In the 2001 movie "The Fast and the Furious," Dom's 1970 Dodge Charger is a true classic muscle car. The car boasts a menacing, aggressive appearance with its iconic long hood, wide body, and massive engine protruding right out of the hood. The big supercharged V8 kicks out enough horsepower to shred tires and rip up asphalt. The car becomes a symbol of Dom's character as a fearless, powerful, and unstoppable force in the world of street racing.
Enjoy!
Fact #11: the rolled Charger later appeared in Herbie: fully loaded (2005) minus the fake blower and called a stock car
What scene?
@@Goon_Lagoon69420 near the beginning in the junk yard.
Should have never continued with these movies. Great for first one but got ridiculous
But they saved us from WW3🌎
As if the wheelie was not ridiculous? Or any of the stunts you see are not ridiculous? It is a well known fact that reality is boring. And hardly worth your attention. So, naturally for the sake of the franchise they had to get more and more un believable.
This video is WAY better than the movie!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it 👍
Well done carstarz on this video of 70 charger as it clears up why dom's dodge sounded like big block without the blower noise which they rectify starting in the fourth film onwards anyway thanks for the video and have a good day bye now.
Thanks much and indeed correct.
Love your episodes! Great analysis 👍
Thanks, Glad you enjoyed them 😊👍
When will it end!? Stop destroying Dodge Chargers! It's been going on for decades! Why can't they switch to Subarus or Tesla's or something? Just saying.
The Dukes of Hazzard show, live stunt show, not the 80s TV Show, is using Dynacorn official licensed charger bodies on crown vic chassis'.
Enthusiasts have been saying this for decades. But to answer your QT, those other options would be boring as hell, thus they make lousy character cars. Muscle cars are more exciting. Which is why they often are the heroes.
Great video as always, love your channel.
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoy the channel 😉👍
Good film.
What a beautiful car !!!
Indeed, I do love Charger👍
That wheelie never did look right. It has that second bounce that doesn't look natural
Too straight going up imho
Just an fyi my man fact #2, ratchet shifters like the B&M in the charger are meant to manually shift my 69 charger does too and all my other classics ive installed ratchets it. And if you only race and dont install a kick down cable to the 727 trans you must always shift the auto manually
Yep, I'm well aware friend; I was just explaining that in a buck car like that, his shifting wasn't actually doing anything 😉
Your videos are awesome! It's a compete history lesson in a few minutes. 👍
Thanks friend and glad you are enjoying them 👍
Speaking of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, you should do a video about Brian’s Nissan Skyline GT-R from 2 Fast 2 Furious, because that car was never available for the US market and is revered by JDM car enthusiasts worldwide. Another good one would be Han’s Mazda RX-7 from Tokyo Drift.
I see what you are getting as those are some of the few great import cars, but I'm not planning on covering anything in that franchise beyond the first film vehicles since all the other movies were ruined by CGI junk. I will eventually cover Brian's Supra from the first film however when doing second rounds through my list at some point 😉👍
It looked like the cars had a slam shift on the at. You can shift a slam shift at there made to do that.
Very cool thanks loved the show 👍🤗
You're very welcome🙂👍
One of my favourite channels
Glad you are enjoying it and thanks for watching.
And also thanks for talking and clearing up that engine fakt, because I don't understand why they all saying the cars had Chevy 350 engines on it. 🤔
Indeed, wouldn't have made any sense for them to put 350s in them if they already had functioning stock engines in them for sure 😉

I’m pretty sure the charger that shows up in the later (#7?) had a Chevy big block in it. That car was a total custom build with a locked 4x4 system too. All the original 70 chargers in the first film like stated had big block Chryslers
@@kalebbrown93 yeah the later ones are fiberglass replicas with LS3 GM engines in it that produces 500 hp more even more.
Saw this one in Universal Studios
Cool😉👍
🤨🤨🤨 When Fast and Furious is only about Cars!!!...
😉
Love these episodes man but please do a little more research for the voice over. The manual shift looks like a ratchet shifter on an automatic (hence the wide brake pedal) and that's suppose to be a 426 Hemi not a 392. Hope this is more constructive than Jerky. Cheers!
Not jerky at all, when he said 392 I was like "what"? To me kind of a big mistake saying a 50's engine would be in a 60s/70 car. Especially when talking about "facts"...
@@bobbydavis2299 I think he just made a mistake by saying 392 Hemi because that's what's in the newer Scatpack and Daytona models. The 392 that's around now isn't even close to the old 392s from 50s and early 60s
It’s a 50’s 392 Hemi. The distributor is in the back.
No it's not a 426 Hemi. It definitely is a 1958 Chrysler 392 Hemi that was built by Chuck Taylor Racing Engines. Fact.. not opinion. It was a full blown alcohol breathing Drag engine.
Dom was bump shifting that torqflight like it was intended! Wasnt a stick car
Could have been a manual shift auto
People also shift automatic transmissions that aren't converted to manual shift. I would bet that is actually what is going on in the movie. It doesn't require anything special. I used to race my '69 Charger like that.
They make a “sequential shifter” that converts a typical H-pattern into a straight line front-to-back.
Lots of drag racers sue these. They prevent missed shifts.
On a side note, in the background of the pic of the Charger at 2:24, it looks like a wanna be Bluesmobile only they used a mid-1970’s Dodge Coronet or Plymouth Fury. I wonder what the reason for that was, the difference in this & the original Monaco would be to obvious.
Reason is, these are promotional cars used at Universal Studio's. They actually have a 'Blues Brothers' show everyday, and this is the car Jake and Elwood roll up in.
Universal Studios theme park actually has one of the movie's "Bluesmobile" on display, that could have been it.
I love these video's but, the builder of the fast and furious movie cars, has a video that shows the charger, and it is powered by a gm Ls motor with a fake blower on it. 💔
No different charger from a later movie
How is it possible that one is still owned by universal ? I know that one was owned by George Barris after they finished the movie, and then the car went to the Netherlands, where the crmar is still in a private collection, the wrecked one is at the Bronson movie car museum now and the one from the garage scene had no engine, they rented one for the garage scene, and then after the movie was done, they installed a real blown HEMI in it, and the car went to auction in 2008, and was sold to a man in Switzerland, after that he sold the car in 2015, and it is now owned by 2000 motors in Italy. :)
Yeah, keeping track of where some movie cars end up is quite a challenge for sure; thanks for the update on that 🙂👍
@@CarStarz42 my goal is to see all the four cars one day, because this car made me a car guy, and gave me the love for American muscle 😁
@@grievoustheboss Awesome goal there friend! My brother is actually heading to Branson, MO this weekend with his family to see the wrecked stunt car in that museum you mentioned. Hope it's still there when he gets there since that car seems to change owners so often😁
Just spitballing here...is it not possible there are replicas out there ?...after all, it's a Charger, it's black, and it has a supercharger on it...not exactly unique...
@timheersma4708 I don't talk about replicas but the actual screen used cars.
I wonder what happend to the baddies charger from Bullitt.
Thanks.
That one is indeed already on my list to look into as well 😉👍
@@CarStarz42 Thanks mate.
What hemi was the sound tho?
I think it was from a hopped up 426 if I remember right anyways, but been a year since I made that video.
background music song??
Man, feels like a lifetime ago since I made this video, even though it's only been a year, lol! Anyway, it's "Tell Me Something New" (Tigerblood Jewel Remix)
i saw a fake fast and and furious charger in 2013 the owners were trying to pass it off as the real thing
but it clearly wasnt the real thing
They referred to as Coke bottle wheels
Where the hell did they find '69 Chargers?!
THEY ARE FOUND IN PLENTY OF PLACES IN NORTH CAROLINA!!!!
Everyone throws a fit about the number of '69's they used in Dukes of Hazzard...where's all the whiners and criers now knowing they used 69's to look like 70's for this train wreck franchise??? Pick a lane already.
I seem to remember a meme years ago saying " Hey Universal, smash all the Mitsubishis and Hondas you want, but they don't make Chargers anymore."
I’m happy they used ‘70 Chargers. I have a ‘70. 😀
In early 80's the fastest car around town was a 68 Charger and everyone knew it - When I saw Fast and that wheelie I laughed because it was stupid af - last one I saw because after that it's a clown show marketed to morons.
I saw a bunch of the screen used cars at Universal in Orlando after the film's release. They weren't much to look at in person which gives kudos to movie magic. Also this is one of the worst car movies ever made and it is hard to understand how they keep making them. One last thing, NOS is not a word and should never ever be pronounced as a word. Real car guys don't say "NOS"
Indeed, the later films are practically unwatchable to me, especially more recent ones.
Well, opinions vary on the NOS pronunciation deal; I usually just refer to it as a Nitro myself, but most people I know who actually keep watching this atrocious movie series; usually pronounce the word out as NOS like that, so I did that for them. Got to try to appeal to the younger folks a bit too sometimes 😉
