- The Tour of the Lake District is possibly one of the best multi-day hikes in England's Lake District. It covers roughly 100 miles of stunning scenery, and has optional ascents of some of the most famous peaks such as Helvellyn and Scafell Pike.
In late August 2024, I set off to hike the tour (with all the high level alternates) from Windermere. Mark from @trickofthetrail joined me for the first few days of the hike. In part 1 of this series you can watch how we got on with our first days on trail, including ascending England's second highest mountain - Helvellyn. In part 2, I say goodbye to Mark and continue towards Keswick on my own. After a night in Keswick to recharge my electronics, I then head out towards England's tallest mountain - Scafell Pike.
In this video, part 3, you can follow the final leg of my journey and see if I make it to my final destination of Ambleside from my camp spot in a valley at the bottom of Scafell Pike.
Another beautiful episode my friend! Great work, your storytelling is so soothing!
Cheers mate, appreciate your support!
That diver was hilarious, so funny you caught it on time lapse. Looks so random. Cracking view from the Old Man and you got some cool shots of the fighters. I'd have so gone around those cows. I'm such a wimp.
Great set of videos though mate. Deserves more views. I thought at the end of the video you were going to steal my catch phrase. 😂
Appreciate it mate.
That diver scared the hell out of me! I'd not seen anyone for ages, then I heard this big 'sploosh', looked round, and there he was coming out of the river like James Bond! Crazy.
My head was all over the place at the end and I rushed the outro. I was rushing to get the bus to go back to the Old Dungeon Ghyll!
Great vids paul.. i bought the cicerrone book which i think this may be based on so its on my to do list.. great effort pal
Thanks for the support mate. Hope you get it ticked off that list, it's a great trail.
Great tour of the lakes mate, really enjoyed it, had a bit of everything 👍 just curious, what was your pack weight?
Thank you mate, appreciate it. It's a really great trail that deserves more attention.
I actually never weigh my pack, I'm guessing it was somewhere between 25 and 30 pounds. I carry about 5 or 6 pounds in electronics and camera gear.
What a great trail video! The wind! What do you think about how the Dipole held up? Did you have to fiddle with it during the night, or was it solid once you pitched it? Thx for any comments about it. I really enjoy your trails!
Many thanks!
I was actually pitching the Dipole wrongly for this entire trip, which resulted in it being really 'flappy' and not tensioned correctly. It still held up well in the wind, and I only had to get out to tighten a line once when it slipped.
I've since had it out in 35mph winds (pitched correctly) and it was sturdy. The problem I had was with stakes being pulled out of the soft wet ground. Once I put rocks on top of them, it solved that problem.
@@PaulandaPackThank you so much for your comments. You have very good videos on Tarptent Dipole and Double Rainbow in real conditions. I’ve been struggling between the two styles (in a double wall for either). Your wind results are very compelling for the Dipole even though I expect the DBL rainbow would be good too. I think the space of the dipole makes it more useful for me with better flexibility for another person inside. Thank you very much and good luck on all your treks!!
