you can use when you compare and contrast: 1.) On the one hand-on the other hand 2.) Although, 3.) Whereas/while 4.) However/ Yet/ On the contrary/ By contrast 5.) By comparison/ In addition/ Additionally/ Furthermore,/ Moreover If you want to describe the chart or diagram: 1.) It is noted that... (always prefer passive voice) 2.) It can be seen that 3.) It is clear that.. 4.) The chart/diagram shows/illustrates/represents... If things are more or less the same: 1.) Similarly/Likewise Useful verbs: 1.) rise-fall 2.) increase-decrease 3.) grow-shrink 4.) go up- go down etc. More useful phrases: 1.) the majority - the minority 2.) almost all/ nearly all 3.) a high percentage - a low percentage. I think that you will find them useful. I will make a video on that but it will take some time (I am still in Reading) and you will have taken the exam by then most probably. Generally, prefer passive voice; be careful of commas and punctuation; do not use complicated syntax unless you are 100% sure; read the instructions and underline what you need to answer so as not to forget it; use a variety of vocabulary; correct spelling is important; be specific; ok, I ' ll stop here I could go on forever.. Good luck with the exam!

You're welcome, I am glad you found it helpful. Spelling will be the last section so it might take some time since I am still in the Reading section (and I also upload some requests here and there), but I will definitely upload videos on Speaking, some time in the near future--I just don't know when exactly. Dori madam ur lesson are helpful thanks for that but I face interruption while reading due unknown words in editorial in news paper and I sometime make wrong guess about words picking dictionary again and again is irritating
Ravi Mahla Well, you can try these techniques but the best thing you can do for that is to dedicate some time each day to improve your vocabulary and learn new words in context with examples. Unfortunately, there are no magic pills to learn or guess words; you have to make an effort for that. Good luck!

Since when do we use > in quotes instead of quotation marks? Details like this make the entire video seem suspect.

If you want to describe the chart or diagram:
1.) It is noted that... (always prefer passive voice)
2.) It can be seen that

If things are more or less the same:
1.) Similarly/Likewise
Useful verbs:

More useful phrases:
