OH MY GOD I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND IT! Thank you so much, my math teacher kind of expects us to magically know how to do things, so he doesn't teach us. This is very helpful.
Thank you I'm 14 and I was so lost. I was mostly confused with the powers of ten. I know how to work out the problem but when it comes to the last step I don't get how it would change into a lower power or a negative or a higher or a positive power. But I get it now thank you! (-:
I was absent when my class was learning this and I have a test tomorrow. I told my math teacher that I was never taught this and she asked why I wasn't at her help session this morning. I had no idea she had a help session and I had one for science to go to. She then basically told me its my problem. Thank god I found this though cause I would be in tears without it.
My teacher spent 3 days on this and i didnt get it. I watched this and it made sense on the first time..... MY TEACHER WITH A DEGREE COULD NOT EXPLAIN THIS EFFECTIVELY AND THIS DUDE CAN!!!??? wtf is happening
honestly man you are a life saver!! your videos have helped me more than you can ever imagine! i just wanted to say thank you so much i appreciate what you do so so so much!!!!!!
I'm seeing all these comments about how weren't explaining Adding and Subtracting with Scientific Notations clearly. My teacher literally told us to teach it to ourselves using this video without mentioning it ONCE in class.
Sir thank you for this video. A big help for me. You are such a good teacher. Learners will easily understand because you explained it briefly. Thank2 you so much.
Very helpful. 1 question though... Does the exponents being different solution you show later on in this video also work for multiplying and dividing ??? Watched all 3 of your vids and I just want to confirm, thanks ! :)
He's talking about the decimal moving to the right in the power of 10. 10 to the 4th becoming 10 to the 5th means youre multiplying by 10 so the decimal moves to the right. To compensate for multiplying the 10 to the 4th by 10 to make it 10 to the 5th, you must divide 3.5 by ten which is the same as moving the decimal to the left.
shouldn't the answer be 3.5x105 @ 6:51 ? because you use the least amount of sigfigs to the right of the decimal? and 3.1 has 1 to the right of the decimal while .35 has 2.
i do online school and the math teacher keeps passing back the same assignment saying that if im subtracting it should come out Negative? i dont understand.

thats exactly how my maths teacher is she just gives us homework without explaining
BubbleGumGamer me too
BubbleGumGamer this is really helpful
He wants MAGIC... LOL
How???
I checked out 6 or 7 middle school math channels on scientific notation. Yours is by far the best! Thanks!
This guy explained more to me in 7 minutes than my teacher did in 45 minutes.
currently taking a test...I'm in the restroom
really lol
Jhonny Hill LML
Lol good luck
how did it go?

MY TEACHER HAD US START DOING THIS WORK AND I WAS TOO CONFUSED AND I HAVE A TEAT TOMORROW AND YOU LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE THANK YOUUUUU
Thank you I'm 14 and I was so lost. I was mostly confused with the powers of ten. I know how to work out the problem but when it comes to the last step I don't get how it would change into a lower power or a negative or a higher or a positive power. But I get it now thank you! (-:
Thanks a ton! I'm reviewing everything we learned this year in math for the eighth grade state test tomorrow! Thanks for helping to refresh my memory.
Thank you so much for making these videos, I haven't thought my math grade would be this good in years.

This guy is great, He kept it simple and spoke clearly , also he was slow not fast like the teachers at school
i might show your videos to my math teacher so she can show the class because this is an easier understanding.
Excellent explanation!! You saved me from failing physics class
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! you helped me on my math assignment thank you!! You should become a teacher because the way you explained it is literally perfect.
thank you so much, may god bless your soul
is the different exponents changing the same with negative exponents
Thanks for the great video. It's been years since I have had to do this and it helped as a reminder so I could help my daughter.
this walked me through all the steps, so I really appreciate it, maybe you should be a math teacher!!!
Thanks. Have a big test tomorrow. This really helped.
I have a test and this was super helpful! Thank you!
OH MY GOD thank you I was having trouble with it up until, you sir are a genius

Thank you so much!!! I'm reviewing the basics for my Gen Chem course this summer!!
Thanks so much! You helped me clear this all up before my quiz!
Nice! Love the method you used when constant is not between 1 and 10. 💚
Sure, I am enjoying your videos. Thank you for making them.
Keep it up there should be more help like this on youtube!!
Thank you i have a quiz tommorow and i was completely lost and this video helped me so much this was my savior!!! Thank you!!!! Lol😝😝😝😅😅😅😅😅
Thank god you made this video? I was stumped!
thanks man i finally get how to do it now ur better than mi acttual teacher
4:02 I think its not negative one because moving one decimal point to the right gives a positive integer/exponent
I love your videos! They helped A LOT! Thanks!
thank you so so much..............you made it easier for me to understand......
Dude thank you so much this was very helpful to me ! You explained it in a neat way ! Good job keep up the great work
omg once you talked about how you make the exponents the same by moving a decimal place to the left... it made my brain opened up XD
i love this guy, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the important information, this helped me a lot.
Thanks, it helped very much so with my math. Nice job.
Good explanations. Thanks for sharing this.
THANKS
cleared all confusion
It's very clear. Thanks for sharing.
so you subtract the exponent when you move the decimal point to the right but you add the exponent when moving the decimal point to the left, right?
Thank you…I like my math teacher but I did not understand when he did this. I was like WTF is that? Now I feel better.
ikr LOL
Very helpful.
1 question though... Does the exponents being different solution you show later on in this video also work for multiplying and dividing ???
Watched all 3 of your vids and I just want to confirm, thanks ! :)
midterms tmr, its so late, but I understand this again (i have a terrible memory) thank you so much
This came in clutch for my math final
thanks dude, helped me with mt hw

THANK YOU GOD OF MATH THE UNIVERSE BLESSED YOUR SOUL
5:05 the decimal point moved to left not right. At the first you said right.

Thanks soo much great video well done
My chemistry teacher making me watch this anyone else?
Can someone tell if when the exponent is negative do I add a negative
Thank you but tha last would be 3.36 right?
what if the exponents are different?
Review 4:53
Suspect Gamer he explains it later on 👍
Harvey Charles was
Thanks this really helped me

whos here in 2020?
This was very helpful
Thanks. Very helpful.
Nice job!
What happens if the exponents are say 4 and six does the same rule apply? anyway awesome vid
Ya your teaching is really good
I would like to know how you got 3.45 when you added .35 and 3.1 beacause i didn't get that answer thanks
3.10+.35=3.45.....
+Alex Westerdahl I still don't get it sir why would you put "0" a figure that wasn't there in the first place?
+Karen Laguera1 Think of it like this!
3.10
+0.35
----------
=3.45
Does that make more sense?
+Jesse Jacobs Yeah, that's how you do it. Easy stuff.
How do I know which power to change? Or can u change either power?
Shanna Desirea you change the smaller power to match the larger one
itz_aar0nicz_ gaming Thank You
Thanks, You have helped me
One part is confusing me...on the 3.5, if you move the decimal to the left to make it .35, I thought that is negative?
i do online school and the math teacher keeps passing back the same assignment saying that if im subtracting it should come out Negative? i dont understand.
my teacher is good but doesn't explain it this good
wonderful i understand it now thank you
you just saved a college sophmore on his hw. thank you lol
thanks helped very much!
I know the rest, but I can't tell which number with the exponent should i make smaller or bigger!! I need help
thx this was very helpful
Thanks for helping bro
I understood it really well thank you for this video but I got confused how did it become 3.45? I was a bit confused on the last part the 3.45
