- Are you thinking, “My boyfriend says he needs space?” Want to know what to do about it?
This is such a common theme in my coaching sessions. So many of my clients come to me with this problem and they’re terrified of losing the man they love.
When a person is asking for space it means that something is wrong in the relationship. And I said relationship - not YOU! The fact that he’s asking for space does not mean that there is something wrong with you. It’s not your fault. Perhaps you’re a little bit too clingy or maybe your self confidence isn’t at its peak, but when you come across this problem it means that your boyfriend is not 100% satisfied with the relationship itself.
As of this moment, there is not enough joy, excitement or passion in the relationship for him, so that means that you need to introduce an element of freshness. You’ve got to organize new activities that will help you to rebuild the love and attraction while maintaining excitement.
When he asks you for space, the problem is that you think that you aren’t enough for him so you go into overdrive on trying to show him how much you love him. This is the biggest mistake that people make because it makes him feel suffocated and it becomes easy for him to take you for granted.
Instead, focus on the relationship, enjoying the present moment, and doing things you’ve never done before. This is how you can rekindle the flame and make him feel excited about being with you!

It's hard giving them there space it's been 3 days since I head from my boyfriend..I haven't contacted him or nothing we supposed to go out of town next week I hope we still do...he said he needs time to figure things out... but this is not the first time he has done this Everytime I say something wrong and it's so little and petty he needs space..so I'ma give him a week if I don't hear anything I'ma set him free...

So unfortunately he broke up with me i actually gave him a week and two days so I did reach out to him however he told me I allowed too much time to go by so I said okay if this is what you want fine I can't change how you feel make you want me or love me and after that I cried like a baby but now I'm just focusing on myself loving myself on working on my brain brand and body and moving forward and not looking back all I can say it was his lost and also a coward way to break up with me..y'all be blessed..one thing I have learned is that if you are the one for a man and no matter what he is going through he would not need any time away from you.. always remember if a man really wants you he will move a mountain just to get to you..

That's what happened to me: a guy sends me a text message to ask for space so i answered back take as much as you want i cannot bother. Later in the day he came face to face to talk to me (we work in the same place) and i explained to him i am not a stand by woman. After a week of no contact he texted me to ask how i was doing.

Wow. So you left him all because he wanted some space? Space isn’t a bad thing we are human. We aren’t supposed to be with someone 24/7. Space doesn’t mean I’m looking for other people to be with it literally means SPACE. I want alone time. I want to think. I want to connect with myself again and see where things are going wrong on my end. I want the dust to settle. This is why so many woman are single they think men will just drop and do anything for them

Don't give anyone the luxury of keeping you 'on hold'. If there's a problem you talk about it. Allowing someone to leave you hanging is basically setting yourself up for psychological torture.

No. Humans need space we aren’t meant to have someone at our feet 24/7. Asking for space doesn’t mean leaving someone hanging. I’ve (a woman) have asked my past lovers before for some space because of all different reasons. If the relationship isn’t going where I want it and we are fighting alot or someone is super stressed out and needs time alone space is ur best bet. It forces you to miss that person it makes both people think and become stronger as individuals. And you come back stronger and understanding once the dust has settled

hes going tru depression but was being really mean to me so I told him I had enough then he begged n told me dont abandon him .. so I said day after I'll b there for him .n he flipped script n said he wants space.not the first time tho happened a few times in last months. he only chases after n begs when I dont want to put up with him and min I agree to stay he wants space.

Thank you for your coaching video, that would be explaining about why he changed. I just confused about it because it's my first time to have relationship.
Few weeks ago I sent him a present and he said thanks with lovable emoji on chat. His last message is "don't worry I'll keep in touch" after I apologize that I failed to give him surprise. Then few days later he just read my messages without replying back. And when I greeted him few days later, my messages weren't read by him, but I saw him was online. I don't know why so I asked him an apology if I made mistakes. From this video, I learned that maybe he needs space to resolve his problem there (we are in a LDR) and needs focus with. I hope I'll be more understand about his need and be more wise also keep the positive thoughts for him.

I live together with my bf but two months ago I was depressed and I told him I want to break up. He was surprised but he told he will help me to be independent. I think this was a condition but after that, he changed. Next days I was fine and I told him I wasn`t really serious but he told me that I should do what I said. Till today he is telling me he is unhappy with me and he doesn't want to be with me anymore. Also, he doesn't want to end the relationship when I move out but leave me on stand by, Till now I was doing the biggest mistake, telling him I love him and argue with him about the breakup. I know it is wrong but he really got on my nerves telling me that he will find someone else I should move out etc. I hope you can give advice on what to do and say to him cuz now he in control of this relationship. He also told me that since I told him I want a break up he decided to break up with me instead of thinking that I will leave him one day If I decide.
My friend didn’t ask for space, but hasn’t read my messages for a week now, even though he is online everyday. We had no problem. Last time we met was romantic as every time was, but then he disappeared… I am shocked to see him ignore me for a week now.
This is what happened with me my boyfriend asked me for space giving me a lame excuse that if he talks with me he gets distracted and than he keep missing me and thinking about me and than he can't focus on his studies but we were already not chating 24/7 with each other. My bf of 12 yrs asked for space. We’ve been having unpleasant arguments for awhile now. He said, “i’m not doing anything wrong. Everything is fine, just my love life sucks and I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t push it. I just need some space to figure it out. I will be fine, you will be fine & i replied, “we will be fine.” His response, “yes.”
Day 2 of no contact & my anxiety is through the roof; however, I need to keep calm & respect his wishes for space.
He reminded me of a banner I gave him 2 yrs ago that read “True Love Conquers All.”
Mind you he raised my two kids 16G & 13B & they too suffer with the no contact which sucks!

Update - I received an emotionally laced text from him today. Nothing with regards to our relationship more of him on a personal level. I felt like an emotional pillow...if he asks for space to figure things out (his love life to be exact) why is he still texting me?!

Same happened to me but it was my fiance. We were together for 4 years. We met twice last 2017, and recently last summer 2019 which is when we got engaged. And now he broke up with me because he got tired with the distance. He didn't cheat, very faithful person. Its just that his love is fading because of the pressure, how painful distance is and financial problem to work our papers which will also take up to 1 year. At first i got upset bc it was so sudden, i felt betrayed. But then we called earlier to settle things and talk through it. He said he is just tired of fighting against all odds considering he don't have stable job yet. He wants to make a stand in his life. So he is letting me go bc he dont feel the same way as much as before because of the distance and so i am not stucked as well. He said we can still be friends and support each other but like more spontaneously. I think for the past few years we were so busy fighting against the distance without a break that our relationship becomes so pressured and not natural. What should i do? Thank you so much!!!

He just asked me for space. He's been distant and he said he had to turn off a part of himself because being without me hurt too much on a daily basis. He wants space to find that part or maybe even if he wants it back. Should I give him that space? Will doing a romantic gesture backfire and make him feel more guilty about not giving me what he think I "deserve"?

I'm really confused because he used not be like this in our honeymoon phase. This is why I hate relationships so much. We used to hang out all the time talk all the time and now he wants space. It's confusing... because i'm just annoying for wanting to talk about how I feel and yeah I just feel guilty you know. Plus he's a engineer student so he's gone through a lot of studying and I work and go to school and i still somehow make it work. I am very confuse I am very conflicted with my feelings, I feel uncomfortable because I get the heat for being annoying.

It’s super conflicting because he said he doesn’t want to break up after we had a big fight this week but he’s been asking for space more often .

What happens if he doesn't say that he needs space? What if he just has brain fog(that's what he told me. He said he doesn't feel himself and all)? What do I do? He ignored me when sent him a text? Should I leave it like that until he reaches out or should I tell him that I'm going to give him space without him asking for it?
I build up a new activity even before he distanced me and when I asked him he said that it's just work and nothing else but when I digged deep and asked him if he wants some space he replied I need space and that he wants to be normal for few days ...I literally put everything in him even he did the same thing before a few weeks ..i am really scared what to do ...next ...

My boyfriend asked for space out of nowhere after being together for 3 1/2 years. We are 14 years apart me being the older one. Anyhow, we always do/did fun activities at least once a week. We are not lacking excitement, our sex kids also primo! Why would he have a change off heart like this out of nowhere?
The age gap is probably why he’s asking for space. Wants to rethink things through and see if things are supposed to be.

Maddy Aitken sometimes being clingy will push them away.. but if he’s gotten to the point where you have to chase him for that long & he had to block you on everything ... I’d say he’s been pushed away for good & that he may spend time w you for your bday, but will still want his space

How do you organise new activities and excitement, seduction etc when he's taking space though? He's not wanting to be around you, he's not communicating with you, he's telling you he doesn't want to be around you when he's asking for space. Going towards him with new activities, trying to seduce him, and bringing ideas of how to make it exiting is going to make it worse.
