  • Here we have Graham Blackledge with reasons why you need to buy a Yamaha PSSA50 37 Key Mini Keyboard.
Reasons To Buy A Yamaha PSSA50 Keyboard (YAMAHA PSS-A50)...
    1. 37 Mini Keys - They are also touch sensitive too which is amazing for the price! They give you 32 notes of polyphony (the amount of notes you can play at the same time).
    2. 42 Sounds - Great quality Yamaha sounds covering all the main ones and more.
    3. Batteries Or USB Powered - I connected it to my Laptop and off I went; it was very easy.
    4. Comes With USB Cable & Manual - Easy to connect up and use.
    5. Arpeggiator & Motion Effects Buttons - These are great, you have 138 types of arpeggios to choose from as well as filter pitch & modulation button. Some of these can be used to great drum beats too and you can put the arpeggio on 'hold' and then pick another sound to play over the top - Great!
    6. Record Yourself Playing - It has a simple recording facility built in, but you can also transmit via the USB cable MIDI information to record externally too.
    7. MIDI CONTROLLER - You can use this keyboard as a MIDI controller, which is great if you want a lightweight, touch sensitive 37 note mini key keyboard for creating music on your computer.
    8. Speaker Built in & Headphone/Output socket - The built in 8cm speaker (1.4 watts) is ample volume for at home. Using the headphone socket you can play to yourself, or use it as an output to go through a bigger amp and speaker system.
This 37 note touch sensitive fun controller keyboard is excellent value for money. You can play it as a mini key keyboard, connect it as a controller, record yourself playing, use the arpeggio feature to make great effects and much more. This is a lot of fun and can also be used as a serious MIDI controller too. It covers a lot of bases!. I like it and think you should get one!

Quality video! Most enjoyable review I’ve seen of the A50 so far. The functions and terms can be daunting for an absolute beginner, but you have presented them in such a way that I feel more confident in giving this keyboard a go. Definitely going to buy one. Also you smashed those classic tunes. thank you

This is such a lovely demo. Thank you. The only thing I wish this keyboard did was to automatically change the key of the arpeggio playing if I press the arp hold button and choose another instrument to play melody with. Basically, I go and select a guitar tone and pick a guitar arpeggio pattern. Then, I play a note and hit the arp hold button. Then, I switch over to piano and play a main melody with it. But, it does seem as if the guitar arp will stay in the same key no matter what notes I play until I go back and press the guitar button, hit another note, (re-)start the arpeggio and hit the arp hold button again.

Thanks for the review ! You''ll be surprised when you'll learn that this keyboard has stereo capabilities ! Have a look on my youtube video "PSS A50 stereo mod explained". I mod the PSS-A50 in order to recreate the RIGHT channel path since only the LEFT channel of the soundengine chip is connected to the left+right jack headphones. Most probably applicable for both PSS-A50, PSS-E30 and PSS-F30 since the hardware is the same.

Kind of do wonder between this one or the cheaper same sized yamaha.
I’d love s keyboard to just get started out on, try some musical experimenting. I lack space for something big but these small ones might just work for my small house. If per chance I ever do have more room I can always upgrade to something bigger to play with, but at least with the small one I can work on my feel for sounds I do believe… feel free to confirm or tell me I am wrong because my knowledge on instruments is low. I have a kalimba I love to play with also since it is a small instrument. I know the key layout is different on a keyboard/piano (I am somewhat familiar with them it is just years since I have had my hands on a toy keyboard or a fullsized piano… and I do like that this is a bit more than just a toy).
