I know Solar has been rejected but didn't know Moonbyul was for her vocals? but anyways thanks for having a lot of love and interest in Mamamoo! They did a lot of different retro styles in mvs and songs at the start of their career like before 4 seasons is a good way to define their musical timeline but yeah their retro sounds do come thru time to time in their bsides and with their HIP comeback which a lot of moomoos who enjoyed their earlier music really appreciated! We still love their experimental and modern music as well ofc!

But when it was near to their debut Moonbyul was kicked from the group because she failed to loss her weight to a certain passable weight on their evaluation day. It made her very depressed & stopped going out of the house for a year. She was the last member of Mamamoo that came to RBW (but she signed the contract earlier than Solar). That experience made a deep scar in Moonbyul's psyche so that she was obsessed in dieting, she was very thin in UOAY era. But she slowly healed when she was in Mamamoo-- Solar, Wheein, & Hwasa (esp Solar) were encouraging her to eat more . And also, before Moonbyul was in RBW, she was also scammed by a fake agency or something. . Since teenagers, Moonbyul was trained to be a vocalist. Even her vocal trainer praised her. But only when she was in RBW she learnt to be a rapper. In Mamamoo pre debut songs, Don't Be Happy & Peppermint Chocolate, Moonbyul was totally absent in Don't Be Happy (like Hwasa), and almost absent in Peppermint Chocolate (her rap was too high pitch in that song, and her rap lines are too little. In that song Mamamoo was collab w/ another singer/rapper)

I think when they are harmonizing Moonbyul is the one holding everything down with her voice. I mean i definitely don't know the perfect terms for that. Maybe you can analyze and talk about it.
I honestly think Wheein signing with a different label is going to be better for Moon. They can still come together as MMM but it will also force RBW to be more creative with the way they pair them together and give MB more vocalist opportunities. You can already see it with the increased frequency of her collabs where she sings or does longer and more melodic rap verses. Good for Wheein for knowing her worth and noticing that RBW clearly doesn't know how to properly support their artists equally.
