Lyrics:
Look in my eyes
See the lust and the love
Look in my eyes
When I'm talking to you
I'll take my life
Into my own hands
I'm the one that I will blame
I'm the one that understands
What are we gonna do?
While we've still got the strength to move
What are we gonna do?
I'm asking, I'm asking you
A call to arms, a call to use arms
A call to brains, a call to use some brains
A call to the heart, a call to have a heart
To have a sense of purpose again
Are we where we want to be
All wrapped up in our safety?
Comfort and complacency
It hurts me, it hurts me
What are we going to do?
While we've still got the strength to move
What are we going to do?
I'm asking, I'm asking you Видеоклипы
the best hidden treasure of all time
THIS WHOLE ALBUM GOT ME THROUGH THE DARKEST TIME OF MY LIFE..........LOVE AND RESPECT FOREVER!!!!!!!
i know same over here
i understand
Same here.. 😏
Same
when you know, you know
Powerful, raw, emotional and vaguely threatening. Adrian's emphasis on personal agency here is very unique in my opinion. He can't make the decision for you, but he can encourage you to take whatever measures available and improve your lot in life.
"What are we gonna do? I'm asking, I'm asking you."
We've all been there, and it's up to us to pull ourselves out. Channel that frustration and do something about it!
one of the most powerful and inspiring songs ever honestly.
The structure of the beginning alone is enough to consider this band the greatest in Post-Punk. How the bass, then the drums, then the guitar and then Adrian's voice starts is inimitable. Perfect balance between atmosphere and rawness.
I just discovered this band, how did this slip by me???? Totally underrated, I agree!
Das selbe hier, same to me
Feeling the same way right now
Where can you buy this? iTunes doesn’t have it...
Never too late 🤗
Adrian Borland was a genius !
an all time classic track. gets better with every listen. dark , urgent - and yet still packs a great pop hook. Is there a more criminally underrated 80s band?
Some clame the chameleons as the most underrated 80s band but I believe this is far superior.
@@lxldny Agreed. I quite like The Chameleons too, but The Sound is probably one of the most monumental bands ever to sadly go mostly unnoticed. They're damn near untouchable!
@@massivegat5087 I agree, damn near untouchable. I can appreciate the Chameleons but next to the Sound they 'sound' dated. There's a sense of urgency with Adrian and his lyrics.
Also, he refused to promote the band through commercial music videos when everyone else was doing it. The band didn't go for happier sounding pop tunes either which was a must in the 80s top 40 radio. I suppose they were too genuine and there's a price to pay for being so. But admire them for being true to themselves.
@@lxldny Same here. Adrian was extremely devoted to his music and under no circumstances would he and the band ever 'sell-out'. I hear All Fall Down was born from that desire to not conform to industry norms and the demands of their record label, creating an inherently anti-commercial LP. I don't think it's as bad as critics say either, I don't find the record to be hard to get into, it's just not a pop record; none of their stuff is. It's clear that songs like Party of the Mind would never receive radio play and that's okay. They kept true to themselves.
On some days I actually enjoy Second Layer more than The Sound, Adrian and Graham's side project is bloody brilliant. So cold and almost wicked in a way, it's quite something! Just another example of them doing as they please and not compromising themselves and their vision at the behest of an overbearing label or the chances of commercial success. We lucky few who know of The Sound and Adrian's larger body of work are blessed. He is sorely missed.
@@massivegat5087 Not much i could add to your great reply. Party of the Mind is one of my favorites as well as Where the Love Is. That album is easy to get into if you have good taste in music.
However, I'm embarrassed to admit I had no idea of their side project. Thanks for mentioning that. I'm looking forward to listen to it.
Peace.
One of the best post-punk albums of all time. Borland always sang with conviction on every song.
Jim Ballard
Im on board with this statement...

Honestly to this day it's the single best record I've ever heard. I don't think that will ever change
I chat to Mike Dudley and Graham Bailey of The Sound occasionally.

Same for me since 1982. I am so happy to still have the vinyl album , although I have no record player anymore. I keep the album just as a perfect memory of this incredible band. And as a bonus the album has the songtexts in the inside.
@@MD-ru5vs Geloof me maar dat ik de pick-up bewaard heb met maar 1 reden... om deze vinyl te kunnen draaien ;) met knetterend haardvuur op de achtergrond ! Blijf gezond bro !
For sure very unique and theres not too many bands out there nowadays especially that have the soul and feel that these brilliant musicians have

Although their musical journey was not a commercial success, Nevertheless The Sound were such a creative and talented band in constant evolution, through their musical legacy we discovered their creativity, a distinctive sound among their compositions, poetry from the heart and musical greatness. It cannot be denied that they belong among the best bands of the 80s.

adoro a the sound y a adrian borland
AMAZING!!!!
It's worring I had never heard of this band until this year.
When this album came out
I thought it had the best "sound" of the new wave scene of that time
even today I think so,
despite complaining about the low budget imposed by the label
the result is surprising
Great Great SOund... ...
They have a Sound similar to Comsat Angels

A sparkle in the dark.Pure pulsating energy.
I would love to hear this song in some upcoming films by my favourite directors like Michael Mann , David Fincher , Denis Villeneuve , Christopher Nolan and Nicholas Rending Refn or even some of favourite tv shows like Agents Of Shield , Supernatural and The Black List !
