    Excellent sequence of movements and emphasis on core strengthening. Ariza is an outstanding conditioning coach. Also great on Khan for working so hard.

    Alex Ariza was my inspiration to dedicate myself into strength and conditioning. Although I am a marathon runner but strength and conditioning helped me to prolong my running career. Thanks Alex!

    This is proper strength exercises combined with plyometrics, all weight resisting exercises. Very good to do.

    • @Bangercv
      @Bangercv 11 лет назад +4

      jamil akhtar Huh what do you mean he didnt train his chin, you cannot really train a chin, you can work on punch resistance to the body but its quite hard to do the same to the chin.Listen whether its Khan or Cotto, if someone gets put down then that's how it going to be, boxing is that type of game, I just don't understand that when Khan goes down people tend to say he's got a weak chin and when someone 3 months later like Froch goes down nobody say's nothing. I just dont understand, Khans knockouts get over exaggerated to the point where they say he has a weak chin, well the likes of Dela Hoya, Hatton, Froch, Fraiser, Tyson have been down does that mean they have a weak chin!!!

    • @SuperJeandi
      @SuperJeandi 9 лет назад

      Jamal Owens yep, amir has always had good strength trainers, point is the best boxers incl floyed, pacman, etc.. all do one training more than others, and thats core, your core connects your arms, fists to your legs, so power has to transfer from legs to hands, simple!, the best coaches tell you where power comes from, legs yes, but ha sto travel through the core!

    Maximal strength isn't too important in boxing. It's more about sustaining a high level of power throughout the entire fight - ie cardio vascular fitness. And punching power or speed is largely down to again your fitness, your technique, and the magic quality that some fighters have which others do not - the ability to punch.

  • @holmesglenn
    @holmesglenn 12 лет назад

    i think depends on the tactics for fight, eg: if plan is for a lot of in-fighting & a physical type fight, then physical strength is gonna be important, if tactics lean to staying on the outside, more focused on speed and movement, then not as important, so tactics style of opponent i think dictate how much strength wrk will get done, but overall it's def useful to be physically stong in boxing as long as it doesn't diminish the speed that will produce to force / power in punches

  • @MrSmurf459
    @MrSmurf459 11 лет назад

    I agree with you to a certain extent but by a physiology stand point the only way to increase punching power or power period is to get stronger and increase your maximal strength(if the individual has reached their peak power)! Obviously technique takes precedence over any kind of S&C in boxing but alot of these exercises he is doing are speed strength exercises(rate of force development) which ultimately plateaus if an individual does not increase maximal strength!

      @RossKempOnYourMum01 10 лет назад

      "I know he has a new strength coach [Alex Ariza] and I don't get along with the guy, and one of the reasons why he doesn't work for me anymore is because I think he's a little shady, you know. He used to give Manny [Pacquiao] a drink every day before we worked out and I asked him, 'What's in that drink,' and he would never tell me. And I said, 'I need to know what's in that drink because, you know, you're giving it to my fighter and if something goes wrong, I'm gonna get the blame.' In my opinion, he's a little shady,"
      Where did I say I agreed with Floyd? I didn't. I said Ariza was fired for giving Pac mystery drinks. Proof above.

    • @pfdad1
      @pfdad1 9 лет назад +2

      Lin Johnson Ariza would not risk his high profile spot to peds; sports science is an evolving faction and if someone doesn't want to disclose what they giving the fighter only because it's a small world and once that catches on everyones going to be using it and then they won't have the edge;
      just because the man didn't want to give away his secret doesn't mean you're doing something illegal
      let's talk about the stuff that other boxers take than never get caught with;
      all bullshit aside
      if these guys know what they are doing they know when to take it and when to stop taking it and how to get it around a drug test it happens with bodybuilders in happens with elite athletes if they get caught because they were stupid or they didn't know what they were doing at the time;
      If you think that in the elite athlete brackets those guys are all clean your out of your mind being involved it's sad but it's true it's a reality

    • @pfdad1
      @pfdad1 9 лет назад

      RossKempOnYourMum01 the boxing community is a small world just like any other niche in any type of sports endeavor I don't think Alex Ariza would risk his name and countless opportunities with up and comer athletes if he was really pushing pedds

    alex is saying that, for amir to tighten his core..chi/energy, does come from your stomach, but it´s NOT a theory, bruce lee made up..! it comes from a practice in china, that has been around for centuries, it´s called chi kung or qi gong..energy does originate, from a place, in your lower abdomen, called the dan tian and quite a few kung-fu styles, especially shaolin, work their energy, spirituality, through chi-kung.

    you don't need to buy any video to learn boxing strength and cond. It's all about simulation of movement boxers do . all the rest depends on your imagination. I am a strength and cond coach and more than 50% of the routine is of my own. when i feel the movement is right I do it and then add viariations. He is popular because he is known. That doesn't mean he is the best in what he does.
