Inventor Jaireme Barrow has come up with a creative way to deter thieves from stealing delivery packages from the porch. CNN's Michael Smerconish has more.
When i moved to US i was surprised to see packages being left at the door. In other countries you have to go to post office to pick up packages = nearly zero thefts
I'm so sick of package thieves, utter scum of the earth. its the same people that would break into your car or house if they knew they would get away with it. I personally have started dealing only with companies that allow me to pick up the package from their store or from a pickup box, or the post office; I've found that this is the safest way to shop and avoid the hassle of making a lost package claim.
2 Frisky Felines I don't get it in Australia we don't seem to have this problem, or never seem to hear about it, I get a box of vegetables delivered once a week and have never had it stolen but then maybe my package you can tell what the contents are.
Your trick has been revealed on CNN to all your local porch pirates, who will carry on regardless. Now, fill the package with some C4, broken glass, nails and screws.
Lincoln1242 I think it’ll work even if someone knows (although I don’t know how they would) simply because in the thief’s mind once the blank goes off it means that someone might be inside the house just waiting to pounce or at the very least they’ll know they’re on video. BTW I’m all for the application of C4 and Det. Cord.
Need to dilute dog or human shit, make it runnier, put in zip lock quart baggie zipped and on its side. Apply strings or duct tape to each baggie lip and then to box tops. If you use one thin piece of tape securing the bottom, it'll leak thru when top is opened.
This man is very bright. Now he should start a website that publicly shames would be thieves, and encourages people to name the culprits. I bet it would be successful.
You know what is wrong with the law? The law is to protect redhanded thieves. These robbers trespassed and took properties that don't belong to them and yet they are not punished even with hard evidence. Not only do they not get away with it, but they can also turn around and sue the rightful owner for damages they themselves got into.
I bought this about a year ago for placing in the back of my El Camino then park at a Wal-mart. I have my gopro cameras to record the lowlifes. Haven't done it yet but I know I will become instantly addicted after my first bait gig.
If a "signature is required.." the package should not be left by driver. With out the signature, that package is 100% the responsibility of the delivery company. Hold them liable
(consumers) What a label, its like worker bees..What's interesting is how people became a consumer not a customer.. We live in a very sick greedy world..
That is the only worth we have in this world now, how much we consume is equated to how valued we are in this system. I agree, we now exist in a very sick and greedy world.
Put your pan on the hob over a medium heat. Add the oil and leave it for 1-2 minutes until hot (a little longer for an electric hob). Add the onions and cook, stirring fairly frequently, for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are soft, squidgy and slightly translucent. Tip in the garlic, red pepper, 1 heaped tsp hot chilli powder or 1 level tbsp mild chilli powder, 1 tsp paprika and 1 tsp ground cumin. Give it a good stir, then leave it to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
see, some things in the middle east I agree with: get caught stealing? lose your hand...get caught again? lose the other one. You SHOULD be allowed to severely injure or maim thieves.
Unbelievable....these crazy people seems to just drop by to steel. The last guy stopped his car and decided to pick up (Steel) this package. This was an eyeopening video.
Scaring a thief away from a fake parcel has not accomplished much. Once the thieves learn the parcels are harmless, they will have no effect. This pretty much amounts to playing a practical joke on a thief, hardly sufficient to make him go straight.
Wait a minute....are you saying that if someone steals a package from your porch, you have actual video of them doing it and you know where they live, the police won't arrest them !!!??? What ????
NO PROBLEM in TEXAS.. You're on private property.. end of conversations! PRIVATE property owners have the right to their property. Sorry Cali et al protects the CRIMINALS!
I would also coat the package with some type of smelly, super sticky glue, so when the thief begins to run off with the package it is STUCK to his/her hands and he/she literally cannot drive the get-away car or walk through the neighborhood without having an Amazon package glued to their two hands!
For all those saying fill the box with c4 and shit, some guy actually had kids break into his garage several times, so he had a gun and left the door open waiting for them. What happened was he was charged with 1st degree murder as you're not allowed in this country to be pre planned for a thief trying to kill the person.
Damn Jeremy is cute! Really damn cute! I'm going to go to his website and buy one of those gadgets! I can't tell you how many times I have put packages of rotting produce in empty Amazon boxes ( mostly potatoes ) on my front door step and I go out there Thursday morning to put it in the trash can and the damn box is gone! Only about 20% of my orders are never received. If I were the homeowner I would dig a bunch of holes in the yard and make sure the sprinklers were on during theft hour so that the holes would be full of water. Our UPS and FedEx guys always ring the doorbell and run off quickly more than likely because they're afraid I'll scream at them for knocking too hard.
People are idiots! If you know you are not going to be home, and packages have already been stolen from your porch, why are you not making other arrangements? People deserve what they get!
I got a better idea, place a giant wasps nest inside the package but wait, shhh don't let them know yet. Then when they take it to their car.....hehehe
It just COMPLETELY blows me away that this keeps happening. I guess it's just going to get to a point that someone is going to die or get seriously injured before something like this is addressed. It's ridiculous. It seems that this all became a thing once Amazon got popular.
Put 10 different boxes in the porch. Some with dog poop etc. When ups deliver there will be 11 boxes. Mix them. The thief will not be sure which one to take.
A thief that weighs 400 lb has high blood pressure and diabetes holding his chest as he walks up onto the porch. Didn't think there was any way he could move that fast.
Why don't he build a bigger box to put the packages in, with a lock and key or code that only the delivery guy has access to? So much smarter. He could write his name there, or ''packages only'' and he can notify the delivery companies and they can come to an agreement.
Good for you guys . Someone knows one Person another that’s been violated . Who cares What people think . It’s harmless . And people shouldn’t steal . Period . How do I get one of these mechanism ? Thx Roy
Well to be fair, this guy has labels and signs warning people, yet people are scumbags to intentionally trespass on someone else's property and attempting to steal packages. I think what this guy is doing is a great thing. To those who think it's a good idea to steal people's packages, screw you all and I hope you get arrested.
Porch pirates come in all sizes , color and gender . These thieves depend their happiness in the pockets of other people. They deserve an explosive boxes.
The answer to this problem is so simple! Just think about it! Thieves drive around looking to SEE a package on a porch. When they SEE a package, they go for it. Newsflash!!! If they can't SEE a package on your porch, they will not go to your porch, but will keep driving until they do SEE a package on someone else's porch. So... place some kind of visual barrier on your porch so that the delivery company can place the package BEHIND the barrier. Now, you may argue that thieves follow delivery trucks and will notice when a package is delivered to your porch. NOT so much! Very, very few thieves do this because that would make them too obvious and more easily caught. So just make it so that a thief cannot SEE any package on your porch. Years ago I was in the home repair business. I got a lot of calls to repair damage from break-ins (doors, window, etc...). I noticed that every home I repaired from a break-in did not have a security sign out in front of their home, even though some of them had security systems, but had no sign. I had the opportunity to interview a couple of carrier criminals who specialized in home break-ins. Both of them told me that what they looked for was a security sign in front of the home. If they SAW one, they simple went on down the road until they found a house without one. Again. it was based on what they could or could not SEE.
Ups and others don't even knock or ring the doorbell when dropping off packages. I could be home and not even though there was a package at my front door. A simple ring might be at least some sort of hindrance.
What a world we live in where you have to worry about a thief being injured as a consequence of them trying to steal
It's great to see all these people running off, but I would like to see them caught and in jail.
When i moved to US i was surprised to see packages being left at the door. In other countries you have to go to post office to pick up packages = nearly zero thefts

Yup they cant sue because “NO TRESPASSING SIGN”
Your trick has been revealed on CNN to all your local porch pirates, who will carry on regardless.
Now, fill the package with some C4, broken glass, nails and screws.
Lincoln1242 don’t forget sulfuric acid, battery acid and human poop.
Cord.
Pretty sure they're running away because they're either scared, or they're running away because they think someone heard it go off.
Borderlands808 saw a video that made use of explosives and dog poop, seeing it detonate in the thief's car was quite amusing.
...annnnnd...go to prison! Would be nice, but our system (sadlly) protects these scumbags.
I ordered a blank box on Amazon but it was stolen
Why not a system with spray paint cans so they are marked for the police
A die packet like banks use in the movies when they are robbed.
Exploding dye package with CS gas or pepper spray to disable the thief until authorities arrive!
Great ideals but sadly I’m afraid that maybe assault or they maybe able to sue you if they get hurt
Need to dilute dog or human shit, make it runnier, put in zip lock quart baggie zipped and on its side. Apply strings or duct tape to each baggie lip and then to box tops. If you use one thin piece of tape securing the bottom, it'll leak thru when top is opened.
@@darttoyou1398 I didn’t quite understand but it definitely sounded cute 🥰
I am watching this kind of videos every day and laughing like crazy. I love the smart moves packet owners are taking to catch those packet thieves.
Imagine that? A thief suing the person they are trying to steal from. This country loves protecting criminals.
The 1st time CNN ever made something worth watching. Congratulations!!!
Apply rodent contact strips, to the sides of the box as well!
You steal my package 15- 20 more times, and I'm gonna do something about it
I don’t know about some states, but in Hawaii you can have your packages delivered to public storage facilities and pick them up after work
Problem is there is no consequence. If they were being arrested, it would make them think twice
Wow the old guy! How brazen. Just walks up like he is cloaked. Suprised no one notices. Police need to step it up.
This man is very bright. Now he should start a website that publicly shames would be thieves, and encourages people to name the culprits. I bet it would be successful.
I have the Slogan for the Note inside the Box: You wanted my Shit, Now you got it !!!!! Come back for more if you need it

Not all Americans are ME ME ME!
A guest who lets the host speak. I'm behind this guy already.
"There's be only one moving piece unless you count the guy running up your front porch." 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍 That's funny.
These days we need someone to prank the catalytic converter thieves!
I bought this about a year ago for placing in the back of my El Camino then park at a Wal-mart. I have my gopro cameras to record the lowlifes. Haven't done it yet but I know I will become instantly addicted after my first bait gig.
Well I wouldnt say it is a worldwide issue,in other countries they dont leave your packages on your porch like that
There needs to be a nationwide sting operation with packages containing GPS to catch these thieves
*This reminds me of Home Alone*
(Suspense comedy music plays)
or do what the lady on fox news did, fill the box with cat poop and leave it on your porch.
If a "signature is required.." the package should not be left by driver. With out the signature, that package is 100% the responsibility of the delivery company. Hold them liable
The one guy jumped the fence and the gate swung open while he was jumping it lol.
Legends say, those dislikes are from the porch pirates that got scared
this looks like an excellent way to get arrested.

Human recourses.

You have my approval as well good job
Unbelievable....these crazy people seems to just drop by to steel. The last guy stopped his car and decided to pick up (Steel) this package. This was an eyeopening video.
I've got an idea have an IED in the package and when the pirate is 40m away it will explode
3:45 Damn, he almost said it. "Yes, this is all real. I dont have to put up any fake news".
That is awesome!
My package just got stolen today.
Amazon refunded my money out of nowhere. What a great company :)
that ending
Scaring a thief away from a fake parcel has not accomplished much. Once the thieves learn the parcels are harmless, they will
have no effect. This pretty much amounts to playing a practical joke on a thief, hardly sufficient to make him go straight.
I'm surprised CNN doesn't condemn this as a hate crime.

NO PROBLEM in TEXAS.. You're on private property.. end of conversations!
PRIVATE property owners have the right to their property. Sorry Cali et al protects the CRIMINALS!
That's one lousy reason for a person to want to live in Texas.
@@lepsimica Glad you feel that way. Now stay the F out.
Texas also has castle law? Good!
Really great job
I'm amazed they didn't make a joke about someone pirating the blank box shipment, I mean that would just be pure irony.
“I got injured while attempting to steal your property. I’m suing you for emotional distress!”
The first thing is to change it from "pirates" to "dumbasses"
That’s funny. I love it!

It really should be a charge just large enough to blow their hands off.
Their coming onto my property to steal my property, liability's be damned show me the jury who will convict.
Great idea 👏👏👏
How about not just leaving the packages in front of the houses. Problem solved.
