What are the repairs and renovations that have to be made to MacArthur Park? There has to be SOLID reasons the city needs to tell protesters to close it for a while.
They need to earmark 1 million a year just to have 8 cops patrol the damn thing and keep the homeless away. Reopen the insane asylums already and let's get the crap off the streets and back where it belongs.
It costs a lot more to institutionalize people than to get them back on their feet. It's difficult to have the patience for the process, but what choice do we have?

And good luck dealing with the other 50% who are hopelessly addicted to hardcore drugs. They all need to be put away (humanely, as they were for the most part for centuries). Enough with the soft positions! Back to being a more rigid, cleaner, safer, more comfortable society. Look at LA in the 1940s. That's what we need back.
