Hi Anna, I've been discovering and following Cakra Khan for about 3-4 months now and can't get enough of his voice (and personality!...). Usually I'm more in for outstanding female voices such as Angelina Jordan's, Diana Ankudinova's, Beth Hart's, Kaz Hawkin's, Haley Reinhart's, Sohyang's, Morissette's or Lara Fabian's to name some of the most attractive to me. Usually I listen to male singers only when they're part of a band I love, or playing an instrument as well, examples would be Queen, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Healey, Prince or Stevie Ray Vaughan...(or a capella / vocal ensembles as Pentatonix, Home Free or Forestella...) And I do listen to exceptional singers like Dimash, Gabriel Henrique or Lloyiso out of musical interest and fascination, but usually not more than one or two times for each song. Cakra Khan is one of very few exceptions to these "rules", one of the very few male singers who get to my heart and soul with their delivery, I wouldn't mind listening to Cakra Khan the whole day and actually have listened to his "Tennessee Whiskey" surely more than 30 times now, either the original performance or reactions on it... and he got a lot of other great covers, suggestions have been given to you plenty in the other comments, so I'll just add that to me it seems his voice has always been like this, also in his older recordings, and it doesn't seem to deteriorate for me, but I'm no expert at all and have no idea what he will sound like in 40 years... anyway I don't care because most likely I'll not be among the living anymore by then (most probably), or at least will have other problems than the quality of CK's voice... so I do hope he 'll keep singing like this as long as I can enjoy it, and enjoy I do... (only other male singers with a similar impact on me are Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Jimmy Barnes) ... thanks for a beautiful reaction, good night!
P.S.: I did know Chris Stapleton's original before and listened to it a couple of times with some reactors and the original video, also a few other of his songs, and he clearly is a great singer, but he doesn't get to me as much as CK does... If I wanted to introduce s.o. to the song "Tennessee Whiskey" I'd surely choose Cakra Khan's recording...

Cakra did a cover of James Brown's "A Man's World" that I think you will enjoy. I believe you will be even more impressed with his cover of Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way". In my opinion, it is his best performance even though it doesn't get as many views as other ones because it is an old song. The is a hidden gem that only a vocal coach like you can appreciate. Sorry I couldn't be there for the premier. Chkra has a great voice and I get the feeling the rasp is natural. Not the type of music I'm drawn to but good.
He actually sounded like that (raspy) since he was young and start singing since he was a boy till now. If it's a nodule sign from a bad singing techniques, I'm sure he can't even sustain any high long notes without cracking nowadays (as the nodule should develop and worsen time by time if it's present). 😊, But i got your points tho, even Mariah Carey, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, Céline Dion, Elton John, John Mayer, Keith Urban etc etc (u name it) develop nodules and need an invasive surgical procedure to remove it because of "over sing" or insisted to use "bad singing techniques" (don't get me wrong, sometimes to produce different voice textures to project our feeling in a performance, we unconsciously did a bad singing techniques too, later on can be a habit). But Cakra's voice (raspy) is not an stylistic ornament, but he born with it. ❤️

Sorry I couldn't be there for the premier. Chkra has a great voice and I get the feeling the rasp is natural. Not the type of music I'm drawn to but good.
He actually sounded like that (raspy) since he was young and start singing since he was a boy till now. If it's a nodule sign from a bad singing techniques, I'm sure he can't even sustain any high long notes without cracking nowadays (as the nodule should develop and worsen time by time if it's present). 😊, But i got your points tho, even Mariah Carey, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, Céline Dion, Elton John, John Mayer, Keith Urban etc etc (u name it) develop nodules and need an invasive surgical procedure to remove it because of "over sing" or insisted to use "bad singing techniques" (don't get me wrong, sometimes to produce different voice textures to project our feeling in a performance, we unconsciously did a bad singing techniques too, later on can be a habit). But Cakra's voice (raspy) is not an stylistic ornament, but he born with it. ❤️
He even meets a physician to check whether his way of singing damages his vocal chord. Turns out it is still healthy. No damage!
