I like the way they incorporated realistic backgrounds and CGI into a hand drawn animated world.

I hold a special place in my heart for this movie... my dad bought me this on dvd when I was around 7/8 when I was going through a “fairy phase”. You grow attached to shit nostalgia. :)

Well, to this movie's defense, I believe the filmmakers wanted the prince to assign the children with simple tasks to really show how kind, humble and merciful the prince is, instead of asking the children to endanger their lives for him. Also, as for Bridget falling in love and marrying the fairy prince right away, it's pretty much safe to say that a lot of women would say yes to marrying a prince, especially a magical fairy prince, that is in love with them. Many people dream of marrying royalty.

Am I the only one who find the whole “prince asks the kids to bring the girl to him and then she instantly falls in love” thing not just contrived, but REALLY creepy!?
I almost thought that it would turn out that the fairy prince was secretly an evil creep and putting her under mind control; Thus why she just falls in love for no good reason. And the Shapeshifter would turn out to be the good guy trying to stop him or something. The kids would have to team up with him to undo the mess they made.

Personally I love this movie but at the same time it's so freaking aggravating! For one Brigid meets the prince and the prince sees her and bam! They fall in love and get married. Um...where is the getting to know you and the romantic courting? Where's the awesome quests? Also where is the backstory about the prince and his brother and the witch who made the prophecies? Why don't we see any of that? Everyone is just too damn cheerful. She left her life from before behind for no reason! Just yikes!
I actually started writing a rewrite of the film where there's another Brigid but it's still some years later and the original Brigid died because she wasn't the right one. And this Brigid isn't having it with the whole, Yeah we're meant to be together because of a prophecy will you marry me? She does end up stuck in Fairyland at some point but stipulates that there is to be a time frame in which they get to know each other and if they end up falling in love she will stay and be his wife but if she doesn't fall in love with him she leaves.
I feel they could have done so much better with the story.

Funny how this film was produced in Swansea, Wales. Near my hometown, might I add. Anyway, it was made by Cartwn Cymru, the same company that made Funny Bones and Miracle Maker.

Is it me or is The Shape-Shifter exactly like Scar? He even just wants power for power's sake like Scar!

Reminds me of some of the made for tv animated movies that aired on Toon Disney. I could be wrong, but I believe Faeries is one of them.

Is it just me or does The Shapeshifter seem like a ripoff of Scar from The Lion King? Hell he's even voiced by the same actor, Jeremy Irons

The relationships in this movie makes no god damned sense, I agree, but who am I kidding? It's just a direct to DVD kids movie.
